QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 24, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) We did. Sorry you were under a rock when Butlers trainer blasted Garpax last year, but that article basically says "We had injuries, a normal parting with Thibs, and players are divas" There is little to no criticism of how terrible the actual trade with the Thunder was, how they actually admitted they took the first deal offered for Butler last summer, how many truly terrible personnel moves they made to get them to the point that they are at right now. Nothing Yeah finally getting through the whole thing it was a mess of excuses none of which seemed to relate to upper management. Oh the poor Bulls would have been fine if...

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 24, 2017 -> 08:18 PM) Over the last 17 years, dating back to when the Sox "got good," I think they've traded away all of like 3-5 prospects that really hurt at all. I'm just wondering why no one here is b****ing about the Sox trading for Brett Myers in 2012. Chris Devenski has only put up 4.3 WAR over his first two seasons as a reliever. There are times you trade away prospects who are toolsheds, and 9 times out of 10 those guys flare out almost immediately. Not having Tatis sucks, but it is what it is. Quit giving people ideas.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 02:29 AM) Seby Zavala should be moving up the org depth chart right now. The White Sox should give him a shot to make the roster out of camp and if for some reason he doesn't make the team, he should get full time catcher reps in Charlotte. This is the type of thing that really accelerates a rebuild, finding a guy like Seby Zavala who comes out of nowhere to be a 4+ WAR player at a premium position for you, which he will be if he continues to hit the way he has for the past year and just manages to be not terrible as a catcher defensively. If he can hit like that and play good defense, he could be a future MVP candidate. No one is skipping AA. Let's not be crazy. Yes he had a great year, but in all seriousness, when is the last time you saw ANYONE skip, AA completely?

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 07:05 AM) Not a "buy-low" candidate but Adrian Gonzalez really has no room on the Dodgers roster. He would be the perfect guy to trade for (along with a good prospect or two) if he was with another team but since the Dodgers don't really seem to care about money, it's likely they'd be more willing to release him. He's set to make $22.4 million next season, the last year of his contract. Not sure where he would play here either. We already have a couple of DH's in the starting line up, with a couple of more potentially on the way in our top two draft picks last season.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 24, 2017 -> 08:11 PM) Chris Widger, Timo Perez, Pablo Ozuna Lyle Mouton quitely cries.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 24, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) Tbh the real story is not able to be written by a guy like Friedell who still needs to keep some doors open for access. The big Chicago stories never come from local media. They bury it as a favor to the franchise so they get favors later.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 24, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) What will be interesting is how many games the White Sox keep on the terrestrial station like WGN. If the Cubs start a network, I would imagine they will have all their games possible on it. The White Sox on WGN might actually work a little bit like the Cubs on WGN worked back in the 70s and 80s. It would be to a lesser extent obviously, and purely local, but with cord cutting, etc, not everyone will have the Cubs channel. White Sox games on free TV could build up the base a little bit. WGN isn't broadcasting games nationally anymore. They are out of the sports business for the superstation. Those games only go locally into the Chicago market.

This is the type of thing we won't hear anything about until the deal is announced.

Tilson, Petricka and Putnam.

Sadly Cody Asche has also elected free agency, as has Jean Machi.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 23, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) He doesnt really have a single actual NFL receiver on the field. Its hard to judge anyone with that. Exactly. This is a joke of an offense right now. It is pure trash.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Oct 23, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) Sox are far more budget constrained at the high end than the Cubs. Meaning ability to expand the budget if they are a player or two away. No kidding. I don't think anyone else knew that, just as no one else realized that Tatis was good yet. Can we get back to Eloy yet?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 23, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) 2016, not so much. Also from two whole months ago. http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/05/politics/hil...ened/index.html Or this. http://time.com/4569766/bernie-sanders-ralph-nader-2016/

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 23, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) Not sure where this "demonizing" is happening. Last I checked Sanders was appointed as the Chair of Outreach of the Democratic party after the election. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/11...reach/93960822/ Seems like Democrats worked in good faith to set Bernie up for a potentially successful run in 2020, but Bernie is deciding to burn those bridges. 2016, not so much.

I just hope with the cord cutting going on, and the collapse in sports ratings in general that we beat the bubble bursting for local TV deals.

He probably got sick of being demonized by the party of acceptance as if he was responsible for what happened in 2016.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 23, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) The other part of that quote leads me to believe that despite Bobby punching and injuring Niko the locker room is backing Portis. Reading between the lines it is either that or Niko is blaming the team at large for it happening.

QUOTE (Da_Goob @ Oct 22, 2017 -> 07:22 PM) How you can look at this team and not see progress over last year is beyond me. The Bears have no weapons on the outside. They got hurt. It sucks, but it is what it is. They're starting a rookie QB. They've had the lead the last two weeks so there was no reason for them to go air the ball out and risk turnovers when they didn't need to.They have already equaled their wins from last year where most people had the Bears penciled in at 0-7 or 1-6. Winning games in an absolutely unsustainable fashion isn't progress.
