Who's on the radar?
I wouldn't mind giving Nomo a shot at relieving this spring but I know that it probably won't work. He has been a starter for his entire career, throws around 85 MPH, and his delivery is not at all conducive to bullpen work -- baserunners would steal on him all day long. Worth a shot but I'm sure KW is looking at bigger and better options.

Who's on the radar?
Okay, that makes much more sense than just saying he's too old. Okay, so what other options are out there guys? I think that Beane would try to rob anyone for Juan Cruz since he's having a great spring so far.

Okay, here we go... You seem to think that Osuna is too old for our bullpen even though he's the same age as Politte (32) and a year younger than Hermanson. Then you say that Hideo Nomo would probably give us the same performance as Osuna out of the bullpen. Hideo Nomo is a 37 year old starter who has never really pitched out of a bullpen so how can you make this assumption? That just doesn't make much sense to me.

Reynoso really has good stuff. He really (obviously) needs to hone his control.

Read the thread again. I'm not the one telling you to stop talking about a certain player or poking fun at your "man-love" for Juan Cruz.

Who's on the radar?
Nope, I just think that you were ill-informed. Thanks, exactly my point.

Who's on the radar?
Okay, but I never said that Osuna was a great option. I said that he was better than Redding. And read through the thread again. Almost every one of your comments regarding Osuna was wrong so I had to correct them.

We just traded away three highly rated prospects this offseason. Shouldn't this have been expected?

Who's on the radar?
The point is that McCarthy will be eating up innings, isn't it? That was Vizcaino's role last season. Hermanson pitched an inning per outing last season and he's the one we have to replace. Afterall, he's the guy who's injured right? By the way, Juan Cruz pitched 32.2 innings last season and was shellacked to the tune of a 7.44 ERA AND he would cost talent to acquire.

Who's on the radar?
I thought that we needed a guy to replace Hermanson and pitch one maybe two innings at a time? McCarthy is replacing Vizcaino. Hermanson pretty much pitched an inning per outing last season (57 games, 57.1 IP).

Who's on the radar?
That's my point. Beane isn't going to give Cruz up for some scrubs. Relievers are at a premium right now. Everyone wants them. The Nationals just lost their great setup man Luis Ayala for the season after he got injured pitching in the WBC. Even a guy like Cruz won't be cheap.

Who's on the radar?
Antonio Osuna is 32 years old. He's the same age as Politte and a year younger than Hermanson. Osuna's last good season was with the Padres in 2004 (37.2 IP, 2.45 ERA). He also pitched well with the Yankees in 2003 (50.2 IP, 3.73 ERA). I'm not saying that he's a GREAT option but he's damn sure better than Tim Redding as a replacement for Hermanson. I wouldn't mind Juan Cruz either but who knows if he's available and who knows what Kenny would have to give up for him? Osuna is a free agent and could be acquired for next to nothing (a minor league deal).

USA vs. Mexico
You realize that other teams competing with and even beating the USA is probably a good thing because we will get to see all of the other truly good players who are out there, right? These are guys that wouldn't have had a chance to showcase their talents before. Also, Griffey is a poor defensive CF'er at this stage in his career. Sorry to break it to you.

Not if his glove doesn't improve. He already has 4 errors this spring. His bat looks great though.- Borchard making push to overtake Gload
Arm strength in CF is the last thing we have to worry about. That's probably Anderson's best tool.- Who's on the radar?
Don't be so sure... Juan Cruz (career stats): 4.36 ERA | 1.44 WHIP | .250 BAA | 8.45 K/9 Antonio Osuna (career stats): 3.68 ERA | 1.31 WHIP | .238 BAA | 9.23 K/9 Obviously the stats are a bit skewed because Cruz started 23 games for the Cubs. Cruz has a lot more upside but I wouldn't exactly put my money on him to outperform Osuna. If Cruz is throwing strikes he's fine but he is known to have trouble with his command at times and then he's pretty much worthless.- Borchard making push to overtake Gload
http://dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=167791 Wow, Logan's fastball reaches 93 MPH? That's some pretty damn impressive velocity for a sidearmer. I'm almost starting to believe the hype. It would be sweet if he turned into another Brian Fuentes. Lord knows, we could use a decent reliever right now.- Ozzie says Contreras is ready to go

Wow, big jump for the porn star. If he pans out, he will probably be replacing either Buehrle or Garcia in 2008.- Terrell Owens to the Cowboys?

No, no he didn't. No team wants to trade for a reliever WITH A KNOWN BUM BACK. Does Kerry Wood have a lot of trade value too?- Who's on the radar?
We were never going to be able to trade a reliever with a bad back. - Game Thread - Sox vs Tex
