  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) He should be up not Fulmer Neither should be up.
  2. Recap is up. Combined 1-hitter for Dash pitching.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) I prefer to call it the Curse of the Taiwanese Whorehouse If we scripted this Hollywood-style, the movie would now take a turn where a few of the Sox players leave the team to go to Taiwan (or was it Vietnam?), looking for some Oracle and obtaining a McGuffin object that, when brought back to the clubhouse, will lead to winning baseball games. Freeing some indentured prostitutes along the way seems like a side bonus, but in the end the players realize that was what really mattered. Someone pay me my money for this script.
  4. One of the things I enjoy doing is searching for that next out-of-nowhere prospect in the minors. It's hard to do, and I end up wrong plenty. But there's a method to it. Here I lay out that method, and point at a current prospect in the Sox system who fits the bill - Mason Robbins. I wonder if anyone here other than FS writers has even heard of the guy.
  5. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) I'm ready for spring training. This is a good post.
  6. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 08:55 AM) Although not necessarily mentioned in the article, do you have any inkling as to when Jameson Fisher may be promoted? I'd like to see, selfishly of course, Fisher and Call man the OF in tandem throughout the system. I feel that it could be beneficial for the both of them if they get used to playing along side one another, but that may just be me. I think the only thing preventing Fisher from heading to Kanny is the crowd in that outfield. They already have Alex Call, Micker Adolfo, Antonio Rodriguez and Tyler Sullivan, all of whom are prospects at one level or another. One of them would need to go to W-S I think, before Fisher (or Schnurbusch) can move up.
  7. Recap posted. Adolfo getting warm. Banks getting it done.
  8. I mean... this season... Start 23-10. Collapse on the field, and 4 - count them 4 - position players make their White Sox MLB debuts and get hurt THAT DAY. Two won't return this year. The curse of Drake LaRoche.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) I really don't understand the handling of Jackson Glines. I know he was a senior pick but he certainly seemed a little prospecty. Bit of a mystery to me as well, especially since Hostetler went out of his way to praise him after the draft.
  10. Recap right here. Joel Booker making a name for himself in the AZL is interesting.
  11. A handful of the FutureSox writers got together to answer a bunch of questions our readers had about the recent Top 30 prospects list. Some of the questions came from SoxTalk. Here is the Q&A. What are your responses to our thoughts?
  12. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 09:57 PM) thanks for doing the research, analysis and writing these pieces. Very informative and entertaining. A necessary salve for the desultory big-league season. Many thanks. Thanks! And nice word use.
  13. It's not been a great year on the farm, but July was a nice improvement with a lot of good performances in the lower levels. A pitcher and an outfielder currently in Great Falls win the awards for the month. Here's the article. Any of the names (winners or runners up) that anyone is particularly interested in? The Sox are so depressing, might as well focus on the future!
  14. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 08:05 AM) Musta missed that news. Any idea if he has a history on the mound? He started the process about a month ago, and is just now getting into games. He doesn't have any history with it that I know of. But I can tell you he was a fantastic athlete and defensive outfielder who couldn't hit, and since he had a big arm, they figured why not give this a shot.
  15. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 07:02 AM) Northsider: Where do you guys place Tilson in the Prospect List? As noted earlier, that question will be answered in the Q&A post. That probably goes up tomorrow.
  16. Recap posted. Nice pitching all around. Comito and Ledo both quite good for the rookie affiliates.
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 12:41 AM) Luis Curbelo has 16 errors this season. Two tonight got him there. Yikes. Funny thing is, I've now heard from two people who are watching him in person saying he looks like he'll have really good defensive chops.
  18. August is when we'll start hearing reports of what players are going. Typically mid- to late-August. My totally early guesses for good AFL candidates in the system... LHP Jace Fry (if he's pitching by then - coming off 2nd TJS, needs innings) RHP Blake Smith (if he's not in MLB before then - converted OF just coming into his own, needs exposure) 1B Danny Hayes (missed time) RHP Nolan Sanburn (need to see what he has, he's finally getting decent results this year, need to decide on keeping or dumping) SS Eddy Alvarez (needs to accelerate path, versus good competition) RHP Jacob Morris (converted position player, getting pretty good, needs refinement) RHP Connor Walsh (missed time to injury) OF Mason Robbins (potential is real, just getting right rhythm, could use more time against tough pitching) C Brett Austin (losing time to Collins and missed some with injury, need him to get on track)
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 04:41 PM) Again, not trying to be a dick. I think you guys do an incredible job and I love these lists. I just don't agree with the Call ranking. First, I put huge stock in Hostetler's assessment of Call (from raBBit's interview) and he raved about the kid. His signing bonus reflects that the Sox don't view him as reach and I believe that. Also, when it comes to the comparison vs Fisher, Call provides defensive value. Until Fisher proves he can play a position, his value is somewhat limited. Right now, Call should be hands down the higher rated prospect IMO. It's a very good question, that's why I want to add it to the mailbag. Not dickish at all. But I do think it's much less clear than you make it, which is sort of the debate here. We'll be going over that in an article. I'll probably also ask Callis about, since he puts the gap far wider than even we did.
  20. One more call for questions for the mail bag on rankings. Who or what would you like to see the writers expound on? Someone too high or too low? Something not already brought up in this thread of course.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) This organization has some dumb promotions. This and the Fulmer. They needed an arm in AA rotation. But, I would rather have seen Stephens move up than Adams myself. I think Stephens is more ready for that jump right now, even if his ceiling is lower than Adams'. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Really wish he could discover his fastball again. He didn't lose it - it's been re-tooled, and subsumed by the 2-seamer. By design. To wit... QUOTE (newbiesoxfan @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 08:03 AM) I'm probably alone, but I like the promotion. Take that back, I like him being with another team/coach. Not at all saying the coaches are bad at WS. I think Batista was trying to make him into a type pitcher he isn't. I just don't see him being a total pitch to contact type. Plus his delivery looks totally different. Completely. Idk, maybe that's not a bad thing??? I know he really like Perdew while he was at WS last year. I think his #'s will slowly improve. Especially the K's. JMO, we'll see They have really changed Spencer, pretty dramatically. I've written about it. And if course, you'd know! Hard to say if it's really for the best or not.
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) I appreciate and respect all the Future Sox writers, but Call being ranked 15th is absurd. Behind Fisher? What? Also, Micker needs to be bumped down a bit until he shows some baseball ability. And no Delmonico in the top 30? I'm not sure why he was excluded. I think we're going to tackle the Call vs Fisher debate in that Q&A post. But I'll just say a few basic things for now. First, in case you think we're crazy, look at the list Jim Callis (MLB Pipeline) put out - they have Fisher higher (8) and Call lower (to 24) than we do. So apparently they're even more absurd. Also, just out of curiosity, what makes people think Call is so clearly better than Fisher? If you're looking at rookie league numbers for college graduates, for a month, those should have very little bearing. If you're looking at college results, Fisher was far more impressive in a stronger league. So I guess what I'm asking is, what makes people think Call is better than Fisher?
  23. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) Call is underrated IMO. Why is he below Jameson Fisher? He is younger and has produced better at a tougher position. He should be above Fisher. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) Curbelo at # 7? Both good Mail Bag topics, thanks!
