QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 10:17 PM) He's giving Madrigal a 2015 draft Bregman comp. If he's comparing him to this version of Bregman, then he's also saying Turang will struggle a lot in his 1st full major league season. That is a whole lot of castle built on a quick comp. In the long run the comp means nothing.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 08:39 AM) I'm not really sure what they're supposed to do here. Mirotic and Portis need to sit and hash it out or Mirotic probably shouldn't be at the facility. They aren't trading Portis and can't trade Mirotic until January 15th. At some point team leadership needs to take over and make something happen. If Hoiberg can't handle it, the front office should figure out if the problem is Coach or a player. If the player is a problem and it can't be fixed, get rid of somebody. You can't have this stupid stuff in the news every single day.

Honestly, I don't care much about offense from our catchers right now. I want a pitcher's catcher in there with our young staff. Someone who can impart wisdom, be solid defensively, and frame a bit to minimize wear and tear on young arms. On a team that isn't going to compete, having a catcher that can aid the growth of our staff might be the one thing I really want to see the White Sox do this winter.

QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 05:41 PM) On the White Sox Talk podcast they said he was with the organization as a minor league outfield and baserunning instructor. He's done off season and spring training stuff for a number of years now, IIRC.

Depending on when a judgment comes down, I wonder if he could wait until next July when more teams are in the running?

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 09:31 PM) Strongly disagree. This is a team that was above .500 in September, and the young guys are only getting better. Decent chance that if there is a really a trade market for Avi, that both Avi and Abreu go out the door this winter. That changes the whole equation.

I'd have no problem with him coming in to eat some innings for this season on a one year flyer type of deal.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 03:43 PM) Yep because the Sox haven't done that before or anything. Can we please get rid of the idea that this is Takatsu or Tadahito? This isn't a mediocre and older free agent that isn't attracting much interest in the US. This is quite literally the biggest free agent play in he history of Japanese baseball. It isn't to be enough to get by on watching video's on Kenny's PC. There is zero to indicate the White Sox are involved at all, including their own actions. If there was anything other than WELL THEY COULD BE to go off of here, I could respect it, but there is quite literally zero, and meanwhile a most of the rest of baseball is doing stuff.

If you believe the tweet from this morning, Micker is not being added.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) Who says they aren't trying? The Sox normally operate below the radar. I guess one way to operate under the radar is to not go see or scout the guy you are trying to sign.

Nudes.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) That doesn't preclude the possibility of the White Sox pursuing or signing him. It kind of does. It is kind of hard to sign a guy who you aren't trying to sign, especially when you have teams of every size and shape trying to give the guy anything he wants to come here. If the Sox really want him, they sure have a funny way of showing it.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 02:42 PM) So more than half of the teams didn't attend, then? Because apparently every team has shown interest in him at the GM meetings. There hasn't been a single public connection between the Sox and Ohtani.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) Really? Well that's news. I'm not that high on Adolfo but if he's a plus in the OF that raises his ceiling quite a bit. If he's +5 runs in RF than he just has to hit something like 260/320/450 to be a solid starter. I'm just happy he had a good year and is apparently friendly with Eloy. Anything he gives the Sox at the MLB level at this point is a bonus IMO. There's so much other talent in the system we don't need to be putting all our hopes and dreams on a few guys anymore. Also, thanks a lot for your AAP updates. First, no problem. Second, Rowand just spent a week down there working with a bunch of the OFs. He spent about half an hour on the Garfien podcast, and talked about a decent amount of them. Rowand really loved his arm.

Listening through the Chuck Garfien White Sox podcast, Aaron Rowand compared Micker Adolfo's arm to Vlad Guerrero/Jesse Barfield, called it among the best RF arms he has ever seen.
