  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) Seriously. It was his usual role, but more of a jerk. That guy has the range of Michael Cera. I disagree. The goofball was nowhere to be found in that movie, and that is what I think of as his typical character. Understated goofball, but silly the same. The one thing I will say was the same across them all, was his speaking pace, which is unmistakable and I doubt he could change it much.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) I'm pretty sure Tex has been trolling this topic since January 28th, 2010. I actually think he really likes the guy, in some way.
  3. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 10:02 AM) Caught "30 Minutes or Less" last night on DVD. Danny McBride and Jesse Eisenberg are both essentially one-note actors, but I find just about everything McBride does to be hilarious, while Jesse's act is getting kind of old. Did you see The Social Network? Because Eisenberg was quite solid in that, and not at all playing is usual role.
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) First chance to respond. Does it really matter when he drops? I'm disappointed his immigration stance and fiscal restraint did not catch fire with the GOP base. Even if it had not caught on enough to have him be a serious contender, I would have liked to see his supporters sway the party platform in that direction. Oh for the love of... Tex, you really want that combination of two specific political beliefs so badly you would want someone like Perry to be the President? A guy who is so obviously overmatched by even the rest of this clown car, let alone the world stage?
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 10:51 PM) Newt Gingrich a centrist? Really guys? Practical maybe, but centrist? GTFOH. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 06:22 AM) To be fair he said pragmatic. Thank you. Pragmatic, not centrist. Realist even. Not centrist.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) Oh, Booker finally went a game without a three. I'm glad we could survive a crappy game. Not sure we are an NCAA team, but we needed that game if we want to entertain those thoughts. This team is driving me nuts. Every team has ups and downs, but these guys have made a season of being jekyl and hyde.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) He's had a wide range of crazy insane nonsense from the start. What has led you to believe that Gingrich is pragmatic? His entire career prior to this Presidential run.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Depends how you look at things. The b10 is the deepest conference but as I said earlier it wouldn't shock me if they only have 1 team make it passed the first weekend. As for bids, NW and minn definitely have a shot though I would be pretty surprised if the gophers get in. The acc is getting 4. The pac 12 will get at least 2 one way or another It should be interesting though cause the mid majors should be getting a good number of bids this year. Mountain West may get as many as 4, though more likely 2-3. Big 12 has 3 clearly dominant teams all going (KU, Bay, Mizzou). Then there is a group of 4, vying for anywhere from 2-4 spots: KSU, ISU, Texas, Okla. Then the remaining three (OSU, A&M, Tech) are just not going anywhere.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) The Big Ten is far and away the best conference this year. The Big East isn't even close. As a whole, I'd put them on about even par with each other. As far as NCAA-level teams go, Big East still has more guns, as far as I can see.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) further justification: hmph. He's getting there now, he's rocketing for the far right as fast as he can. Sort of bizarre to watch. Because honestly, I don't think he's the believer he is trying to act like, I think he is much more pragmatic.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) How many will the ACC get in? 2? I'm not following them as much this season. Big East will get less than last year in, obviously. May open up more for Big ten to get in depending on mid major conference tourneys. ACC and PAC-12 both look real bad this year, haven't seen ACC this weak in a long time. Big East with a slightly weaker year than normal too. B10 much stronger than usual, now nearly as good as the Big East. B12 looks decent, net strength was helped by jettisoning Nebraska and Colorado (but that might actually hurt them in some ways). In addition to the B10, the Mountain West looks like they are having an exceptional year too, but they played a lot of weak OOC teams.
