QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) underage drinking is also breaking the law. Yes, but I never got caught. And as whitesox... said in the post above, if I would have gotten caught, I would have bleamed myself, not the excise polic that are doing their job. It's like this: we all speed, and when we get caught, who's fault is it? The cop that was doing his job by keeping the roads safer for everyone?

QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) His comments were way out of line, but I find it hard to believe that some of you didn't drink until legal age. Not in a bar.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) I don't know how worried my parents were about my safety as I was growing up. I remember being 10 and leaving home in the morning, heading over to the lake for the day, maybe playing some baseball, and not seeing my parents until way later. Now, if I don't know where my kids are 24/7 I get worried. Big milestone this week. One of his buddies just got his drivers license. Ohhh crap. Ain't that the truth? I used to leave first thing in the morning and all was cool as long as I was back around the time everyone turns on their porch lights.

QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) I'll be too busy working for nothing and then earning my keep at a poker game to watch. Good luck in the poker game!

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) I love our summer party also. The pool is open, the horseshoes are being tossed, the kids play in this huge blow up castle I bought at Costco, the older boys usually are playing pool or virtual golf in the basement... everyone is eating, drinking, and having a good time. I wish it was warmer out for SB. But we do have a hot tub on the deck if anyone wants to venture outside. I don't have the pool...yet, but we have most everything else you mentioned. I have a playset instead of the pool. We play volleyball, corn hole, horseshoes, whiffle ball. Then, when it gets dark we go in the garage for a band and karaoke!

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) One of Jim's friends planned the first 1 and there was stale chips, nasty pizza, and warm beer. We had a poker night a few weeks later at our house and waalaa... Steff the party planner was born. None of this order pizzas BS.. I get Portillo's catered or Subway sammiches so there are like 8 varities. Make nacho or taco dip. Veggie tray, chips & salsa and usually a salad for the healthy guys. Sometimes I make gravy and have some pasta or Italian sausage. And of course plenty of beer and PLENTY of ice to keep the beer cold. Then, once that's all done... move the hell out of the way The guy that does our's does a pretty damn fine job. No where near as good as my summer party, but hey, it's indoors.

My wife is just like you, Steff. She digs football. I like having her there. The group that throws the SB party is a group of my friends that, for the most part, aren't married. The "ring leader" is one of these guys that likes to plan "all guys" outings. I had to tell my wife that it was guys only. Well, you guessed it, there would always be girls there. So, I started bringing her to everything, including poker nights. They didn't like it, but got the point really quickly.

QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) I work for The Mirage in Vegas, and the last time I checked, the Sox are 10-1 to win the AL Central, 20-1 to win the AL Championship, and I think something like 40-1 to win it all. This was as of about a month ago, though, but those odds don't tend to change very much once the major free agents have signed. And yes, like somebody mentioned, the odds are based almost entirely on what teams the bettors are betting on. All Vegas (and all other gambling entities) care about is making money. They couldn't care less who wins - all they're interested in is making the odds such that regardless of who the fans bet on, they make their share. And the last time I checked, new casinos here in town are being built year-round. Well put. So, now I can get a deal whenever I want to stay at The Mirage?

Addition of Red Wings irks some in UHL
mreye replied to Controlled Chaos's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This is crap. Doesn't this violate their Union bylaws or something? I know a Union construction worker is not supposed to do side jobs. Wouldn't this be considered a side job if they're getting paid? -
WTF? :headshake :headshake

QUOTE(silver and black @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) What would happen if the rat "said" spring is almost here or whatever... I don't care. He has no idea what he's talking about. It's an idiotic tradition. I'd like to fry that rat up and make tacos with him!
