QUOTE (Soxy @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) Sidebar, but how is Lisa Madigan doing politically? Does it seem likely she'll stay as AG or is there talk of her running for another office? Popular as ever. She can't go after Blago, though - has to be the feds. Lisa's father is Blago's biggest enemy, so that wouldn't look good. Here's my prediction - she's on the short list for US AG if Obama wins the Presidency.

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) Hall is worthless. Twinkies have it right. At least Redmond can stop the running game some. Hall couldn't throw Konerko or Thome out. Just one of many good decisions Kenny Kool will have to make. Actually yes, it was indeed a good decision at the time. The Sox didn't have a solid backup option in house, so he went and got Hall, whose resume indicated he was a very good choice. Now, since his shoulder injury and weight gain, he isn't the same guy. But the signing, at the time, was solid.

Donny Lucy was all set to become AJ's backup in 2009. RH hitter that isn't great with the bat, but shows some occasional pop. Very good defensively. Hits lefties better than righties. Seemed like a solid replacement for Hall, probably an upgrade. But he blew out his knee back in July, so the whole backup C picture is in limbo. Can Lucy come back 100% from that? Cole Armstrong is next in line, but he hits lefty and offers nothing that Lucy doesn't. No one else in the system is ready. Innoye is closest, but he's a couple years away, I think. Paul Phillips maybe? Or maybe we take Hall's 2009 option? I'd like to see Lucy play winter ball, if he's ready. If he can be healthy again, I'd like to see him and Phillips have a tryout in ST 2009. Best man wins. Hall hits the road.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry1761969 Well, if that person was right, only full season holders get it. That makes sense, as we're partial, and didn't get it. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) Season ticket holders get it as part of their playoff package. No we didn't. I am looking at my playoff/WS tickets right now, and there isn't anything there for a one game playoff. Unless its only online or something. I am going to go check. -

I've got a question about this game too. How will tickets work? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:06 PM) If you think day trading is the problem here, you have been listening to too much propaganda. At the end of the day a day trader is flat and has exactly zero effect on the commodity in which they are trading. For every buy they execute, they also sell. To blame them for trillion dollar hole just demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of how the markets actually work. It would be like instituting an email tax to stop internet porn. ^^^^ That.

Here's a thought. If McCain can't make the debate, then wouldn't it make sense to send his #2 in his stead? Palin v Obama debate?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:02 AM) BTW, 670 came in pretty clear in KC for the Tuesday game. Wow. OK, maybe I'll be able to stick with 670 the whole way. Thanks. -

QUESTION FOR ANYONE IN WISCONSIN: I will be driving from Chicago to the LaCrosse area tonight, hoping to listen to the game over radio. I know 670 will get me pretty far, but, I'm guessing I'll lose it by Madison. Anyone know of any radio stations in southern WI that broadcast the games? -

Must. f***ing. Win. That. Is. All. -
Postponing the debate a couple days, so that Obama and McCain can be... ya know... SENATORS... is a good idea. Suspending the campaign seems a little much. Like, trying to make a big thing of it for publicity. If it was really just wanting to fix things, they'd issue a joint statement, postpone the debate to Sunday evening, and then move on.

Can't hurt. -
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:35 AM) You have heard of the "Great Depression," right? Not to hijack the thread or make excuses for Joe Biden, but that comment is just flat wrong. Actually, his comment is correct. A depression is not a crash. A crash is a crash.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 05:49 PM) Voter hijinks in Ohio as Republicans try to disqualify thousands of absentee ballots. http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...30318/1055/NEWS Oops, sorry, it was a DEMOCRAT trying to disqualify thousands of absoentee ballots. I have been thinking... would it be a good idea to have voting and voting machines handled by commissioners of some sort that are NOT tied to a political party? -
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) McCain likely would have the majority of states, whereas obama would have the two huge population states, Cali and New York. I should have been more specific - I get McCain. What I don't get is Biden.
-
QUOTE (longshot7 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 04:10 PM) Did anyone read the Constitution????? They keep voting until one candidate receives a MAJORITY of State Delegations - that's 26. (As voted by the NEW Congress) The Senate picks the VP, so we could see McCain/Biden. Where do you make the leap to McCain/Biden?

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) Going to add in some more confusion. We are only partial, and as I said, I got a ticket. And Mike, there was no lottery, at least for me. I went to the site, went to the Game 1 option, and entered in the password our rep gave us. Dan will be getting a not happy phone call when I'm done eating lunch.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 11:43 AM) No, his point is if he's an ARAB-American, then why would he get all the AFRICAN-American vote? He's not "black" - (please forgive my tone, I'm just trying to articulate what he was trying to point out, IMO). It's not about hate, as much as some want it to be. Obama is as much Arab as, say, Gov Jindal is.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) I thought his Dad was from Kenya? That's much more African than it is Arabian, isn't it? The point by Limbaugh is just plain ridiculous and makes no sense. That.
-
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) I believe it was a presale for full season ticket holders only. It allowed you to buy two upper deck tickets for either (but not both) of the potential home games in the ALDS only. Ah, so it was for full season holders only. Got it. Thanks.
-
QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) No I don't think the lottery winners for tickets have been chosen yet... I could be wrong though. You should receive an email either way... accepted or declined. Now I'm confused again. Tony, did your rep just send you an email saying you got extra tickets? Did you request them in some way? My rep is about to get an angry email.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 10:57 AM) So you must have been a lottery winner. Congrats. I didn't even know we could enter a lottery. How did that work? Oh well. We'll get our guaranteed tickets at least.
