  1. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) If Theo calls and offers Schwarber, Baez, Contreras, Happ, Jimenez....you hang up the phone on them? Give me a break. If it makes the Sox better for long term sustainable growth as a franchise, you do the deal. To quote the Andy to the warden in Shawshank, "Why are you being so obtuse?" Like I said earlier, I would bet money that a conversation between the two happened at some point, with Hahn asking for something similar in return. Then it got turned into the Sox wouldn't deal with the Cubs.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) I'm not sure I am willing to concede that, but even so, it will be years either way, using your logic. The White Sox being better, sooner, is so much more important to me than anything the Cubs are doing, whether with former White Sox players or not. I guess all I'll say is I hope our FO aligns with my thoughts, and not yours. Realistically, all you have to do is to read any thread that mentions the Cubs to see the reaction of the White Sox fan base to understand the extra level of bitterness that has to do with anything including the Cubs. The reactions in this thread alone tell that story. And in this situation, I don't see the Cubs having the ability to make the Sox the best offer without blowing up their starting line up, so this whole argument is essentially moot anyway.
  3. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 48m48 minutes ago Source confirms: #Astros made big run at Cespedes, as @Buster_ESPN said. Encarnacion as 1B/DH also would fit. Gurriel could be 1B/DH/LF.

  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) If Sale wins ANYWHERE else, people are going to be bitter about it. Now I concede that the Cubs/White Sox nonsense would add some flavor to this that would simply not be present with other clubs, irregardless if they won with Sale. However, that being said, would that bitterness go away if you were watching a young, exciting club like the Cubs are actually winning again on the southside? If that could come sooner, rather than later, you wouldn't accept Sale being on the northside versus the Red Sox? Or in Houston? Except it will be years before that actually happens, if it ever does.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) It's not a conspiracy theory when ISIS declares him their soldier on their own news-wire. Even Reuters has picked it up. https://www.facebook.com/Reuters/posts/1303760679644285
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) I agree with this, there is no way that Hahn would have told Cubs they will not deal with them to their face. The meat of this quote sounds like bitterness from the Cubs side, and not something coming from the Sox side, if you really think about it.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) I know that. The fact that it got out at all is a huge problem. We don't know exactly where it came from and what it means. It could just as easily be something where the Sox said they want Schwarber, Baez, Contreras, Jimenez and more, and the Cubs took that as they refuse to "deal" with them. Then take a conversation out of context, or not understand the context behind a quote and you end up with this. Look at the sports media in this town, what gets reported, and more importantly what doesn't. Pretty much every Chicago write is beholden to at least one of the teams in this town. Right now 90% of them belong to the Cubs. I think that is more likely than Rick Hahn actually telling someone they refuse to deal with a team, even though personally, there is zero way I would deal Chris Sale to the Cubs if I could control it.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) While I agree with this, there is absolutely no benefit to come out and say it and lose some leverage. To be fair, they didn't "come out and say it" Someone else is reporting what they heard.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) Good move if it's for our elite talent. Their success hurts the Sox an incredible amount, whether people here want to accept that or not. This.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) 4 years isn't bad, and makes the $27.5 mil AAV a lot easier to stomach He bet on himself and it worked out for him. He also got to stay exactly where he wanted to be. Good for Yo.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) My tiers of cabinet appointments (grouped rumored and official) Unacceptable due to experience, temperament or background Guiliani Bannon Flynn Sessions Arpaio/Clarke Jr. Carson - tier down from the madness above him. Just clearly unqualified. Kobach Acceptably qualified but scary re: policy DeVos Price Bolton - if sec. of state should be considered unacceptable Cotton Not acceptable under any normal circumstances but considering Trump I would be fine with: Gen. Petraeus Normal Candidates I disagree with on views but take roles seriously: Romney Haley Mattis Corker Pawlenty Hensarling Scott Brown J Brewer Even in that normal candidates list, there are more than a few that I can't figure out how they would fit into the positions they were put into.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) http://www.blogabull.com/2016/11/28/137585...istiano-felicio I missed this but pretty cool link here - The Bulls sent Felicio and Grant down to the Windy City Bulls game Saturday to get some reps during the 4 day layoff. First time they've utilized it like this. Really glad we finally have a dleague team to take advantage of getting bench players reps or try developing interesting players. That is very nice to see. Keep the end of the bench sharp when they can.

  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) Except for right now, when you're happy to float a conspiracy theory because your gut tells you so. You're more than happy to play those games as long as you don't get called on it. After reading the posts that pass for fact on here, I honestly laughed at this.

  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) Ya but at least let the guy get home or at least to the next destination. Must be a deeper story than that. This. It isn't that he was fired. It it that he was dumped like a prostitute going back to her corner.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) It would help if Trump actually took tangible steps to unite the country...and acted more like Reagan/Lincoln than someone who is creating more and more betting pools by the day on when he'll be impeached or resign. Try holding an unscripted press conference. Hasn't had one in four months. Worrying more about the daily national security briefing than your DC hotel's rental rates or new real estate development projects in Mumbai and Buenos Aires would be a start. Stop picking fights with everyone in the world on Twitter. Stop claiming you won the popular vote. Instead of thinking the Green Party wants to destroy you, imagine they're trying to actually prove that the votes that went their way aren't the reason HRC lost the election. He is a f***ing idiot. Trying to hold him to a standard is just a waste of time, because it isn't going to happen.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) So, you'd find an issue with someone floating an unsubstantiated conspiracy theory and then pointing across the aisle saying "look they do it too!" as justification for why it's ok? I have had plenty of issues with Trump and the GOP in general. In fact for the second election in a row I didn't vote for their Presidential candidate. I also didn't vote for their governor's candidate. I also have a problem with the Democrats and their lies/games as well. That is the difference between you and I. I am not falling on the partisan lines for my talking points. Irrelevant non-sequitors in an effort to trap someone into an internet win moment? Eh, sure. You keep winning the internet, but falling into line for the sake of "your party".
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) Because your party nominated a white supremacist for the white house who does nothing but peddle unsubstantiated conspiracy theories, like you're doing right now, and people are panicked by the prospect? Because when "your party" does it, no one blinks, and makes excuses to justify it.
  25. Really sad to see the stories coming out of Gatlinburg and the area with the wildfires. My family vacationed down there last year. While I wasn't a huge fan of the tourist strip, the area surrounding the town is just beautiful country. Amazing park lands, mountains and waterfalls are all over the place there.
