QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) do you have to set it for all of the playoffs or just each series? I think its series by series. If its all postseason, then you have to put CQ in there somewhere.
-
So, if you are Ozzie/KW, who do you put on your 25 man roster? Also, if anyone sees the actual 25 man posted, feel free to post it in this thread. My 25 man... AJP PK Lexi O-Cab Uribe Dye Junior Swish Thome Wise* Anderson Bourgeois Hall Buehrle Vaz Danks Floyd Jenks Thornton Dotel Linebrink H Ramirez Carrasco MacDougal Richard * = if CQ is healthy, he replaces Wise I could see keeping Russell or Wassermann over Ramirez or Richard, since you've got 2 other lefties in there, that's a tough call. Thoughts?

Has to be done. This is Vazquez' biggest career game, right here. Let's see you show that talent when it matters most, Javy.

AND THATS A CENTRAL DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 08:10 AM) What an incredible experience. As I said yesterday I absolutely lucked into tickets in sec 145 in the front row behind the tarp. Every aspect of the game was played well by the Sox. Danks had an answer for everyone all night. I don't remember seeing it mentioned yet, but the hit and run double play in the first inning was so huge in settling Johnny down and making him feel like he could make his pitches, because the D would carry him. The Mauer bunt was a huge favor, and a by product of the Dome being their home stadium. In our park it dies. In their park it rolls down the line for a basehit. The Griffey throw was something Anderson doesn't make, because he isn't nearly as accurate. I don't know how the hell AJ held onto that ball, but it set the ballpark into a frenzy. We were all convinced the offense would go crazy after that because the energy was unmatched. I don't know WTF Gomez even turned around for on the Thome HR. He would have needed a Go-Go-Gadget arm to get that one. You knew when it left his bat that you needed to find your tape measure for it How about Ozzie leaving Danks not only to start the eighth inning, but also to leave him in AFTER a runner got on? Wow. The Anderson catch to end it was legendary. Griffey doesn't come close to it. Again, Ozzie with his guys in the right place at the right time. And how about Bobby's pitching? He was geeked up something fierce. He was only hitting 97 on the gun in the park gun, so I think the 99/100 was a little exagerated, but still, he was unhittable. After the game, we had Jim Thome standing on the tarp in front of us and gving the champagne spray, as was Juan Uribe. We also had Jermaine come over and celebrate with us too. What a night! Clinching at home rules!!!! I saw you jump up for a foul ball too, from my seats in 155. That game was awesome. Just awesome. Danks' start, Jenks' close, Griffey, AJ, Thome... just wow. The Griffey/Aj homeplate play was the difference maker, IMO. The celebration after was fun too. Not sure if someone pointed this out yet, but, think about this... in 2005, the Sox didn't have a single clinching moment IN CHICAGO - they clinched the division in DET, the ALDS in BOS, the ALCS at LAA, and the WS at HOU. So this was something we hadn't seen in Chicago in a long time. GO SOX! -
Gun at the stadium showed Jenks at 96 and 97 a few times, and someone said it flashed 98 but I didn't see it. So I don't think TBS' gun was hot by more than a couple clicks, tops. Jenks was just hyped up in a big way.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) It's not all about defense from a backup catcher, otherwise Miguel Olivo would be back. The pitchers have to be comfortable throwing to him or else it's all for not. And statistically, Miguel Olivo would have been a fantastic backup catcher for the Sox. This was a strength of D Lucy's - he was said, by pitchers and coaches, to be very good at game calling.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) People are really undecided? I could see it. These are both strong candidates (compared to the folks we saw in 2004 and 2000 anyway), and I myself had a hard time with the decision for a while.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 04:05 AM) This has nothing to do with either candidate, but I finally registered to vote today. I've been putting it off for no reason, and today just decided to go get a form and fill the darn thing out. It feels good to have finally done it. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) Just throwing this out there for debate: What if instead of giving $700 billion to Wall Street, we take that $700 billion spread it out to every single US citizen? Its not giving $700B to Wall Street. Its acquiring debt instruments that are made up of things like mortgages, that the people in this country are behind on.

QUOTE (maki @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) its face, i just threw it in this thread for the timeframe of the situation. all eyes are on the main board. That's fine. I'd put a thread in TE too though - wouldn't hurt, since there are a bunch of people looking in there. -

I think these awards really need to wait to see who wins the AL Central, particularly MVP. MVP is related to how the team does.

QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 11:28 AM) man.. I didn't even try to get tickets because I didn't have anyone to go with.. but i'm impressed that Sox fans are going to show up, in full force, for this game. Hopefully enough people heard to wear black! that's gonna be REALLY cool to see! Who needs people to go with? There were scattered singles available. I got one probably 15 minutes into the process, and in the lower bowl at that. I did actually try for 2 first though - no luck. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:22 PM) In an intelligent proposal, Senator Obama suggests increasing the amount of money the FDIC insures to $250k. IF we do that (which might not be a bad idea), can we please, for f***ing once, be smart enough to build in an inflationary increase? So that we don't create yet more work for Congress to f*** up later?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:48 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/29/mir...ref=mpstoryview Good article, and some interesting points. I agree on the majority, and it speaks to what I mentioned a while back - any bailout plan needs to be followed by changing the rules to get rid of this current system. But the article still doesn't make any real good point about what to do in the short term, which is what the bailout is.

One game to rule them all. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) And THE only way that is going to happen is if the nations that are wealthy enough to pay for the R&D spend the money to develop those systems for themselves...and then start using their trading power to "encourage" other nations to join in. This. Or a little differently, WE need to be on the leading edge, and sell-sell-sell it all over the world. The more we sell, the cheaper it will get, the more poor countries can jump in on it.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) I didn't say that the US couldn't cut their emmissions, but that the supposed world goal will never be reached by just the US and EU cutting off thier balls while everyone else can hang free. I think the economic impact of civilized nations cutting emissions while developing nations aren't doing so as much has been greatly exaggerated.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) You will never get the type of positive change you want nuntil you can bring on board all the poor coutries. Handicapping the US and Europe while China and India proceed full steam ahead is just economic disaster on a different level. The Eu already tried to find every way possible to get out of their Kyoto committments. Now they are trying harder. http://www.euractiv.com/en/climate-change/...-175773?Ref=RSS That argument is akin to saying you can't stop driving like an asshole because other people still drive like assholes. Someone has to go first, and the others are a lot more likely to take it easy if some people have the balls and the brains to see the big picture. We're supposed to lead. Let's lead.
