  1. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 02:06 PM) There was a 67 page thread about it. Kong to Angels, etc. If it had just said there were discussions with SD that would be one thing. But particulars were discussed as if an actual 3 way trade was being considered, which of course, no other outlet had heard or discussed. No need to be defensive, just sayin. Hey, I am going to stand up for the guys who make this place happen. I hope you can handle that.
  2. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) Same guys who "broke" the adrian gonzalez trade right? I remain skeptical. The same guys who own and run this place too.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) And Pods in CF is a good idea how? He'd see more balls hit to him there anyway. Way better than in RF. Seriously, I have a better arm out of RF, and you have seen how I can throw!
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) I would have prefered Pods or Wise in RF when Dye had the day off and kept Rios in CF. Pods in RF? Um. Ew.

  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) Should have been 41 and 0. So are you saying Dye should have never been out of RF? Who should have backed it up? The choices were Rios in RF with Pods or Wise in CF, or Wise in RF.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) I will say this, from a depth stand-point, the club would be better suited giving up positional prospects since they have so little depth when it comes to starting pitching prospects. Viciedo, Danks, Flowers, Mitchell are four guys to get excited for, imo. I can't see them dealing Viciedo yet, with the money they sunk into him. The rest of them, who knows.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) IMO, we'll be saying goodbye to at least one of our top prospects before this winter is over. It wouldn't be a Kenny Williams off-season without it!
  9. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) this could be the end of the offseason for kw and if it is id like to see 1. Pierre LF 2. Becks 2b 25HR 3. Rios CF 25HR 4. CQ RF/DH 30HR 5. Kong 1B 30HR 6. AJP C 10HR 7. Jones RF/DH 25HR 8. Teahan 3B 20HR 9. Ramirez SS 20HR get 15 homers from the bench and you got your 200 homers to go along with a pretty good staff If Beckham hits 25 homers next year he is either juicing or hitting .250.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) And I'd jump at that. Less money for Thome than Pierre or Teahan? Where do I sign?
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) I'm told the Sox are working hard on adding another bat. That doesn't surprise me at all with the number of big names the Sox have been connected to already this off-season. I do still expect us to wait out the waves of signings and pick a pitcher or two off of the scrap heap in the bargain bin at the end of the off season.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) see Matt Holiday You mean a guy who went from the best hitters park on the planet, to one of the worst, and then to a decent hitters park?
  13. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) Ely and Link http://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/6702106304 Awesome. That is 100% fine by me.
  14. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) A leadoff hitter who coincidentally enough, doesn't walk or get on base. This offseason has been very disappointing, IMO considering this move, and the year year deal to Teahen. Why wasn't the money ponied up for Figgins? Better player by FAR. It would have taken the money we gave to Pierre, Teahen, and Putz, plus more. In other words, we didn't have the money to fill all holes if we got Chone.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) I just don't see that much different in the 2 and you're getting rid of a fan favorite, meaning casual fans. The kind of fans that go to games to see Pods need rides from their parents anyway. Of all of the things to worry about, this is way down the list.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) Pretty predictable. I'm certainly not thrilled with this move. But you know what they say: Beggars can't be choosers. The 'ideal' leadoff guy out there for us to somehow acquire simply doesn't exist. If Pierre can sport a .350/.360 OBP, and he BETTER be in LF, I can't complain too much at 8 million over two years. Let's just pray to god Jared Mitchell pans out and is ready for The Show come 2012. It pretty much has to be Pierre LF, Rios CF, and TCQ RF. Someone just wrote something about Oz wanting to get Q into RF, and this would do it.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) I'll be pretty ticked if one of the guys is Santos. It would depend on when the date for the Dodgers to pick by is. If it is past opening day, I don't think Santos is on that list, because he is out of options. If it is earlier, he might be.
  18. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:06 AM) God this move sucks. I'd rather have Pods back, and that is awful to say. Pods was asking for $7.5 million for two years. Not gonna happen.
  19. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:06 AM) If the Dodgers have already picked them, then why are they considered PTBNL? I can't remember the rule on that. Essentially the Sox are giving them time to scout amongst a set number of players to pick two out of. I believe they can't be on the 40 man roster, but I could be wrong on that. I know someone will have better info.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) I would have to believe Torres is in the deal. As long as Hudson isn't dealt, it wouldn't bother me.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) To be honest, I couldn't care less if it's a lefty or not, I just want someone that can hit the ball in the middle of the order. Vlad still makes a ton of sense to me. There are still options out there. Really Thome, Vlad, and JD are great options right off of the top of my head. You can get more into some other OFs and position players if you do want to make it a rotation position for giving guys a day off here and there.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:57 AM) Just please get us a real dh, kenny. PLEASE Yeah, so really the shopping list left is a power bat, and maybe another reliever.
  23. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:45 AM) I'm gonna say it was Kyle McCulloch and Gregory Infante. I will in heaven if those are the type of guys we gave up. The thing that scares me is that we got a bunch of cash.
  24. Chuck Garfein tweeting that the Sox will pay Pierre $3 million in 10, $5 million in 11.
  25. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) He is either Cowley's biggest fan or he is related to him.... And I don't even mind the na, na, na post, but three of the first 20 posts in the thread don't need to say the same thing.
