I don't find 2 months of Dempster to be worth that high level a prospect-get. So if that is what he costs, let him go.

SOX S.O.S.: MUST STOP THE LOSING STREAK
NorthSideSox72 replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2012 Season in Review
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) Prove us wrong Dunn. Ventura sure does like this particular lineup. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) Can't wait for the Sox to miss the second wildcard by one game because Ventura refused to make lineup adjustments. 1. I much prefer this to the Ozzie-generated random lineup generator. 2. This regular lineup was clicking along nicely until this road trip. Changing it now is silly and will make things worse, not better. 3. That all said, I do think Dunn needs a day off, and this seems as good a game as any. -
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) I'm thinking of going to tonight's game by taking the Rock Island Line to the 35th street stop, but I heard they were supposed to be doing work on the train tracks and the stop is supposed to be closed until construction is completed. Does anyone know if it's going on now? Will I be able to ake the train to the 35th street stop? Also, I'm gonna try and buy a last-minute ticket from the box office (or a scalper) and I'm hoping that by the tim I get there the upper deck seats will be sold out or close to sold out and they'd sell the remaining lower deck seats for half price. Would this be the case? Would I have a good chance of getting a lower deck seat at half price if I went to the box office just before game time? I'm pretty sure that Red Line construction is NEXT year, not this year.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 12:06 PM) Do you not realize that they could have Patriot Act-ed your ass for that? What are you talking about?

Veal sent to AAA to make room for Gavin

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) Do you think that pecking order is based on who the organization projects to be a more successful pitcher? Or are there more financial/political type considerations involved? Seems unlikely there would be a political difference between Veal and Septimo - both were guys pulled into the org for LH depth from other spots, neither are considered high end prospects. I think the key difference is, Septimo is really tough on lefties (at least based on his minor league splits), and Veal is probably better overall but has even splits (more or less). So, the Sox feel they need a guy to target LHB, and that means Septimo over Veal. -
Let's assume he gets healthy on his rehab and seems ready to go. What should they do?

Expressing non-baseball opinions on B. Myers

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) he's a tool and i hate him as a person and a player. won't root for him to do well, but as a GM, and from a purely baseball perspective, KW made a good move. Sums it up for me. -
Traded to Houston Astros, along with Blair Walters, for reliever Bret Myers (and cash) on July 21st, 2012. Closing, moving.

Hawkins doing pretty nicely thus far.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) Morel to rehab with Winston-Salem and Nestor Molina back on the DL. Molina DL'd again? That can't be good. -
20/7 (or 7/20): White Sox @ Detroit... IT'S ON!!!!
NorthSideSox72 replied to Joxer_Daly's topic in 2012 Season in Review
QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) This is the season as far as I'm concerned. Gotta win 2 of 3. These are the types of games under Ozzie they lost the last few seasons. This needs to be different. Especially after last night, Robin or team leaders need to make a speech pre-game. If this team can't get it up for this series they do not deserve to be in the playoffs. That's it. This is the season? It is an important series, but come on, man. Come back to earth. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) Is the Choker going to start at third again? Robin has to sit him. Escobar still listed as the #3 Prospect on Whites Sox web site. What a joke. Overreact much? A rookie makes a mistake and he's now a Choker who should never play again? Come on. And yes, Youk has said he'd be back. -
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) I would have preferred he tried for 'death by cop' and pulled his gun when they arrived. Saved everyone the hassle and cost of a trial. As tempting as that idea is from the outside, it should be noted that when that happens, you are also permanently scarring the person who had to shoot him. Regardless of how evil the perpetrator may be, that is not an experience to wish on anyone.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Dash Web Site said Collop 'grazed' the uniform of the Carolina hitter, Ron Rodriguez, and he charged the mound. Carolina player Jesus Aguilar joined the fracus and was also ejected. And speaking of the Dash, What will Sox do with Cyle Hankerd? I know he is 27 and did not play a whole lot in last two seasons, but he has been on an offensive tear all season, or at least since we signed him. Hankerd is playing in Ravelo's position, but Ravelo has been out for a couple weeks on personal issues. I kind of doubt they'd have Hankerd get in Ravelo's way when he gets back.

2012 Minor League Catch All thread

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) http://web.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...sp&sid=t487 Moran gets promoted? I understand the Bristol gig was a rehab assignment, but seriously, the guy was epically bad down there. Like, worse than any streth I can ever remember a reliever having in the system. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 09:08 AM) Saying it's a joke that the issue became political so quickly is political? Linking a laughably partisan website's interperetation of a laughably shallow political talking head's words about it, yes, is a political post. Just leave that s*** out of it, please, or else make a new thread in the Buster.

I like the pitching matchups in this series, but this game is the toughest one. A win tonight would be gihugic. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) Sigh, it didn't even take a half a day for it to become political too: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/20...-Batman-Tragedy f*** you, Piers Morgan. Please keep the politics out of it, I don't want to have to move this thread to the Buster. No political posts after this point.

Ravelo still on Restricted List, been out about 2 weeks now. I hope his kid is OK. I would love to know what happened in that W-S game. Looks like Collop hit a Carolina batter with a pitch, and a fight ensued. Salvador Sanchez finally gives up some runs.

Youkilis out with "tight hamstring"
NorthSideSox72 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales Youk tight left hamstring, will be available to PH And looking forward to Detroit series If he's available to PH, I'm not too worried. -
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) Totally in support of enforcement of this rule. We want a diversity of opinions so we shouldn't push people out through personal attack. Clarification question: is it still cool to question people's sincerity if you think they're baiting? Borders on insulting, but could be true and keeps discussions intellectually honest. Never hurts to ask if someone is serious. And you can always question someone's posts on topic, so if you find the argument silly, then attack the argument itself. Not the poster personally. There is a difference.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Fair enough. For the record, I don't understand why I'm being singled out in keeping this discussion going (for responding to posts) though. Especially when some of those posts included insults directed at me. The insults will be dealt with. And you will note I did not single you out, I said to drop it, you and everyone else.

QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) I've no idea what WSI is but, from my experience on message boards dedicated to my other sporting interests, I don't think there's any harm in standards of respect and decency between posters being established. It's still possible to be passionate about the team, rip the pish out of each other, have a laugh, argue like f**k, and veer into various obscure levels of lunacy without being obnoxious. WSI = whitesoxinteractive.com. The other large White Sox message board (there are also a handful of blogs and smaller message boards out there). WSI's style is to try to enforce rules of conduct much more stringently than we do. They see it as a benefit to have more respectful discussion. The downfall is, less interesting discussion. SoxTalk lets more fly, which allows more open discussion, but also lends itself to more noise and garbage. That isn't an insult to WSI or SoxTalk - we just have different styles.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:34 AM) I guess I can't reply to posts. Give it a rest. No one wants to see this discussion anymore, its been beaten to death. You insist the couple stats you are citing say he's a good add, everyone else says your view is far too narrow. No movement will occur. I think everyone on the board would be happier if you just dropped it, and if everyone else did too.
