  1. Things I found interesting- Kenny has largely stepped away from the day to day stuff, and does more player evaluation than anything else on a day to day basis. Rick does the leg work and then brings names to Kenny to look at and evaluate. Kenny also went to great lengths to stay away from speaking on many details of the day to day stuff, saying it was up to Hahn to talk about it, if he wanted to do so. Kenny also said that nothing in the way of a Q trade has been presented to him from Rick Hahn. With the way he said it (using a present tense in "wants to do", not "wanted to do"), I think he meant currently, but he could well have been saying they have never gotten to the upper management level of a Quintana trade proposal. 2. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) I mean... of course. That happens on both sides, and always has. MoveOn, OurRevolution, Shaun King, Michael Moore, Women's March, etc, etc, etc, etc of course they're making money - this is their job. But that's not what the rabid Trumpsters are saying. They think every one of us is being paid to rally, because that's what their leaders are leading them to believe. Eh, it is a common tactic of both sides of the aisle to take a thought with a basis in fact, but turn it into something completely false. I can't tell you how many things that are being attributed to EVERYONE WHO VOTED FOR TRUMP since the election.

  9. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) Thats not really true. Frazier still carries significant value, the issue in dealing Frazier is that there is no market for him at this point. Almost all the contenders have legitimate 3B candidates already and there aren't any non-contenders that are interested in giving up anything of value for a one year rental. For a market for Frazier to develop, you would need the Braves to be a legit contender in the NL East, Sandoval to get hurt/or permanently moved to 1B/DH, Johnny Peralta to get traded/released or the Yankees to find themselves in contention. Other than that, there just aren't any viable places for him to land. Given the positions of each of those teams, they are going to go into the season with what they have and find out where they are when the summer rolls around. Thats when they will start to feel comfortable about giving up assets for a one year rental. With the contract he has for this year, and the free agency in the distance after this season, he really doesn't have any trade value.
  10. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) The same Adolfo signed the same year the Cubs signed BOTH Gleyber Torres AND Eloy Jimenez? That Adolfo? Injuries have also made evaluating Adolfo pretty difficult.

  16. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) Sox need to do a better job with international scouting and signings The bonus skimming deal really set them back, but hopes are that Paddy can start to right the ship Frankly, the mlb needs to overhaul it's international player rules. Having a few clubs go nuts with overspending in certain years is really not the best way to handle it. Next CBA should include more discussion on an international draft They did. For starters they instituted a hard cap on spending.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 12:53 PM) This is true, but to raBBit's point the early returns haven't been promising. Out of the first group, Martinez is probably the biggest success and he barely cracked futuresox's top 30. I'm higher than most on Cruz, but he doesn't deserve a top 30 spot at this point in time. Rodriguez's 2016 season was a huge failure. Same goes for Adolfo, although it's way too early to jump to any conclusions on him just yet. Honestly, outside of Nunez's breakout season, Solorzano's solid performance (despite underwhelming stuff), and Tatis's rise in prospect status (not with us mind you), there were simply not a lot of positives on the Latin American side of things. For the most part outside of big named signings, most of these guys coming out of LA don't make their marks this early. We are finally getting to the point where some of these guys should start to emerge or wash out. The process is just so long coming out of signing as a 16 year old.
