  1. Hollenbeck (23rd) and Einhardt (29th) have signed, both confirmed.
  2. Eh, looking at the game log, maybe he isn't doing bad. 1 BB, 5 K through 3 IP, and the 5 hits he's given up are: Jamal Austin singles on a soft fly ball to right fielder Michael Earley. Daniel Paolini singles on a soft fly ball to left fielder Trayce Thompson. Jamal Austin to 3rd. Daniel Paolini to 2nd on the throw. Ji-Man Choi doubles (1) on a line drive to right fielder Michael Earley. Jamal Austin scores. Daniel Paolini scores. Nathan Melendres singles on a ground ball to right fielder Michael Earley Patrick Kivlehan singles on a line drive to left fielder Trayce Thompson. Ji-Man Choi to 2nd. So only 2 hard-hit balls, and one of the baserunnners was on via the strikeout-wild-pitch.
  3. And of course I jinxed Recchia, lol
  4. Recchia still among my favorite fringe guys in the system. Had his worst AA outing last time out, though it still wasn't bad, so it will be interesting to see if he bounces back in the day game. We've all got a couple guys we like that no one else seems to, and he's one of those for me.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 08:34 PM) Futuresox should do a list for 2013 sox draft retrospective with quick updates on who we picked. Interesting idea, thanks for bringing it up. We're currently discussing some other draft-related content, trying to get together another podcast, maybe doing a 2014 roundtable type discussion too.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) Can someone look back and pull back the posts about Rodon from last July... Google.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) That is true, although they rarely pay it. Shawon Dunston had to sue the Cubs to get his tuition money. That was a long time ago. A lot of these kids are going to school now. Not sure about the ones that wash out of baseball though, that may be different.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:15 PM) I honestly never heard that before. That's interesting. I can confirm having talked to some front office folks at the affiliates, these guys are given money, some time flexibility practice-wise, and strong suggestion to finish school while playing.
  9. Kussmaul to Charlotte, Crawford activated for BHAM. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 02:27 PM) I see Chris Bassit was cleared for "full activity"...Any idea when he gets back on the mound? Also what's the latest on Lopez? Chris says he is targeting All Star Break for a return. Lopez was "May or June" last I spoke with him, so probably pretty soon.
  10. Slight overdraft, might sign for a little under, which you will likely see a number of today for the Sox.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 12:13 PM) Best site to track on? Our tracker for Sox. MLB.com for all teams.
  12. If you want a look at the current in-house catching options that have any shot at being in the majors in 2015, you can read this.
  13. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) Johan Cruz 3-5, 2B, HR for DSL Sox. Considering an all-glove guy, so if he can hit, he'll be state-side pretty quick. QUOTE (bulokis @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:16 PM) how is he defensively? Maybe he can be a good utility guy. He's supposedly at least average at SS, but not spectacular. He's also played some 2B and even 3B, no idea how he is there. He's learning the OF, doing poorly but that should be expected this early. I saw someone earlier say Saladino has been the best player in the minors this year - let's not get out of control, that isn't anything like true. He's hit well so far though, at AAA, and at the very least he's played himself into consideration for a future utility role with the big club. It's unfortunate he's picked this moment to click, when the middle infield in Chicago and Charlotte is already so damn crowded. Very like the Sox are going to trade one or two of those soon, and hopefully Saladino can get some more regular time at more native position(s). QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) How bad has Goldberg been this year. Yikes. He's been a disappointment so far. The Sox made him a starter at first, which they like to do with relievers they think are key to the future. And I thought he'd be pretty good. Now he is struggling even in the bullpen. He maybe needs to go back to Kanny and close games there for a bit to get some level of confidence and rhythm back.
  14. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:37 PM) Oh s***. I forgot about Beck. Definitely over Sanchez though. I've never liked him as anything other than a utility guy. A Luery Garcia type. Nothing in their minor league careers is much alike, other than neither having much power. Sanchez' numbers has reached peak numbers in multiple seasons that Garcia has never touched, in terms of hit and OBP. Garcia has more speed and better D. It is possible they are both utility guys, but really they aren't very alike.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 01:36 PM) Is Micker Adolfo playing in the DSL? He's not on their roster, nor are Luis Castillo or Victor Done. My guess is all three will be on the AZL team, who open play on 6/20.
  16. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) Today is only the first round, correct? Are there any second round projections? I suppose I could just read a mock draft list and see who the 30 or so players are that start the rankings around 35. Tonight (6pm CT) is rounds 1 and 2, and the supplementals. Rounds 3-10 are Friday starting at noon, 11-40 Saturday at noon, all times Central.
  17. Here's something interesting to consider with the draft... are there any family members of the front office or team in the draft? Casey Gillaspie is a late 1st-rounder so he's not a favor pick. Any obscure HS or college players we'll take in the lower rounds that are sons of people? Just curious if anyone knows.
  18. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:51 AM) Kendall Rogers ‏@KendallRogersPG 1m Nola and the word reach don’t belong together. RT @ProfessorFog: @KendallRogersPG You don't think he would be a reach at 3 for the #ChiSox? Kendall Rogers is a great source for college baseball info, but he's by-nature very college-focused. He'll be more in Nola's corner than others may be.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 09:54 AM) I haven't read they were fine with it. I've read they were informed that the admn was talking about an exchange, but weren't informed that it was actually going to be done. McCain, Inhofe, Ayotte all said in public on record that we should get them back, and in fact a couple of them said if we need to exchange prisoners so be it. Doesn't mean it was the right thing to do or handled well, but fact is some of these blow-hards are doing an about-face.
  20. Thread closed, please go to the PHT thread for further discussion. Want to keep things single-threaded.
  21. We now have both the pinned picks thread and a discussion thread, pinned in PHT, if you want to head over there. Might close this one so the discussion stays single-threaded. Advance warning on that. And here is the Draft Tracker link, it is up but empty right now.
  22. The FutureSox Draft Tracker is now up on the site, though of course it is empty right now. Bookmark it or check back here in the OP of this thread for the link above. Tonight are rounds 1, 2 and supplementals, Sox pick 3rd and 44th. Friday noon starts rounds 3-10, then Saturday noon is rounds 11-40. There is a closed thread pinned here as well that will be updated periodically with just the pick and signing info, but it won't be as detailed or up to date as the blog. We'll move it over to the FS Forum after the draft is over for a few days. Also, we'll be active on @FutureSox twitter, if you are into that sort of thing. Go!
  23. Going to create some PHT threads later, but for now, combining the discussion threads in here. Sorry for the dust while I rearrange.
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) Kinda shocked Tim Anderson didn't make the team Votiing was probably a couple weeks ago, and his overall season numbers at that point were not special. The all star selections aren't about prospect status.
