  1. Vazquez and Freddy are looking like f***ing studs in the WBC.
  2. Agreed, I would give Nomo a shot in ST and see if he could be a viable reliever. I mean, if Redding is getting a shot why not Nomo? If he stinks, then you look elsewhere. I still think Antonio Osuna should be brought in on a minor league deal if he's healthy. He appears to be as he pitched an inning for Mexico in the WBC.
  3. Freddy pitched great considering the D.R.'s sick ass lineup... Freddy's line: 4.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB (intentional), 4 K, 1.23 ERA
  4. Not that I want them, but how long until more and more Cubs fans come over to follow the Southside team with the Cubs organization continuing to feed them more and more bulls***?
  5. The Tribune wants to continue the "Lovable Losers" theme. They want Cubs fans to think that everything is actually happy and there's nothing wrong. If you recall, there were quite a few empty seats at Wrigley when they were tanking last season. The games were sellouts anyways because the tickets were already sold. The Tribune is about making money. They don't want to lose any "Lovable Loser" fans to the Sox, for example.
  6. From what I have heard about Cintron, he is really inconsistent with the glove at SS. He will make an outstanding play one minute and completely botch a more routine play the next. There's no way his glove is as good as Uribe's although his bat could be better.
  7. That's what happens when your team is owned by a newspaper. It's always cheery and happy on the Northside!!!
  8. Everyone here called this one, including Steve Stone on The Score. The complete and utter BS continues to be spewed by the Cubs. Yeah, they didn't know about this. They need to start drafting/signing pitchers who aren't made of glass.
  9. Luis Vizcaino gets the win against us. For shame... Recap | Box score
  10. Great post. Osuna still looks like the best option to me. He is probably the best reliever out of that list and he would likely only cost a minor league deal, definately under a million dollars. The Sox are supposed to have scouts watching the talent in the WBC so maybe they are checking out some relievers as we speak. It looks like Ozuna only pitched one inning for Mexico with 2 strikeouts. http://www.worldbaseballclassic.com/2006/s...t=t_ibp&cid=867
  11. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines Nice to see that teams are actually scouting Borchie. Gload in the outfield.
  12. If he hits like he did in 2003 (big if), you won't be. Since then though, Cintron hasn't been a very good OBP guy. After his breakout 2003 season, Cintron has been putting up Neifi Perez-like numbers with a bit more power. He doesn't walk much but he doesn't strikeout much either and makes a lot of contact. Hopefully, he becomes 2003 Cintron again. I found this article at the Diamondbacks' website... http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/NASApp...t=.jsp&c_id=ari
  13. Haha, I would take Osuna back in a second. I liked that dude a lot (not the poster ). He was pretty good in 2002 with us. He's still a free agent and I guess he pitched well in a Mexican league... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...guenum=&id=1999 Osuna had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder last May so he should be healthy now. Also, he's not completely old enough to be in gas can territory yet (he's turning 33 on April 12th). Great suggestion, by the way.
  14. Scott Sullivan didn't play at all last season due to a lower back strain and had back surgery in late August. He's still a free agent and he just turned 35. As for Wunsch...
  15. There's no way you trade Politte. He was probably the best middle reliever in the entire MLB last season and he's making peanuts this season ($1.2 million). Even if he doesn't reproduce last season's numbers (which he likely won't), he's still valuable to our bullpen. Hermanson would have been ideal to trade after his career year but obviously no one is going to trade for a reliever with a bad back.
  16. Nah, Felix Diaz can take his 6.75 ERA elsewhere.
  17. I totally would. But right now, he looks like he would have trouble putting up an ERA in the 5's, and that's if he even pitches for us this season.
  18. Well, other than Hermanson's fluke career year season he had with mediocre stuff and striking no one out. I wouldn't have expected Hermanson to come close to repeating his numbers from last season. I would have expected an ERA in the high 3's or around 4 if he was 100% healthy.
  19. Sure, I think so. But someone also has to apparently replace Hermanson now. And a second lefty has to apparently replace Marte. That's two holes, not one.
  20. Our two bullpen holes last season were Marte and Vizcaino, right? While I didn't like either of them, Marte had a 3.77 ERA and Vizcaino had a 3.73 ERA. What two guys do we have that can replace that production? I know it's just ST but I'm not seeing it so far.
  21. Okay, then take out the second lefty... Healthy & productive relievers: McCarthy Politte Cotts Jenks We are still short two relievers, based on your criteria.
  22. Yes, there would be -- the crappy second lefties. With Hermanson looking to be injured, we now we have two potential bullpen holes.
