Game thread???
I don't know if anyone is around to do PBP, but I see on gamecast that Garcia homered in the first with Omar on to give the Indians a 2-0 lead right off of the bat.

how good a SS is jose valentin???
They have had half price nites basically since the strike. I used to always go get the UD reserved seats when they were $8 for half price. My wife and I could go to a game and park for $18.

Olivo
Catcher Miguel Olivo had a career-high three hits in Saturday's victory, going 3-for-4 with a double. The 24-year-old rookie, who had Sunday off, is 5-for-12 over the last three games after ending an 0-for-12 slump. "It was good to see him with the three hits," Manuel said. "Hopefully that's a sign of good things to come. He could be a real good force in that part of the order." Olivo, batting .214 with one homer and two RBI, has been the Sox's No. 9 hitter. While Manuel expects him to improve as a hitter, he is pleased with how Olivo has handled himself behind the plate. He has one passed ball, and not a single runner has attempted to steal on him. "When you have a young catcher, the thing you look for is that behind the plate he goes unnoticed," Manuel said. "If he goes unnoticed, he's doing a good job. If you begin to drop balls, passed balls, then it becomes the focal point. "He had a passed ball the other day, but for the most part we haven't really noticed a lot of activity back there."

Sammy Sosa's hit in the head
The benefits of a hard head God bless him. Insert Carlos Lee joke here---->
-
4 in 4
Regardless, you'd rather have him hitting them than not hitting them. He doesn't control what the score is every time he steps up to the plate...geez give him a break. I knew someone was going call two of Carlos's HR's meaningless. My retort to that is if they were so meaningless, how come the other 8 guys in the line up didn't hit HR's in those games too?

Sammy Sosa's hit in the head
The most amazing thing of all of this is that it sounds like Sammy is going to play in tommorrows game.

Glover
If we had a Matt Ginter up here to be a long man, I could see Gary Glover filling in the 7th inning RH reliever role that we have had problems with thus far this year.

Illini job
Until the Illini can keep a coach both for a long period of time, and at the same time turns out assistants who become head coaches, there will always be a revolving door for successful Illini coaches. Looking at Self's pedigree being a Kansas assistant always kinda pointed him towards returning there. It is the same kind of thing at NC, with guys like Doughrety and Williams. If coach K every leaves Duke, you can bet one of his old assistants will step in there too. How many ex-illini assistants are there in bigger profile jobs?

Buehrle Stewart
Was this weekend the first time this year that Stewart and Buehrle had pitched back to back?

Harris and Jimenez - wow
When you look at everything DA has done this year for the Sox, it really makes the Miles arguement pretty weak. Does anyone now really think that he would have hit nearly .400, seen 5 to 6 pitches per AB, played great defense, and drove in keys runs like Jimenez has? But once again the key is how will he handle adversity.

how good a SS is jose valentin???
I think Omar Vizquel would be a more realistic choice for Sox SS in 2004, assuming that we don't keep Jose and that Jiminez is not the heir apparent. A guy like Omar on our team could be invaluable. He can bunt, he hits in the clutch, he gives himself up for the team, he plays incredible defense, he is a fan favorite, and he is a great clubhouse guy.

how good a SS is jose valentin???
200,000/3,000,000=$15 a fan??? That is pretty low IMO considering the cheapest ticket we have in the building is $14. So those extra 200,000 people are all going to show up to the park in public transportation, buy the cheapest seat and not buy any concessions or suveneirs? I think an estimate of $30 to $40 of revenue per fan is much more realistic. When you factor in $15 to park, at least $20 for a lower deck seat, $4.75 a beer, $4 a program etc, $15 a fan is WAY too low.

Koch
And probably would come cheap right now too!

Is true?
Yes it did happen, I was at the game, sitting next to our bullpen in which no one was throwing. And to top it off it was a key divisional game against the Indians

Well i Finally did it
that's why I never really gave WSI much of a chance when I was looking for somewhere else to post.

Well i Finally did it
be careful though, you might offend voodoo, lol. I actually met him at Soxfest this year, and that was part of the reason that I started checking out this board, instead of WSI. (although he probably doesn't even realize it) The other part being I respected Mario as a poster on the ESPN board, and he let me write a couple of articles for Soxnet before it went and got all big and famous Why do you say this? His exact words to me when I was introduced to him were "what is your ID on WSI?" I told him that I didn't have one and that I had been posting on ESPN. He said "then I don't have time for you"
