  1. It would totally be a White Sox type of move.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) Social media appealing to those livid with Trump's win. This is essentially how Bernie got his movement together. Sanders emergence was due to Hillary Clinton being a horrible candidate in waiting.
  3. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) By trading Sale you would be punting on 2017 and likely 2018. But there is no reason why you could not compete in 2019 with the right moves This is exactly how I see it. The odds are pretty high with a Sale trade, and what that would trigger, you are looking at least at 2019 for a winning season, if not 2020.

  9. Could? Sure in the sense that the entire group could have career years in the same year. Realistically? Nah. Trade Sale and then see guys like Robertson, Cabrera, and Frazier go as well and the odds are pretty high of this being a 60ish win team.

  12. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) I don't agree. You're adding your own personal, uncharitable interpretation to the actual events. As opposed to your charitable one.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) Occam's Razor would lead us to this... 1) Hillary loses three states unexpectedly, Russian hackers have been up and down this election, groups implore her to do a recount 2) Hillary, having conceded and respecting the transfer of power, doesn't call for the recount. 3) Jill Stein, realizing that Trump is worse for her Green Party beliefs than Hillary, uses her position to call for a recount. 4) Stein raises the money because millions of Stein/Bernie/Hillary supporters are dreading a Trump presidency and want to have faith in their election, which the victor has said is rigged multiple times. 5) With a recount underway, Clinton campaign decides that'll jump in because it's already happening so might as well help out. 6) People meme photos of Hillary shouting she's a hypocrite because that's their existing stance on her and they want confirmation bias. Knowing the Clinton history of playing behind the scenes I think it is much more likely that a surrogate put Stein up to starting the process so that Hillary's campaign could have a cover to jump on it with some plausible deniability built into the process. I find it amazing that Stein was able to get not only the money, but the publicity to raise the money after being essentially ignored the entire electoral process. How does that happen?
  14. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) If the President Elect is claiming millions of illegal votes were cast, isn't it only smart to look into things? Trump is a f***ing idiot who should have just kept his mouth shut. All he did was muddy the waters, and hit himself in the kneecaps.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) As far as Sale, he's going to the Dodgers in about 55 hours. Wednesday afternoon. That is impressively exact.
  16. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) Who said anything about your opinion of the election results? She's not challenging them publicly and her campaign's statement even reinforces the results by noting that no fraud has been detected. Yup, I remember when Donald Trump said that if a state had a recount, he'd have representatives there to check it out. She IS challenging them publicly by being involved in the recount process. Just because she is lying to the people about it, doesn't make it true.
  17. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) Jill Stein is requesting the recount in WI. That's already done. Being diligent by being part of the process isn't itself challenging results, especially when you're making it very clear you don't think there's anything wrong with them. Your accusation only even partially works if you accept a hidden Stein-Clinton conspiracy. What I think of the election results is another false equivalency. What matters here is the Clinton's involvement in undermining faith in the election results by challenging them publicly. She is doing exactly what she campaigned against, repeatedly.
  18. My gut thinks yes, but the CBA hanging over the winter meetings could really screw things up.
  19. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) Indeed, and specifically Yadier Alvarez. I think the current FanGraphs prospect guy actually thinks he's the top prospect in the system. Super young, but ace-level stuff and projection. Yusniel Diaz, Omar Estevez, Ronnie Brito, Keibert Ruiz, and Johan Mieses all fall in this group as well.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 09:57 AM) It doesn't matter what Trump said or did in comparing his actions and words to Clinton? You are making a false equivalency between 2 things. I am differentiating between 2 things. The danger to Democracy is making people think elections are meaningless and can't be trusted because they're rigged/stolen/bogus. The campaign statement specifically says they have no reason to suspect fraud nor do they expect the results to change. So how does that create mistrust? Wouldn't we expect any campaign to send representatives to Wisconsin for this? Does anyone believe Donald Trump doesn't have people in Wisconsin checking this out? So they are saying that out loud, but they doing the opposite by introducing doubt into those results by challenging results in 3 states. If you trust results, you don't introduce doubt and conspiracy by challenging them. Those two words and actions do not match up. It is typical Clinton hypocrisy.
  21. \] QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) This is beyond spin; it's lying. She isn't doing anything near Trump did, much less "exactly". She isn't claiming the system is rigged. She isn't rejecting the results. She isn't saying he cheated. Her campaign is saying the OPPOSITE. It doesn't matter what Trump said or did. Quit falling for party propaganda and equating the two things as some sort of false equivalency. Clinton isn't saying anything, but it DOING the opposite. She is doing exactly what she said would be a danger to Democracy. She is challenging the results of the election. That is clearly rejecting the results.
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) So Florida fired their coach Gerald Gallant on the road before they can return home and left him there. Guy had to call a cab and a Hurricanes employee had to help him with his bags.. that is just awful. https://mobile.twitter.com/GMillerTSN/statu...235256686047232 Holy crap. I wonder what the story is there?
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) That's the one thing about the dodgers trades that worries me. I believe we'd get some great bats back, but worry we'd mostly end up with a 1b and a DH. It is worth mentioning that they have both great pitching, and they have some interesting really young guys out of Latin America and Cuba that would be guys who could be in the tail end of a deal.
  24. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 08:08 AM) You've completely ignored all the differences and misrepresented what happened. - Trump said (and currently is saying) there is massive, widespread fraud. Clinton says there is no evidence of fraud. - Trump said there was no way he could lose without Hillary cheating, so he wouldn't say he would accept the results. Clinton conceded, and didn't even push for the WI recount. - Trump's claims were accompanied by tinges of racism. Clinton isn't even making any claims. So after Jill Stein spent months bashing Hillary Clinton, she's now a secret Clinton crony doing her bidding? Okay. None of which really matter. Clinton left zero space for anything other than accepting the election results, or you are a danger to Democracy. Yet here she is being a part of a challenge to those results. Of course she is playing the game and attempting to paint in shades of grey in typical Clinton fashion, but being a part of the challenge for a recount even she didn't "push" for them, is still challenging the election results. If Clinton hadn't have made speech after speech condemning Trump for exactly what she is doing now, it would be different. There was no asterisks in her statements. There were no qualifiers that have a zone where this would be OK. If she had won, and Trump was the one challenging the results, you know she would still be up on the high horse about challenging electoral results. But because it is Clinton and not Trump doing it, those concerns are now legitimate in the eyes of the Clintons and their followers. Hillary Clinton dug this hole. No one else.
  25. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Nov 27, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) Then lock or move the thread already. The rumor was pulled out of some random poster's ass anyway. Doesn't merit a serious response. Yet here you are. You got the warning. Another post and you will be the one suspended.`
