  1. Bottalico is old (36) and probably done but he's had more recent success than Thornton has. Hopefully, there will be some better relievers that get cut towards the end of ST. Cheat said that he was more afraid of Thornton being in our bullpen than Logan and he may be right. Logan looks like he consistently throws strikes, Thornton doesn't.
  2. According to George Offman of WSCR 670... * Thome will be back in the lineup today. His hamstring is fine now. * Contreras will throw bullpen session today. * Podsednik will return to the lineup tomorrow against Texas.
  3. Just curious but why? Right now, Thornton is probably no better than Tim Redding. Cooper has less than two weeks to help this guy throw strikes. Would you be happy with Tim Redding in the bullpen come opening day?
  4. According to this Puerto Rican newspaper, Juan Gone first signed with the Red Sox a few days ago. Now they are saying that he signed with the A's. But apparently, he hasn't signed with either team.

  6. No idea, hopefully an expert can answer this question.
  7. LOL, this is confusing... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPGJDHRSFA1.DTL Moral of the story -- never trust Puerto Rican newspapers.

  10. Isn't Crede arbitration eligible in 2007 and 2008?
  11. Not sure. All I know about Cruz is that he's signed for $575,000 this season, arbitration eligible in 2007 and 2008, and will be a free agent in 2009.

  13. Well, I guess we did win it all with a lefty who couldn't throw strikes in the bullpen last season. This season, it appears we will just have another lefty who can't throw strikes with a better fastball.
  14. Hope is all we have. There's definately no record of success with either of these two guys.
  15. The Twinkies already picked up Ruben Sierra. Joey Belle is available though.
  16. One thing I can think of is that having a faster baserunner like Anderson batting ahead of Podsednik sounds better than Crede there. I know "base-clogging" is a stupid term but having a slow baserunner in front of Podsednik isn't really ideal.
  17. Sox' Thornton a work in progress Thornton hit hard; Sox not concerned Guillen applauds new lefty Lefty Logan good bet to make roster
  18. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws So it looks like the opening day lineup will be: Podsednik Uribe Thome Konerko Dye Iguchi Pierzynski Crede Anderson

  20. Frank Thomas and Juan Gone in the same lineup? That would be cool to see. The A's are trying to bring back the great right-handed hitters of the 90's.
  21. It was 4 unearned runs. And the guy gave up 4 hits and issued 2 walks in 1.1 innings. He still folded like a cheap tent after Uribe's error. It would be a different story if he had gotten out of the inning soon after Uribe's error. This guy is a reclamation project at best right now and I hope KW comes up with someone better by opening day.
  22. Right now, it's set like this according to Cooper: Buehrle Garcia Contreras Garland Vazquez
  23. He didn't deserve to lower his spring ERA with today's outing.
