  1. A good season to me is 30+ starts. 9 starts isn't a full season.
  2. Contreras only started 9 games in 2003. He pitched out of the bullpen in 9 other games.
  3. Do people forget that Contreras was mediocre to bad before his second half of last season? Do people also forget that he is only under contract for one season? C'mon... Contreras doesn't have the track record of Buehrle or Garcia. Contreras could be a stud next season but he could very well be mediocre to bad and he will only be under contract for one year either way.
  4. Williams not resting on his laurels http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/whitesox.asp?id=147020
  5. She's pretty hot but she could use a little more meat on her bones. You need to take her out for a steak dinner.
  6. Damn straight. He is a trip to watch. He never gets cheated on his cuts.
  7. Vazquez, but Contreras could still have the better season ERA-wise.
  8. Minaya did trade Cliff Lee and Grady Sizemore for half a season of Bartolo Colon. Of course, Podsednik is better than Grady Sizemore.
  9. Yeah, afterall... "IT'S HIS TIME NOW!!!"
  10. Now that's a stance I can respect. I just don't like the "Milledge could be a bust" argument. Hell, for all we know Contreras could be a bust next season without his buddy El Duque around. Now, I don't think that will be the case but it's definately a possibility.
  11. I never said that Anderson's minor league numbers were bad. It's just that Milledge's are better.
  12. True, and the fact that we are putting our faith in Brian Anderson even though Milledge is better is even more ironic.
  13. By the way, I'd be much more worried about Brian Anderson being a bust. Milledge's minor league numbers are much better than Anderson's and Anderson is set to be our starting center fielder in 2006.
  14. True, it would be horrible if he's a bust but it's not like we would be trading a pitcher who is under contract for 3 years. Any prospects we would trade Contreras for could turn out to be busts.
  15. Agreed, the reason KW traded for Vazquez was because he didn't think that he would be able to keep either Garland or Contreras long-term. He thought he may have to trade one of them. That means he probably only expected to have 5 starters, not 6. What if 2 of our starters get injured? Should we keep 7 starters then? And I think people are expecting far too much for Contreras in a trade. Even if you believe that he is a top pitcher in baseball because he had one great half, he's still only under contract for one season. Expecting to get one of the best prospects in baseball in Milledge, Duaner Sanchez, AND another pitching prospect that could start for one season of Contreras is pretty ridiculous. I guarantee that people will be pissed if we don't win the World Series next season and Contreras then goes on to sign elsewhere in the offseason. Everyone will say, "WHY DIDN'T WE TRADE CONTRERAS?!?"
  16. Without Contreras... Buehrle Garcia Garland Vazquez McCarthy
  17. How much power do you really need from CF? Milledge probably has just as much power as Brian Anderson but he does everything else better as well.
  18. Milledge DOES hit for power. He had a .487 SLG last season in AA and owns a .485 career SLG in the minors. The reason he is such a highly touted prospect is because he has 5 tool potential. Milledge can hit for AVG and get on base, hit for power, has a lot of speed, plays great defense in CF, and has a strong throwing arm. I'd take him over Brian Anderson in a second.
  19. Here's the article... McCarthy penciled into 'pen http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/ds.../pro/261sd2.htm
  20. He would make a great #2 hitter. The Sox could send Milledge to AAA for 2006, move Anderson to RF when Dye is gone, and put Milledge in CF. A future outfield of Anderson, Milledge, and Sweeney, with Owens as a fourth outfielder could be pretty impressive and I would give up one year of Contreras to see it happen. I'm not positive that the Mets would though but they don't seem to have much of a problem trading prospects.
