  1. Great arm, hopefully they can help him find the strike zone.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 10:34 AM) That seems to be the exact opposite of what I was saying. We aren't going to spend what he is worth on the open market.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) I think 3 is my max. 2 is a good number but I would like to have a boy, so if the first two pop up as girls I've told my wife we are going for a 3rd. After that, I'm getting snipped. The fiance would like three though. I really think you are biased to agree with what you grew up with. I like two because I'm one of two and she likes three because she is one of three. I just want em healthy and to have one boy that I can pass all my sports knowledge too. She knows if we get three girls, at least one is going to turn into a total tomboy. So what are going to going to do with the rest of his childhood?
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) The Feds goal also explicitly includes maintaining employment. It should not. Fiscal policy should not be decided by the Federal Reserve Bank. That is pretty clearly supposed to be a constitutional function of Congress.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) So you're actually arguing that monetary policy has little impact on job creation? I'm not sure I really even feel the need to argue this, especially with the current trade deficit and liquidity trap conditions. No. I am arguing it shouldn't be the Fed's primary goal. They manage the banking sector. Their primary focus is to maintain the integrity of the banking system and the money supply. Their job is not fiscal policy. The very idea that it is comes from the complete failure of Congress and the President in those areas.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) Hyperbole at its absolute finest. But you are, of course, entitled to your opinion. I don't think anybody is saying you're wrong for feeling the way you do. But this is a public message board. When you post something as bold and brash as you originally did, you're putting yourself out there, for better or worse. What did you expect? Everybody was gonna be like "HAHAHAHA! YOU'RE RIGHT STEVE, YO! I'M GLAD THAT SUCKA'S DEAD! MAY HIS PUNK, THUGGISH ASS ROT IN HELL FOR ETERNITY!" Maybe that's what you were expecting? So since that's not what you got we're all "jagbags"? Next time, keep your thoughts on sensitive subjects to yourself if you're not able to handle any potential criticism that might stem from them. Perfect. If you are going to put yourself out there slamming someone in death, shouldn't you be able to handle getting slammed yourself? Because you have essentially set the bar at zero respect for people.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 08:54 AM) Just because a guy is worth some dollar amount doesn't mean there are going to be teams willing to spend it. Which is exactly why we have no chance at a guy like this.
  8. Got to watch both of them during the SNL Christmas special and I laughed way more because of the acting in the NPR skit. They did such a good job at the monotone voices and mostly stone-faced personalities. Alec Baldwin made the skit.
  9. I think Schwety Balls made a better SNL skit than Dick in a Box.
  10. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 04:19 AM) Absolutley...not only that, you need a little depth in the farm system to be able to supplement your roster during the year when injuries, slumps etc happen. This isn't fanatasy league, people. What makes more sense, to me, is to involve a third team and explore dealing Mark Buehrle. This way, whoever gets Mark surrenders the prospects to SD, we free up $14 million in salary, and we get something for a great pitcher, but one whose skills may be in decline. So this isn't fantasy land? You could have fooled me when you started talking about trading the face of the franchise after a down season.
  11. Blalock can still actually play defense. He is going to be out of our price range for sure.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) Considering that they've decided to ignore 1/2 of their job and focus solely on inflation while ignoring unemployment, they must have some spare time. Considering one is a function of money supply and the other isn't, I'd still consider them doing their "job". Unemployment and job creation are results of fiscal policy, which are not supposed to be charges of the banking system.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) Yup. Thank Goodness Alan Greenspan recognized how tenuous the surpluses were in 2001 and therefore advocated a program of sound fiscal policy. So you are advocating that the Fed do the Congress's job? Interesting.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) And you know how in middle school you elected the cool kid to run student government, and 3 weeks later the school was bankrupt, closed, and on fire? That was a great year.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) Yankees looking at Nick Johnson lol @ Damon wanting a multi-year deal at $13mil per, or he might pout.
  16. Well thank god we are playing the Knicks...
  17. 25-8 Knicks... OK this would be a great day to fire VDN.
  18. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) yea, although i would have liked him on the team, it is too much for him. i rather have matsui at a mil more. and i rather have the sox get more of a power bat No doubt about that. You will get much more out of Matsui for only a mil more.
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) I don't think you have to be kidding. The 300 level is great for the anthem. 200 and 100, not so much. Just look around, easy to tell the difference. A lot of people look surprised as the anthem starts and people start clapping around them. So what you are saying is Toews scored due to the "electric football" characteristics of a hockey game. Defenders generally don't stand still/play random defense. They tried to stop the puck carrier best they could, but they couldn't. Kinda like they did with Hossa, yet that was random luck. Yeah, that totally makes it different.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 06:32 PM) Two more NRI's: Greg Aquino, RHP http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/aquingr01.shtml Erick Threets, LHP http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/threeer01.shtml Threets had a decent AAA season in Albuquerque. Man Aquino put up some crazy bad WHIPs.
  21. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 06:24 PM) nick johnson just has to pass his physical and he'll be signed by the yanks for 1 yr,5.5mil. oh well $5.5 million is a ton for a guy who can't stay healthy.
  22. QUOTE (Ranger @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) No. Players aren't afraid to come here because of those two. In fact, you ever notice the only players that have anything bad to say about either of those two are players that weren't very good when they were here? If you believe players don't want to play here because of Ozzie and KW, you also have to believe they don't want to play in a city where you can get booed on opening day for going 0 for 4. And you're going to complain about benching players when they don't perform? That doesn't make any sense to me at all. Um, isn't sticking with underperfomring players something that most fans b**** about? Cabrera was totally different because the guy had some mysterious degenerative knee condition and was going to Austria to have it looked at, and he wouldn't let the Sox examine him for themsleves. Screw that, I wouldn't have wanted to pay him either. That's a lot of money to throw around. The real answer is more along the lines of the following: I think you mean Magglio Ordonez, right?
  23. My guess is that it is more boring junk.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) Wanted to post this yesterday but was on a plane. I agree with this. lol. The fed bank is now responsible for fiscal policy as well? Eh, might as well be for as well as Congress and the President handle it.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) Yeah that really is embarassing. I don't get it either. DePaul, while still a Big East whipping boy, should be better this year and American, who occasionally has a decent team, is not gonna even contend for the Patriot League this year. DP had played some really good games this year against solid opponents. I don't know WTF that was!
