  1. And for some reason, Crede is the god of the #9 spot. Small sample size but... Joe Crede (career stats batting 9th) 177 AB .305 AVG .374 OBP .571 SLG .944 OPS 13 HR 34 RBI

  4. Yep, this thread has gone from "Pale Hose Talk" material to "Sex, Lies, and Music" material.
  5. Poor SSI71, his funny thread has been hijacked by the ethics police.
  6. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws Jeez, I can see why the Yankees and Red Sox were fighting over him.
  7. More on Torborg... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dale_Torborg He was also involved in that whole Pierzynski/TNA wrestling thing. The dude is huge (6'7"). Here he is in a Sox jersey body-slamming some dude...
  8. THE DEMON!!! Dale Torborg is the son of ex-manager Jeff Torborg. He was also a wrestler known as the Demon in the now defunct WCW. He was supposed to be a KISS wrestler or something. He is currently the Sox strength and conditioning coach.
  9. The Royals could claim Borchard and keep him on the bench. Then when the Royals are out of contention for third place by the deadline, they could trade Emil Brown to a contender that needs an extra outfielder. Emil Brown is a 31 year old journeyman who had a career year last season and he's only under contract for 2006. The Royals aren't going to contend for anything other than fourth place so they may as well start a guy like Borchard in RF and see what he can do.

  11. But they're the Royals. It's not like they have an entire 40-man roster of good players. They could afford to dump one of their scrubs for a somewhat young outfielder with power potential. That's what the Royals were looking for in the offseason. Sure, the Marlins would probably jump on Borchard if they could but I doubt they would ever get the chance.
  12. Yep. And according to Dayn, Konerko was overpaid but Furcal's contract was a steal.
  13. My favorite Rob Neyer memory was how he wrote an article about Dye being one of the best bargain free agents available last offseason. A month or so later he wrote a preview of the Sox and all their new additions and didn't even know that the Sox had signed Dye.
  14. Someone ask him if Podsednik is overrated. I'm sure he would love that one.
  15. If we let Borchard go, I'm sure the Royals will jump on him. They would get the first chance in waiver priority.
  16. Makes sense. KW originally wanted Mike Myers when the Marte/Mackowiak trade was going down but he chose the Yankees so KW gets a similar submarine-style pitcher in Lopez off the scrap heap. Mike Myers actually helped Lopez with his mechanics when they were with the Diamondbacks.
  17. Maybe Borchard should be a comedian.
