I know, and it's unfortunate. If he's so intent on keeping Thornton on the roster like we both think he is, I would rather he also pick up a more reliable reliever, send Ozuna to Charlotte, and go with a 7-man bullpen. But that's not going to happen either.

Happy Birthday, Buehrle!

Vizcaino looks like Mariano Rivera next to Thornton, and I didn't like Vizcaino either.

Yeah, I'm not worried about our hitters at all. Even if someone like Iguchi falters, KW made sure to bring insurance here. I mean, how many teams have a Mackowiak or a Cintron to fall back on? Gload too. Pretty much, my only concern is the bullpen. Here's some more articles on Jenks... Cotts is Guillen's go-to guy if Jenks struggles Jenks out of ‘zone’

I don't think Borchie will have any more trouble hitting at Safeco than he already has hitting anywhere. When Borchie hits a homer, he hits it a long way. His problem was always taking massive cuts at every pitch and not shortening his swing for contact. He looks like he has started to shorten his swing a bit but he still can't hit a breaking ball. I do think that Everett's power numbers are going to drop a ton at Safeco but that's not exactly a bold prediction.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> How many years in a row are people going to keep making this dumb prediction? How many years in a row do you need to get burned? Jesus.

I hope that KW doesn't just stick with Thornton so he doesn't risk losing him to waivers. I know that the cost for relievers is probably way too high right now. But if there's a better option when teams make their cuts, I hope KW picks him up and doesn't just hope that Thornton is already the answer.

I'm not too worried about Iguchi struggling and never even mentioned it. If he does suck, we have Cintron as a fallback plan. It's a good situation to have. Jenks is a different story though. We are depending on him a lot now that our bullpen looks weaker. It's not like Jenks has had a stellar record of good control -- he walked 6.15 batters per 9 innings in the minors. I do think that we need more bullpen help not named Matt Thornton.

And what would that be?

That was a Scott Merkin article. Obviously, things have changed since then. I had a feeling Thome wouldn't be playing much 1B, if any at all. He is our best hitter and it's probably not worth the risk of playing him there. I wouldn't want to lose his ability to draw a ton of walks in front of Konerko and Dye for any amount of time. Jenks has looked awful so far this spring. I'm not concerned about his velocity -- I wouldn't want him throwing all out in meaningless ST games. But his control is downright garbage right now. He can't seem to even find the strike zone (8.0 IP, 8 BB, 2 K) Regardless of this latest news, we still need another reliever who can throw strikes. Matt Thornton is not that guy. I'm not too concerned with Boone Logan. If he fails, Javier Lopez looks like he could be a decent enough LOOGY fallback plan at Charlotte. Having one unproven guy like Logan is one thing, but having both Logan AND Thornton in the bullpen is not really a recipe for success.

I was hoping that spataro was actually the one injecting the roids straight into Clemens' and/or Damon's ass but obviously that was not the case. -
Greasy face is a stud. He will get on base anyway possible, other than hitting the ball out of the infield of course.

The Rockies' pitchers retired 14 Sox hitters in a row after you posted this.

My guess would be a Google search and SoxTalk came up but who knows. -
Even scarier. What does Jenks have now -- 9 BB's and 2 K's in 8.0 IP? I'm not too worried about his velocity. I'm worried about how he's walking half the guys he's facing.

Scary.

Buehrle was great. He had an unearned run due to an error by Gload. Jenks just gave up the two tying runs. 3-3 tie. Well, Jenks blew this game hehe. 2-run double. 5-3 Rockies.

Man, Spataro51 really had some good sources on that one. Clemens and Damon are juicers... nah, it's just Ryan Franklin and Matt Lawton.
