QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) And you still have 31,800 posts? Yeah, evidently it is amateur comedy hour now j/k. This is a good thread guys. With everyone one in a reasonable mood, if you have something you want to get off of your chest about the site, now looks to be the time to do it.

A-Rod hits #400
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) A bit of topic here, but does anyone else feel A-Rod lost a bit of his luster when he went to the Yanks? He lost it when he got the $252 million contract

Interview with Lance Broadway
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Lance says that we need to consult both the World Bank and the IMF to make sure that the much needed econmic aid reaches the Philippines. I just typed up the interview and once FutureSox gets back up within the next 24 hours, the interview will be the big story. C'mon, give us the exclusive first

SALARY CAP AGREED ON FOR NHL!
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) I would have no problem with that. It's a bit more open in OT because you can't lose your point, however...so OT has been better. But it's the third period where no one does anything if it's tied. Hence the giving an extra point to winning in regulation. It motivates teams not to play for OT for the last 5 minutes of regulation.

Here is the deal the way I see it. When Soxtalk started, it was all people who basically knew and liked each other. The early growth of the site was all word of mouth growth to other people that the original people knew. Heck I got on here because of Mario talking about Soxnet, and never looked back. The problem has become the growth has been extended into strangers who have no attachment to each other, and there for have no feeling that they have to respect each other. It is easy to respect the people you already know and like, but when you don't know someone and they rub you the wrong way, it is easier to snap on them. And as we have grown the problem has only gotten more and more pronounced, to the point where not many people know each other, and the level of respect for each other has evaporated. But don't worry. We as mods and admins have noticed the problem and have been all over it. We have been talking tons and have been trying to take actions ASAP to fix problems as they are happening, instead of waiting for things to get bad. Some of you have noticed the symptoms of this. There have been more threads closed, moved, and deleted than there every used to be. We have also been trying to send warnings to people to try to deflate situations quicker, and we have also had to suspend people. We are serious about keeping this the premier place to post about the White Sox, but most of that lies in you all's keyboards. Do us a favor and think for a sec before you post. You might think something is stupid, but it really doesn't help much to have 6 posts declaring how stupid it is. It just mucks things up, and makes things look more chaotic. Just passover the bad posts, and posts in the quality threads and discussions. If someone wants to say something stupid, ignore it. If you feel the need to respond, stick to substantive responses. We have a few posters who are masters at this, and lately their posts have really stood out to me. Also there is never a need to call somebody a name, simply for making what you might view as a bad post. And finally if someone is out of line, report the post to us. PM one of us with a link, and we will take care of it. Also remember though just because you don't see a big announcement of suspensions or warnings, doesn't mean it wasn't done. We try to keep things private as much as possible, to give the posters a level of respect and ananimity. And finally keep up the good work guys. Despite the appearence of a decline, this is still the best Sox site on the net. There is such a collection of incredible knowledge and passion here, that it is unmatched anywhere. You guys are the ones who make this site, if you feel things aren't good, take it back from the problems. Thanks guys Mike

Jackson Verdict: What will it be?

#1 you weren't punished. The thread was closed because it was becoming a problem. #2 This isn't the place for discussion about this, either the off topic board, or PMs/emails are.

El Duque argument
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) This is exactly why he wont be in the bullpen, I wouldnt be surprised if they moved him up in the rotation as well. He is flat out the best post season pitcher we have. In a playoff setting, the guy who could benefit us the most out of the pen is Contreras. #1 he has done it, and succeeded before, and #2 he can let it all out, and not hold anything back.

Lohan Has Digital Breast Reduction
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) You and I are in the minority on this one. Most guys I know have been brainwashed into thinking 90 lbs. is hot. It was bad enough that women bought into it, now even guys believe it. Remember when the word 'skinny' used to be derogatory?.... now guys look for the skinny chicks. Well the rest of the world can have em.

Lohan Has Digital Breast Reduction
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Men, that's who. Even the chicks that most guys think aren't too skinny ARE too skinny. Have you seen the sizes that women's clothes come in nowadays? It's like baby clothes. Its gross and not natural.

El Duque argument
QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) maybe... but the way things are going... maybe he will be huge in middle relief edit: not saying he's awful, but he's starter #5 of 5 stuff-wise He is also a playoff pitcher. Honestly when it comes to a big game situation, we have no more proven pitcher than Hernandez... He is money when it counts.

KW wants Everett—for now
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) Here's an Everett Trade Scenario that I thought up (a lot of people don't want to deal him to the Angels, because of the fact he'd help them make the playoffs). Send him to Tampa Bay for Jonny Gomes (25 in October)(.340/.470/.715) and a good prospect. TB just released their DH Josh Phelps, and could easily use Carl in that spot. And Lou Pinella would probably like his fiery attitude as well. Gomes could become the 1st OF off the bench, negating the need for Timo. He would be the backup DH also, and could come into play for the DH role next season, depending on what happens with Frank Thomas. No way Carl would do anything there. It is obvious to me that he needs to be motivated to play, and the last time he went to a s***ty team, he quit on them. I doubt Lou would take that chance.

ESPN Page 2 article has Sox stuff in it

Where are the Jermaine Dye haters now?
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) I may be a Dye hater but I have to give credit where credit is due. He's turned it around big time. You may have an unnatural obsession with s***, but I will say one thing for you, you are the first to stand up and admit when you are wrong... and that doesn't happen often here.

Jackson Verdict: What will it be?
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) They are only in for 2 and a half hours today so I doubt there will be a verdict. So unless they have really made progress with the reviews I doubt there will be one this week. Evidently a bunch of the jurors have graduations to attend.

Mexican Volcano erupting
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) You can stay in the guest bedroom if you want to reason with hurricane season this year. It might sound strange, but I loved it. It was one of the coolest things I have ever been a part of. The power of mother nature is just incredible.

SALARY CAP AGREED ON FOR NHL!
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Very excited about this news...if we can get a full season in next year, that would be spectacular. If there are significant changes for next season, which i think there will be, i would bet there is a shootout at the end of overtime, and goalie's pads will be smaller - perhaps 10 inch leg pads instead of 12, etc. I'm a hockey 'purist', but the shootout needs to happen to get fans back into the game. It will only be in the regular season anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. There will be some sweet breakaway moves unveiled, and it will be very entertaining. NHL has a long way to go, but you have to start somewhere. I have said for a while, if I could change one thing about hockey it would be the way that wins losses and ties are tallied for points. Right now there isn't much incentive to play aggressively in OT. If you went to a soccer style scoring system where wins were 3 pts, OT wins were 3 points, and OT losses were 1 point, along with ties being 1 points, you would see much more aggressive play in tie games for the last of the game and into OT. It wouldn't be this skating for one point crap. There would be incentive to win, and you wouldn't lose anything if you lost or tied.

Mexican Volcano erupting
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) I did too and when I got there I was actually kinda scared. The one we went to is in South America and it's pretty active and unpredictable. It had this faint, constant rumble coming for deep inside of it that made the ground tremble underneath us. Pretty awesome from afar, scary when you're standing on it. Sounds awe-inspiring. I have always wanted to go to Hawaii just to see the active volcano's. The closest I have come to mother nature was riding out a hurricane in Texas in 1983, and that is what got me on the whole natural disasters thing.
