Your suggestion from yesterday is still the best and cheapest alternative to replace Hermanson, IMO -- Antonio Osuna. He would probably only cost a minor league deal and we wouldn't have to give up any prospect(s) for him since he's a free agent. Urbina would be the best option but he hasn't been able to break out of jail yet.

I doubt that Arizona will be moving any bullpen guys, except for maybe the guys who won't have any chance of making their roster. The whole reason they acquired Vizcaino and Bajenaru is because their bullpen sucked so bad last year. The Diamondbacks had the worst bullpen in the entire MLB last season (5.40 bullpen ERA). And even when their bullpen is set, they will want to have a few of those extra guys that don't make the roster in the minors in case one or two of their current bullpen guys falter.

I think that they have a never-ending supply of Puerto Rican players for us (Javier Vazquez, Javier Lopez, Alex Cintron). Agreed. If Redding is getting a shot this ST, Nomo should as well. There's really nothing to lose anyways.

Players don't always know their own bodies. Mark Prior thought he was fine until today. Now he is off to see an elbow specialist. When Podsednik is swinging the stick toward the end of ST and playing on opening day, then I will feel fine.

All I know is that Podsednik hasn't been playing at all this ST. There is a reason for concern, regardless of what anyone thinks. Let's not be lemming Cubs fans and assume that Prior and Wood will be healthy to start the season.

Take it easy, feisty. Nagging injuries can tend to delay an initial prognosis (see Mark Prior). I'm not saying that Podsednik won't be ready to start the season but I don't know if he will either. I just don't buy everything I see and read in the media. Hopefully, Podsednik will be ready to start the season. I guess we will find out soon enough.

I guess Ozuna could start against some tough lefties. He hit them well last season, even though his defense is shaky. But you are just assuming that Podsednik won't be ready to start the season. We don't know that yet.

That wouldn't hurt a ton though if it does indeed happen. Mackowiak would just start in LF and probably lead off. It might have an impact on Borchard making the team though.
