Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 11:37 AM) I don't think the defensive line is anywhere near as bad as the offensive line though. This is probably the worst it's ever been since I've been a Bears fan. The Bears have always traditionally been built from the lines out. The defensive line is having injury issues, but the offensive line is exactly that... offensive.

Jaramillo available
QUOTE (balfanman @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 10:27 AM) We only know a little about Mr. Jaramillos' style, but just guessing, If you had to choose a couple of players who do you think the he is most likely to help on that club? My guess, and again this is just a guess, nothing to back it up, I would choose Soriano (he has worked with him previously) and maybe Soto. Milton Bradley...

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 11:33 AM) Has the Bears' line ever been this bad? I can't recall it being worse than this during this decade or even for the s*** teams in the 90s. The lines have been at least decent for as long as I can remember. This is just terrible.

Jaramillo available
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) You gotta say this about Hendry and the Cubs, they stick to their philosophy. "Problem? Throw money at it!" That only works if you have the Yankees budget.

2009 Baseball America Draft Report Cards
I think the key for Mitchell will be to keep it conservative, and make sure he doesn't try to move up too quickly. Being a two sport guy, they need to resist the urge to push him too hard. Get the kid his ABs and give him the best chance to succeed at each level.

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) I doubt they'll be a lottery team, though honestly the potential for this team is anywhere from 30-50 wins, so who knows? Thing is, I don't know if the Suns would want to skip on a resurgent Deng (in this scenario at least) and the possibility of keeping an athletic and defensive Power Forward. The Bulls could weather losing them, since they'd have Gibson to replace Tyrus (and backup Stoudemire), while they could have Kirk get some starts at SG and Johnson at SF (and have Salmons start at one or the other each night). Plus, if Wade comes aboard, Salmons would be your SF. That's the thing. If they miss the playoffs, they are in the lottery.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) Which is why, despite a good showing against the league's worst offense, I'm still leaning towards "not". I need to see good things from him consistently and against better competition to become a believer. We know he is much better than he has shown this year. If it takes a game against Nashville to get him back to at least decent, so be it.

I am glad it was the day for the kids to trick or treat out at the in-laws instead of watching the trainwreck of a Bears game. Wow.

Really I am totally bored with the playoffs, and that was after the first round. I hardly watched any of the second round.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) This is garbage. ABC originally said the final season would run week after week, uninterupted...NOW.... According to LOST Executive Producer Carlton Cuse, ABC will air the first few episodes of Season 6 in January and then return to the schedule after the Winter Olympics in early March. Seriously? A month off for the WInter Olympics which suck? WTF? They pulled the same s*** last year.

White Sox show interest in Aroldis Chapman...
I bet he ends up closer to $60 mil, than $15.

Quite odd for him to miss that much though.

Getz vs. Nix
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) Until Nix can hit right handed pitchers with more consistency, He is a utility player. Currently Nix is a right handed pull hitter who has success against lefties but gets exposed against righties. In reality he isn't even a utility player, because the only spot he plays any defense at is second base. He is horrible at SS and 3B.

White Sox show interest in Aroldis Chapman...
QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 07:07 PM) I was just checking some of the Yankees contracts in response to your post. They'll be paying 4 players a total of $96 million next season (ARod-$32m, CC-$23m, Jeter-$21m, and Teix-$20m). Unreal. So they will have four players making the entire expected payroll of the Chicago White Sox, who are a top 10 MLB payroll. Wow.

Tonight is as good as Huet has looked all year long. That sequence where he made saves on back to back tough deflections was really impressive.

Something to consider on the potential trade front.
QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 03:52 AM) Some thoughts: - Coco Crisp (leads off & plays switch) - 2 year deal, option for 3rd - Akinori Iwamura (lefty bad in bottom order, plays second exceptionally) -2 or 3 year deal with option - TBD (Left handed bat that drives in runs) LF Crisp - S 3B Beckham - R RF Quentin - R DH Left Handed power bat - L 1B Konerko - R C Pierzynksi - L CF Rios - R 2B Iwamura - L SS Ramirez - R As much as I like Iwamura, we are not signing another 2B.
