QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 07:13 AM) Very simple, very clear answer: no. I understand what Kap is getting at. For open minded people, there is usually a recognition that evolution exists, and God exists, and if you work them back far enough, they meet. Problem is, many people aren't that open minded, so its either "creation doesn't exist because God did everything" or "God doesn't exist because nature did everything".

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) Besides Andruw Jones, Alexei Ramirez has been swinging for the fences the past 2 years. Beckham has an uncontrolled swing right now and has no idea what he's doing most of the time. Kotsay has a tendency to swing for the fences in situations with ducks on the pond instead of just going for the base hit. Before his resurgence, Quentin was in a real bad habit of trying to hit everything for a HR. Just because the team doesn't hit many home runs lately doesn't mean the tendencies and habits aren't still there. In fact, these are tendencies and habits MANY major league players have, its not exclusive to our team. I just disagree with your assessment. Every hitter occasionally lets loose, but as a team, other than Jones, the Sox are not swinging for the fences very often. Beckham certainly isn't, Kotsay doesn't appear to be, Quentin isn't either. I just don't think you are seeing what the team has been doing for the past month.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) Are you serious with this post? Pre market. Come on.... Well yes I was serious, because the market was... ya know... up. And I wasn't talking pre-open either. broader markets were up just after the open (when I posted), and have been all day.

I'd rather pitch Hudson than Haren, and that's not even counting that we'd have to give up prospects to get Haren. No thanks. Use what little capital we have in the minors to get Dunn on a decent deal if possible, or some other bat, and pitch Hudson.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) Something that will be interesting to see is if Viciedo can develop enough power to hit it out to right center. Last year, we saw Beckham with a ton of warning track power to right center, but unfortunately, he hasn't been able to improve on that. By all accounts, Viciedo defintely has strong oppo power.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) Agreed. I think you could argue the guy taking the hardest swings on the team other than Andruw right now is The Bridge, and he's raking and can do whatever he wants until he remembers he's bad and stops hitting, so it's fine. "The Bridge"? Really?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) Ozzie said yesterday he'd sit him today no matter what. OK, then its a planned thing to give him some rest. As long as he's back tomorrow, this is OK.
-
TCQ out again is starting to worry me a little bit, but its a day game at the end of a series. If he is out tomorrow as well, then I'll be really concerned.

And we're up yet again today.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) i dont know what she is freaking out about. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie got out of jail in like 45 minutes and 13 minutes each after being sentenced to something like a combined 3 months. Its not like Lohan is going to stay in jail for 90 days I love how she insisted to the judge that she was taking this seriously, then the media noticed that before the hearing she had painted on the nail of her middle finger "f*** you". She really doesn't understand reality.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:34 AM) I didn't see the game, only the highlights, but that was a great swing Lillibridge put on that 2-1 pitch with 2 outs where he got that 2 run hit. Ducks on the pond, and instead of trying to crush a 500 ft. homer like most of the other hitters on the team would have done, he just tried to meet the ball and put it in play somewhere, and he did just that. Much props to Lillibridge. You keep hitting on this, but its just not the case. Other than Jones, who always does that, the team has quite clearly been doing the opposite for some time now. In the middle of the run of wins, they went games on end with no home runs and a ton of singles. And no one other than Jones appears to be overswinging. I think perhaps you are stuck in 2009.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:38 AM) If Peavy has to change his mechanics, something in which he hasn't really done.. e v e r, then I don't see a positive outcome after his surgery+rehab, he won't be the same pitcher bad money is bad Peavy only drops down occasionally - and that is the motion ptatc was referring to. The solution is simple, really - don't drop down anymore, unless you can change your drop-down motion.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 07:15 AM) I sure wish he had Uribe's glove. I like Viciedo, but he's a brutal in the field. I'm not yet sure he's any worse than Teahen at 3B. Have to watch him more. He's got a strong arm, seems to have good hands, but his foot work awkward and I have concerns about his range.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) ROTFLMFAO. The best acting job she ever did. Eh, I think she really was that shocked. Which says a lot about the world she lives in, as its clearly not the one the rest of us do.

I'll be there, with brooms on.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Sounds like this could have been avoided if they did an MRI after the KC start, but because the MRI a week before that came back clean, they decided not to do another one. At this point, hopefully he's fine for 2011. What pitchers have come back from this injury in the past? No way. First of all, it was soreness that the pitcher himself said was like the kind any pitcher has regularly. Second, even if they did one, you have no idea if it was torn at that point, and if so, if it was even torn enough to see on an MRI. You are making a huge leap here.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) But he's an innings eater. Hudson averaging 5 innings or so per start will have an overall adverse effect on the entire bullpen. I wouldn't read too much into his current inning load in Charlotte. There can be multiple reasons for his inning and pitch counts.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) If they say detached, that means it came off the bone. Well f***.
-
Detached may not mean fully severed, in which case surgery may not be necessary. Part of the muscle can detach, and the muscle generally can heal. Beyond that, ptatc will have to provide more color. And us acquiring an SP doesn't seem to make much sense. Unless they either don't believe in Hudson (and I think they do), or Hudson is being traded.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Because you assume it is all about price. It is not. Time is MORE important than price, but price is the final arbiter. That still makes no sense. You are saying the DOW will make a slide in the next few days. If you know this for a fact, you will sell now and short now. Waiting only ensures you will lose money. Therefore, if the markets "know" this, they wouldn't have rallied up big today. Now if you are talking long time windows, like months or years, then time is a much bigger issue as it relates to where the money goes.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) The good thing about Dunn is that, if he weren't resigned, his departure would ensure 2 more draft picks for next years draft. You always have to like high draft picks. This team might not be willing to go to Arb with Dunn.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) Haha but would it really surprise you if Kenny did that? Of course not. The system is thin as it is. There are a lot of guys I like, but only Hudson that I have a death grip on. The rest, even Flowers, I might be willing to part with for Dunn. Depending on the package in total.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) If KW and Ozzie can talk into him DHing, then great. How you get him without giving up Hudson (meaning Flowers/Viciedo/Santos), I'm not quite so sure. As far as DH'ing, I bet they alternate Dunn and TCQ in RF and DH, to entice him into being OK with it. Not that it matters, because I don't think Dunn has an NTC, but better to have a happy player than not. The Sox feel they have a very strong pen, and they have some decent relief prospects in the system, so don't be surprised to see a reliever moved (maybe even Santos). Also, Flowers has struggled a bit this year, and I am not 100% sure the Sox are dead set on him being the C of the future. Probably, but not necessarily. So, maybe a package of Flowers, Santos/reliever, and Morel/Danks gets it done?

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) It is called putting in time on the side before next leg down to 940-950. Its called that if you think that's what's going to happen. It might. But explain this to me... if you really think the market knows globally that its going there... what purpose does "time on the side" serve? Why wait for the rest of the crowd to jump out, why not jump out now? There's a logical flaw in this assumption.

QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) From Buster Olney--"one rival executive says the White Sox "are all over Adam Dunn right now." He tweeted this 5 minutes ago. Interesting. What's Olney's track record like for this sort of thing?
