  1. If Lopez is on the team, I hope Ozzie uses him strictly as a LOOGY. He is getting righties out in ST but they have murdered him in his career. Mike Myers is the same way -- he dominates lefties but righties own him. The deceptiveness of a lefty submariner/sidearmer obviously only works against lefties. According to KW, the Sox are going with 11 pitchers. So with Lopez apparently aboard, it looks like the last two roster spots are between Borchard, Gload, and Ozuna. Or if you think that Ozuna has already made the team, there is one open spot for Borchard or Gload to fight for.
  2. There's a reason that Lopez is getting more innings than the other candidates. They are more interested in seeing what he can do than the others. Kenny originally wanted Mike Myers as our second lefty but he ended up signing with the Yankees so KW goes out and finds another sidearmer. Makes sense I guess.
  3. I was for a Griffey trade last season when our offense was pathetic with Everett struggling horribly. I didn't care who we would have had to trade for Griffey. I wanted them to win the World Series. Luckily, they won it without making a move other than Geoff Blum. But I still would have only wanted Griffey last season if he was our DH to replace Everett, not replacing Rowand in CF. Things are different now. Thome is our DH and Griffey's contract and injury problems don't make sense for us in CF.
  4. I just figured that he would be playing or at least subbing at some point in the game because he's supposed to be fighting for a roster spot.
  5. I'd take Mercker but not Griffey. Too damn old, injury-prone, and expensive.
  6. According to that article, Ozuna is on the roster. Hmmm...
  7. Yep, just by the completely erratic nature of most relievers from year to year, most bullpens are a big question mark to start the season.

  9. That makes some sense. Mackowiak has even said himself that he is most comfortable in RF and then CF next. I do think that Javier Lopez is going to make the roster. But maybe KW is going to swing a trade for another righty reliever and Borchard isn't going to make the roster afterall? Hell, maybe Borchard will even be in the trade?
  10. Gotta love that .687 OPS! That's Neifi Perez territory!
  11. Yeah, I guess he must have cleared waivers then. I'm surprised that no team claimed him as a LOOGY at the very least.
  12. Alex Gonzalez is possibly the best defensive shortstop in the game? Wow.
  13. I'm not saying that Ozuna should or shouldn't be on the roster. But he possesses two abilities that Ozzie seems to love -- speed and bunting. I'm pretty sure Ozzie will want to keep him on the roster over Gload.
  14. $1 million is about what backups are getting these days. I think $1.6 million is a good deal for a guy who could be a viable starting SS option on some teams.
  15. I hate to break it to you but $1.6 million isn't really a lot of money for solid backups these days. Besides, it's not OUR money.
  16. I was laughing because it's a funny thread title. I agree with every word you posted.
  17. LOL, who knows? Anderson just got robbed on a diving catch and greasy face gets doubled up.
  18. Holy s***, that's the hardest I think Ozuna has ever hit a ball!
