  1. Jule (DestroyBaseball on here) takes a look at the last draft pick the Sox have made each year for the last 20+ years, to see if any made the majors, the minors, or even signed.
  2. Draft done. Tracker updated with info on all the picks. 40 of them. Enjoy!!!
  3. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) https://www.facebook.com/jthodgkinson Seems quite the Democrat follower and perhaps a BernieBro, at least according to his Facebook page. And now a bunch of people are lambasting him on his own page. Wonder how ling until it is taken down. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Dems own this, like it or not. poor taste or not. More disgusting s***. Seriously, I hope none of the three of you I've called out ever complain about the polarization in politics, or politicians making tragedies into opportunities. Congress people are just amplifications. You all need to look in the mirror.
  4. I posted this on the FS Twitter Feed, thought I'd put it here too. Some current White Sox prospects who were taken on Day 3... Adam Engel (19th round) Jordan Guerrero (15th) Matt Cooper (16th) Seby Zavala (12th) Joel Booker (22nd) Ian Hamilton (11th) Mitch Roman (12th) Mike Morrison (27th)
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 07:36 AM) I'm going to speculate this can be traced back to the health care debate.... QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 08:33 AM) I expect more of this as Trump and his Republican ilk continue to try to cater this country to a select few people. These posts make me ill. Can we maybe, for a day, blame the lunatic who did the shooting? And not create a link that can never be proven just to score political points? Come on.
  6. Bryce Montes de Oca is still on the board. Sox drafted him out of high school as their backup plan to Rodon. They've been keeping an eye on him, that I know. Might they draft him again? He is eligible. Had TJS, high risk profile, but lots of ceiling.
  7. Looking at the Sox T10 picks, I see one over-slot guy, but a good 5 under slot guys, including a couple cheap senior signs. My guess is we'll see the Sox take at least one or maybe two over-slot guys in the 11-17 range who need more than 100k to sign. Guys they've done that with before include Adam Engel, Jacob May and more recently Ian Hamilton.
  8. Day three moves fast. Here is the FutureSox Draft Tracker, which will have at least short blurbs on every single draft pick by the Sox.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) I'm going the other way. I can't imagine a water polo player, signed to Long Beach State won't go there. His scholarship is worth more than the slot money. Unless the sox go way overslot, I don't think there's much of a chance. If he was that low a chance of signing, they would have taken him in like the 25th round and rolled the dice. 8th round means they know he'll sign. As... QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 04:43 PM) Ian Gardeck and Ben O'Shea, 2011. There ya go. Have to go back 6 years to find an example, and that was like 2 different draft systems ago. It just so rarely happens now.
  10. Abbott will sign. The Sox aren't going to draft someone in the 8th round who won't sign. Find the last time the Sox failed to sign a Top 10 pick.
  11. And here is the 4th round pick, RHP Lincoln Hanzman That's the last of our player-per-post write-ups. See the Tracker for blurbs on all others.
  12. Here's the write-up on OF Luis Gonzalez, 3rd round pick. I like this one.
  13. Gonzalez write-up underway for FutureSox, will post when ready.
  14. That cabinet meeting was really something. How empty does a person's soul have to be, that need fill it with forced praise from others even after being elected the leader of the free f***ing world? And lol at firing Mueller, that would go so badly for Trump. And I think he knows that. They'd rather, and will, try to undermine him but keep him there anyway.
  15. Today is Rounds 3-10. Starts at noon CT. Sox first pick is 87th overall. Link to the Tracker again, which will be updated near real-time.
  16. See this write up for details on the 21-year old power hitter, including video and quotes.
  17. MLB Draft Discussion is split into a few places now, so I am going to close this one and direct everyone to the PHT threads. There's a pinned main discussion and tracker thread, and a predictions thread there too.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) So, is there anything at all on Alex Call? He's been out for two months now. He'd been taking swings in the cage about a month ago, but then he was slowed down again. Intercostal muscle injury.
  19. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 11:40 AM) link Winston-Salem Hitting Coach Charlie Poe was talking with Rob (FutureSox) about how he's the rare guy who has played himself into a full time role. With his defensive chops (he won awards in college for his D at shortstop), if he keeps hitting, he's a guy to keep an eye on. 23 years old isn't young in High A, but it's not exactly old either, he's fine there.
  20. FYI, there is now a Draft Day One thread pinned in PHT, along with a link to the Tracker. Feel free to discuss over there with the larger audience!
  21. It's MLB Draft Day. This thread can be for discussion of Day One (we'll do another for Day Two). Here's a link to the FutureSox Draft Tracker, where you can track everything. Bookmark it, and refresh it for continuous updates. Let's go!
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) I'm guess W. Garcia or Engel go back to Charlotte. I'll go with this one. They currently have five outfielders, and I bet they want Engel to go back and get more PT. I don't think this is related to Alvarez, or Peter, though neither are exactly beating down the door anyway (though Alvarez has been improving).
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 08:02 PM) Jordan Guerrero a callup candidate? I assume you mean to AAA, in which case, he needs to do this for more than a month. He was shelled last year in AA (for some expected reasons), and struggled again in April before turning it around. If you mean the majors, we're talking 2018 earliest.
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 04:48 PM) I'm not sure if it matters how the revelation came about. Everyone is so concerned with election interfence and the hearing provided us with a bonafide instance of election interference. 99% of things done in congress are dont to support the team. All of a sudden that is an issue when deciding what is permissible or important? You just keep deflecting from the main discussion here - which is why everyone sees that you are really very much a Republican, and will defend your "side" instead of sticking with the subject. Lynch is an aside, and sure, if you want to see it pursued, go ahead. But it's kind of ridiculous that you keep saying things like this... QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 04:50 PM) What is the big takeaway from this hearing? I don't feel like much of a victory came for either side but at least the Lynch nugget confirmed past suspicions of corruption. ...ignoring the obvious take-aways about a sitting President trying to make an investigation go away by attempting to intimidate the director of the FBI, and instead focusing on something that wasn't a topic of the hearing. People might actually believe you aren't a dyed-in-the-wool GOP'er if you at least acknowledged the obviously huge issue of Trump being pretty clearly guilty of Obstruction of Justice. To wit... QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) I don't think it's a important whether Lynch's corrupt behavior ended up hurting the left or not. If you would, since I appreciate your level headedness around here, speak to my post that precedes yours. What is the takeaway today? To me it's Loretta Lynch is as corrupt as I said she was when she had the tarmac meeting last year and John McCain needs to disappear from the public eye for good. I don't think we learned all that much today otherwise . I'd like to hear your take and I'm open to admitting otherwise, but it's a lot of he said, he said. Trump's side says this and Comey says that. ...the bolded is why Trump is guilty. Obstruction doesn't require impact, it only requires action, which is why what Trump did clearly falls within that space. Did Lynch too? Maybe, I don't really know, but again it's not the subject at hand. You just keep ignoring the core facts here, focusing on a side note. And if it's he said, he said, really, it's no contest and Trump has already lost. Comey has a career-long reputation for being very honest (even if his methods have been questionable at times), and has a paper trail for his protection on this. Trump has made even the most corrupt politicians look like paragons of honesty, taking lying to a new and amazing height.
  25. Check in on the top 15-plus propsects in the system in the weekly Top Prospect Report. Some big names struggled, but others are bouncing back, and one made his first appearance of 2017.
