  1. Crisp's offense would be great from CF but he has to prove he can play good defense as a full-time center fielder. I don't know much about Crisp's defense in CF but I seem to remember that he has a weak arm. And judging by his FPCT, RF, and ZR, he looks like a pretty big defensive downgrade in CF from Damon.
  2. I understand starting Kenny Lofton over Michaels. Lofton was raking the ball even more than Michaels. But look at some decisions that managers make. Dusty Baker continued to start Todd Hollandsworth over Matt Murton. Ozzie used Timo Perez as a leadoff hitter. Managers don't always make the best decisions. What can I say? But look at Michaels' career splits and 2005 splits. He hits both lefties and righties well for a center fielder. What is Michaels' major weakness that makes him strictly a fourth outfielder in your opinion then? You brought up Todd Hollandsworth as a reason why Michaels is a fourth outfielder at best but Brady Clark of the Brewers is a good example of why Michaels could be the real deal as a full-time starter.
  3. He's got to be better than Tim Redding, right?
  4. Byrd played 92 games in CF for the Phillies in 2004 and hit .228 / .287 / .321 / .608 in 346 AB's. Meanwhile, Michaels played 44 games in CF for the Phillies in 2004 and hit .274 / .364 / .415 / .779 in 299 AB's. I'd say mentioning Byrd is a poor argument. There's a reason Larry Bowa was fired.
  5. This guy deserves a beating just because of this picture.
  6. Wait for it... wait for it...

  8. These trade rumors are getting out of hand... http://www.journal-news.com/sports/content...125redsweb.html That trade would have been highway robbery for the Red Sox.
  9. Doh, you're right. I'm all screwed up. Sorry. The Indians didn't want to deal Rhodes for Michaels unless they got another reliever like Mota to replace Rhodes in their bullpen. Plus, if the Indians don't deal Crisp they will have no use for another outfielder like Michaels.
  10. It was going to be some combination of Marte and Mota for Crisp and then the Indians were going to deal Mota to the Phillies for Jason Michaels. But since the trade with the Red Sox fell through, the Indians can't trade Mota to the Phillies for Michaels because they don't have him.
  11. Definately not in the postseason. And there's really no reason anyone should worry about a downgrade in speed from Everett to Thome. The difference in offensive output from Everett to Thome will more than make up for the slight speed difference between the two.
  12. I don't remember much about Carlos Martinez the player but I sure remember that baseball card. By the way, Carlos Martinez is the player who hit the fly ball that bounced off of Jose Canseco's head and went over the fence for a homerun. Martinez was with the Indians then.
  13. Mota fails physical, so Crisp trade to Red Sox apparently off http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ts/13703028.htm Redandwhite, is Andy Marte the best player involved in the proposed trade now?
  14. I am now re-reading that post for the comedy factor of pure homerism at its best.

  16. You already know the answer to that question -- why, the Red Sox of course!!!
  17. I see your point but you are failing to mention strikeout rates. An ace is a pitcher who can dominate teams without a lot of help from his defense. This is the same reason Garland will never be an ace no matter how low his ERA goes. He depends too much on his defense backing him up than on his own stuff. Just my opinion. I rank Buehrle as the #1 pitcher in our rotation but I still don't think he's an ace like Santana or Oswalt. I would bet my life that no GM in baseball would trade one of these guys for Mark Buehrle.
  18. I agree with Kalapse. An ace isn't just a #1 pitcher. An ace is a pitcher who can dominate an opposing team's lineup. Buehrle gives up way too many hits to be an ace. Aces don't need to pitch for contact. Johan Santana is an ace.
  19. Prediction: If the trade goes through, Coco Crisp will be the greatest thing since sliced bread. OR If the trade doesn't go through, Andy Marte will be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Which will it be? Only time will tell.
  20. I don't remember if it was Circuit City or Best Buy but I remember it being because he wanted the discount on electronics.
  21. Tim Thomas b****ed and he hasn't seen a minute of playing time since. It's no surprise to me that the Kings backed out of this trade after Artest opened his stupid mouth.
  22. Vince Carter is a slug on defense and he's a douchebag just like Artest. All douchebags being equal, give me the guy who plays great defense over the showboating scorer.
  23. What team is going to trade for a player that says he doesn't want to play for them? He stopped the trade from happening with his comments. If he said nothing, he would be with the Kings right?
