  1. So are there two Jared Diamond's who are authors? I have read a few books by Jared Diamond including Guns, Germs and Steel, the World Before Yesterday and Collapse, but I see nothing about him having a baseball book. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_Diamond
  2. And the fun part is we have an executive order that anyone coming from out of state is supposed to self-quarantine for 14 days before going any where public. But there is literally zero enforcement mechanism so as you can imagine, our parking lots are filled with Illinois license plates.
  3. The malls are opening up already. Beaches are opening back up. The casinos will not happen to June, but it is coming. The ones that scare me are the ones with crowds, and those are the big 3.
  4. Honerstly, I think the biggest danger for Illinois right now is the states around them starting to open up again. Indiana is a huge flow of vacation time and get aways for people from Illinois. Once this gets cranking up around here again, and then the out of state crowd starts showing up to bring it back home again, this is will be ugly.
  5. Watching Last Dance reminded me of another thought on Shaq. He ran a 2020 offense under Phil Jackson and the triangle. That offense was all about spacing, and moving the floor to find the unbalanced and open players. You could have easily dropped him into a 2020 spacing based offense and he would have been ready to go. The league has become what the triangle promoted in spacing and ball movement.
  6. Do you not wash your hair in those 3.5 months? Because that is the only reason it wouldn't be sanitary.
  7. Yet his posts scream the complete opposite. I wonder why that is? Actually I don't.
  8. Now you know why they were willing to punt on the draft. The MLB guys got theirs.
  9. So you get to stay the victim, while pretending not to be the victim. This is A+ trolling.
  10. If you were to extrapolate this out to the US population, that means we would have about 3 million cases. With the massive undertesting that is happening, and the stories about many asymptomatic carriers out there my hope was that the number of carriers would be bigger and that we were further along in the spread phase of this. If this sample really is somewhat indicative of the population as a whole, that means 99% of the population nationwide hasn't been exposed yet, and we have a LONG way to go.
  11. How old are you? What is your health like? What is your profession? Your parents still around? Spouse or kids have health considerations? What odds are you willing to accept that you live through Covid contacts? What would you think if you carried it and one of your parents died? What about a spouse or friend? See instead of thinking about screwing up my own hair with a pair of clippers, I choose to think that by avoiding the barbershop I potentially avoided picking up the virus and passing it on to my immunocompromised mother in law whose lowered White blood cell count wouldn't survive this virus. I think of my dementia inflicted mother who wouldn't understand why she couldn't leave the hospital if she got this by people roaming through her care facility. I think of my high school buddy down the street whose wife is immunocompromised and waiting on a transplant who would die if she got Covid. See this is why you run people the wrong way. As everyone here makes sacrifices to ensure life for the ones who don't possess the ability to fight this you take a national tragedy where 10's of thousands of people are already dead and you make it about you and your poor inconveniences. Making a mockery of mental health by tying your hair to mental health, when families have moms and dads who will never come home and are suffering from real depression and mental health effects is insulting. Think of someone other than yourself for once. Quit equating normal people's inconveniences with the true suffering going on in the world right now. Part of me is probably more enraged than I should be because I think no adult gets this far in life by being this self absorbed and unconscious of the world around them. I also remember you as a very different person when you came to Soxtalk back in the day and suspects this "greg" is all an act, which makes these posts even worse. Give all of us a break here and start worrying about other people, instead of you and this show.
  12. We only have the best administrators at Soxtalk.
  13. Agreed. Grocery bill is WAY up, but dining out and gas are down by a lot more. Impulse buys are also completely gone now.
  14. You don't have to buy it. It was widely reported that the Tigers being willing to take on the contract, while the White Sox would not, was the difference in what deal they accepted. It allowed the Marlins two move two big contracts at at they wanted to fire up cash.
  15. Umpires would be a group that a lot of them would be high risk for sure.
  16. The big difference was Detroit took on the Willis contract too.
  17. It is bad enough to read too far into spring training and stats, but we are going to read career altering conclusions into a fraction of spring training? Nah. Pass.
  18. The leak was that they didn't make a formal offer. No idea if that is true or not.
