  1. No idea what is going on there, but if you look at the OF position by position, with 500 innings minimum, 2 of 19 LF are above 0, 5 of 21 RF are above 0, and 13 of 18 CF are above 0. Totalled up that makes 20 of 58 OFs with above 500 innings who are a positive defensive OF according to fangraphs.
  2. Here's the thing. If you take the MLB LF's with at least 500 innings, and line them all up defensively according to Fangraphs defensive ratings, Andrew Vaughn is actually 6th out of the 19 qualifiers. Only the top 2! have a positive defensive rating LF. By definition that would make him above "average" he is even now above the middle of the pack level of defense.
  3. Honestly, it shocks me that they took Nick instead of Crochet if the story about them offering either to the Cubs is true. I also still have a hard time believing this was the Cubs best offer.
  4. As is any statistic by itself. Now, if it is indeed 7 of 20, I wouldn't have guessed 35% of the time the team that wins the world series manages to win 3 series against teams with records of over .500, after having a losing record for the season against teams over .500. To me that is still pretty significant and interesting.
  5. All good reminders of why I could have never survived in medicine.
  6. He needs to learn to shut his mouth and stay off of social media. Hopefully the Sox are helping him leave, but he sure isn't making it easy.
  7. He played a lot more early on. His performance slowly moved him out of the job. He played 16 games from Jul 5-30. During that time he hit .133/.350/.267/.617. As time went out Zavala took over the job.
  8. I would love to see a team like the Cubs overpay for Rodon. There is a really large chance they get a pitcher who goes about a third of the time over the life of his deal. Rodon strikes me as one of those deals where it will be a bad deal as soon as he signs it if it is as large/long as people seem to think it will be.
  9. That is somewhere around half a billion dollars in signings, which doesn't sound like this ownership group at all.
  10. A healthy Evan Marshall is better than the bottom of our bullpen. I would run him out there over Foster/Ruiz/Wright for sure.
  11. The Sox spent the last 5 years aligning their minor leagues to getting star players to the majors by last year. That's what's wrong with the system. In the last year they have shifted back to younger players to build back for down the road. This has been by design.
