Honestly, I really am. Even trying to paint a scenario that "works" has so many major holes in it, it really feels close enough to impossible to have no reason to entertain as a possible reality.

Honestly, even if the Sox went nuts in FA, it always seems like that the team that wins the winter gets off to a slow start. I don't know if it is the need to get different and unfamiliar players comfortable with each other or what, but it never seems to work out.

You mean besides an elliptical being equal to playing in the majors? Come on man. It obviously isn't nearly as easy as you are making it out to be or position players wouldn't be on the DL on a regular basis.

Realistically if the Sox spent $500 or $600 million this off season, and added $75 to $100 million to the payroll this year in an effort to compete would they still be deadline shopping?

Well they have the entire winter to talk about it.

You'd need... -Incredible health from players who haven't remained healthy on the average, and those who have. -The Sox to hit the free agency market extremely hard AND for those players all to have historical or better than historical seasons -Huge growth from all of the core players such as Moncada, Giolito, Lopez, Anderson, etc -Big years out of the kids in the pen from at least 4 or 5 of them, including being able to slot a 90% conversion closer and key set up men. -Instant contributions from Eloy and any other rookies called up. -The Indians do not sell off, or do not sell very many core pieces at all -No one else emerges from the pack with a miracle year. We are talking about a 3rd standard deviation scenario here, maybe more. Again, I am pretty comfortable of saying 0 chance that the White Sox are a playoff team in 2019.

I think if every single thing went right this season, we probably top out around 85 wins.

It is quite literally when you get to the point where you accrue less than 162 days on the major league roster in one season. I want to say there are somewhere around 175 days (that number might be off by a couple, but close anyway) in a regular season. If you accrue 162 days on a roster, that is considered "1 year of service". If you accrue 161 days, it is not a year, and there for the team still controls you for a whole other year.

Let me say this unequivocally. There is nothing the White Sox can do this off season to be a playoff team in 2019.

Yeah, despite what fans might think of him, I have yet to see any player even hint badly of Ricky. I know the initial returns were very much positive, especially when compared to Robin. There hasn't been much said now, but I have yet to see anything that hints that this has changed.

Probably, I mean let's face it. No matter where the fault lies, the die has been cast. If Q is really the hero in this story, the Hawks will continue to lose, and Bowman is on the hot seat now anyway. It is now officially his team, with no one else to hide behind. If this continues to deteriorate, Bowman is next. If Q was part of the problem, in theory we should see some improvement, and that is what we really want.

I don't think that Illinois can be fiscally fixed through normal means. The time to do it was decades ago. Now we are talking about radical taxation to fix the problem.

Tax returns are going to be the same thing as emails, and largely more irrelevant. It is such a waste of time, yet completely unsurprising. Again, if the goal is to out GOP the Republican party, have at it.

I am pretty sure it would have been pretty unprecedented to do what is being talked about there. I might be missing some, but I can't think of anyone who put up those kind of numbers, and carried that kind of prospect ranking/expectations/ spending parts of 3 seasons in AAA.
