  1. If this was the Price is Right I would go 20,001.
  2. It suddenly feels like Super bowl week when you know too much time has been wasted on nonsense.
  3. What is funny about this post @Juschill?
  4. Looks like Harper has somewhere around $5 million left to be paid this year. Their payroll looks to be $194.2 million at this point for the 2018 season. Not sure how accurate that is, as it comes from Sportrac, but that would have put them over the $197 million figure from the looks of it.
  5. If the got offered less than the value of a mid first round pick to an early second round pick, there was no reason to let him go for nothing.
  6. I promise you that the entire Sox roster has been blasted through waivers this month. If he is here, no one offered anything of substance for him.
  7. It is really starting to look like his body might not be able to hold up to playing the OF. 2 trips for his hammy, 1 trip for his back, 1 trip last year for his knee, over the last couple of years.
  8. Damn Ricky overusing his starters.
  9. The team is going to get better as every high end piece is added. The starting pitching keeps getting better and better. Kopech slotting in will be a huge shot in the arm, even if he takes a while to adjust. What might actually make the biggest impact in the short term is when the back end relievers start showing up on the roster. The starting pitching and hitting has gotten to a point where it is at least respectable, but the pen is still trash. When you start to add Hamilton, a healthy Burdi, Bummer, Fraere, etc into the pen next year, and some of the guys like Minaya who have been high leverage guys this year shove down to middle relief, the team gets a lot better. And that is just the leading wave. If they don't work out, there are guys like Ryan Burr, Tyler Johnson, and Jose Ruiz are the next phase. That isn't even counting guys like Covey would could be failed starters who hit it big in the pen down the road.
  10. Typically teams don't get that dirty unless they are contending.
  11. For low level teams, no reason to do so. If you aren't contending, why bother? You aren't going to package up prospects for a guy who is leaving in two months. The teams below the Dodgers really don't have a chance at contending anyways. There is also probably an element of believing they won't trade Harper anyway.
  12. Yep. Teams can talk themselves into funny things on draft day.
  13. The most K's for a White Sox pitcher making his major league debut is nine. Can Kopech do it? Let's hear everyone's predictions on IP/ER/H/BB/K
  14. We are also in an era that values 1b/DH types less then ever historically. If you can't play a skill position, you get dinged for it.
  15. Great outing by Lucas. Real nice work to close out the 6th. The 2 extra ERs will obscure what was another good outing.