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) Big Ten is far and away the best conference this year. They crushed everyone in the non-con, so Big Ten teams will get the Big East treatment - just about all conference losses are "good losses." I'm not saying they'll get in, i'm saying if they grab another few wins they're not supposed to get there's no reason they can't make it. I still think that, even in a down year, the Big East has more tournament caliber teams. The only reason the conference power rankings put the B10 slightly better, is that the Big East has a bunch of bad teams, much more so than the B10 has. This certainly is the best year for the B10 that I can remember seeing in a long time. But no way I'd say they are "far and away the best", and in fact I am not sure they are the best at all.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) With the way the law is currently structured, the Republicans actually made it illegal for them to approve it. Illegal? That part I must have missed recently, I'll need to go read up on the latest developments.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) Iowa won AT Wisconsin, & Minny won AT Indiana. Neither will make the tournament, but those are two impressive wins. Yes they are, but I think they speak more to the weakness of the top than the strength of the bottom. I just don't see teams outside of MSU and OSU being elite right now, I see a bunch of GOOD teams. And GOOD teams always lose a few games like that every season. That's just my read on it.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) The WH issued a statement saying that they oppose SOPA and PIPA. The Obama administration will also be rejecting the Keystone pipeline. The interesting twist here is that Republicans inadvertently killed the project by forcing a quick decision since the current route is opposed in Nebraska and not enough time was left to approve an alternative. 1. As I just said, he hasn't stopped either, and you proved it. 2. What is really going to go on with SOPA and PIPA, as I am sure you realize, is that they will be re-worked. Nothing is being killed. 3. As far as Keystone goes, I will be surprised if ObamaCo does indeed outright reject it. But I could be wrong on that one, we will see.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) I think we're finding out that they go a legit 7 deep, maybe 8-9 (OSU, MSU, ILL, IND, MICH, WIS, PUR, NW, IOWA/MINN on the bubble). Really only PSU and NEB are bad. Probably no national title contenders in the bunch, but maybe a couple of deep tourney runs if teams are playing well in March. Really? I'd call NW, Iowa and Minn bad, and I doubt any of them make the tournament. I'd be shocked if the B10 sent more than 6. Which is still a lot, but, any more than that, I just can't see it. In my view, there is a big drop off after your first 6 teams there, and then another one right after that.
  17. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 11:29 AM) Thank you President Obama for stopping SOPA and not allowing the Keystone Pipeline.. This has to be sarcasm... right? You are aware he hasn't stopped either... right?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 08:25 AM) Honestly, this is something you worry about if you are planning on competing this year. Yeah, you really need to think about 2013 here, because that is what KW is building towards. Andy Wilkins may be ready by then. But more importantly, you'll know by then if Dunn's situation was a one-time problem, or if he is truly done. No point in spending on some filler LH bat right now.
  19. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Much like Rock n' Roll and elephants. And Pepridge Farm.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Governor Perry's statements last night provoked an official statement from the Turkish Ambassador. Fortunately, Perry has zero chance. It has become plainly obvious to even the most evangelical and ultra-conservative types that the guy just isn't cut out for the job.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) I want as little connection between my information as possible. If one thing gets hacked, all of my info won't be compromised. I also like to review all of the accounts individually. I'm not sure how you are breaking any connections there. Auto-debit or one-time debit, that account info is in their system now. Which by the way is also a reason to use the credit card (when you can) instead of the checking account. Replacing a compromised credit card is a pain, but it pales in comparison to the nightmare of money being taken of your bank account and trying to make that change. But I see what you are saying about putting in that manual review step. I do it via financial software every few days across all accounts... you do it once a month focused on each account. Either way, the review is valuable.
  22. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) I just graduated with a BA degree in the human resources field. I also graduated with a 4.0 gpa. :-) Now I'm looking around for an entry-level job in the human resources field. The going has been tough, since I've been looking for a job since November. Any leads? Any tips or advice? GPA is only a marginal help, and once you are a few years into your career, it is meaningless. But with a full 4.0, as a recent grad, definitely make sure that is highlighted! Here is something I just read the other day... Aon (insurance conglomerate) is adding a thousand US jobs, including 750 or so in the Chicago area, and they have said the biggest chunk of that will be in HR. They are also consolidating some remote offices into their downtown building. So they might be a good place to start.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) Log on to company websites if at all possible. As few auto debits as possible. Why? QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 09:15 AM) I don't auto-pay the credit cards, it gives me a reason to check to make sure statements are accurate every month. I use financial software and download/track everything. I see transactions come in as they clear. So I review every transaction that hits every account, even if at just a cursory level. Auto-pay just means one less step for me each month.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) Everything onto a credit card. Credit cards paid in full once a month from bank account online. Me as well. Auto-pay everything possible, put as much on the credit card as possible (the rest auto-bill to checking). The credit card is then set to auto-pay once a month the full balance on due date from checking. I rarely have to actively pay a bill.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Mittens wasn't really worried about Nevada was he? At least not to the point where the endorsement of another mormon will suddenly make the difference. Who said he was worried? I was just analyzing the impact of Huntsman dropping out. His votes will nearly all go to Romney, what few there were.
