Is "small ball" KW's concept with this team?
mreye replied to BlizzardOfOzzie's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) Yes. Small ball means giving up less runs & scoring less runs but preventing droughts of runs. It's all about manufacturing runs with base hits, moving runners over, hit & runs, stolen bases, hit by pitch, sacrifice hits, & walks. What about catcher interference? -
Sun Times article on Iguchi, fans, & 2005 lineup!
mreye replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) The article confirms the Sox have a 3rd yr option. The article does not mention the incentives. It's incentives that will likely pay Iggy 6M/2yr which would suggest to me the 3rd yr is a 4M base + incentives. So in the end it might turn out to be 15M/3yr. Which still is still good. The only way Iggy makes that kind of $ is with top performance. I thought I heard on 1000 yesterday that it was a 5 mil base. We'll find out soon enough. -

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) Or maybe they just have a life and don't need to post 20 times a day like Southsider, Tex, or lately, me. When was the last time SS only posted 20 times? His wedding day?

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) National Party? As opposed to "local"

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Uh... thank you! Excellent work. Do you work for the National Party?

I don't understand why people have a problem wearing their seatbelts. It's not uncomfortable. And even if it is...so f***ing what! Fine, don't wear yours, but for the love of God, put one on your 4 year old! Asshole, now your whole family's dead!

Isn't the Yankee color a little closer to Navy blue?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) As a parent who has seen this every summer for the last few years, I hope he wins. If the teachers want to make these assignments, then their ass better be available for help when the students need it. Of course they aren't. If the schools cannot teach the full curriculm in the normal school year, then there is a problem. Instead, last summer I listened to my daughter stress for two months that her 8th grade year was already ruined before it started because she couldn't complete an assignment. I agree, Tex. Giving a list of books to read for the summer on rainy days is cool, but Calculus? Come on!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) :finger What happens is the water backs up in the filter basket and overflows everything. Then I come here and am nasty to people. I may even throw a couple cups of water and ice on someone I meet. Seriously, though, how many times have you really done that? I'll start the coffee, get in the shower and when I get out, I've got coffee all over the counter and floor. To make matters worse, I have half stale coffee to drink all day or start a new pot and be late for work.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) I hate coffee pots. I just replaced my old one because the brew hold, pour and go, whatever function would fail and water, coffee, and grounds would spill all over my counter. The new one, a different design and manufacturer, is doing the same &^$$*( thing. Who loves their coffee maker? What brand, model? You're supposed to empty what was left over from the day before! Duh!

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) So are you saying that Billy Graham was calling John Kerry Hitlerlike? Not in that particular quote. I won't defend Billy Graham across the board. I know he's a nutball!

QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) As clearly seen in George "I haven't made a single mistake" W. Bush. Haven't we done that?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) Much like in the case of the ever more coroborated THEORY OF EVOLUTION. I leave work in 30 minutes. I'll pass.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) Well when you only quote and do not use any substance in your own arguments than all we can work with is what is inferred by your statements. Lets look at the chain of events: Yasny says he prefers god fearing man, to non god fearing man. I post that is illogical. You sarcastical post: "Best argument I have ever heard, I am converting." Your response intuitively suggests that you are in disagreement with my statement. If you are in disagreement with my statement which was in disagreement with Yasny's statement, than you are in agreement with Yasny's statement. So therefore, eventhough you have tried to weasel your way out of taking a position by merely quoting and throwing in 1 or 2 liners, it is clear to probably anyone that knows what the word "infer" means, can understand that you infer a position with your posts. It may not be your position, but when you do not explicitly state a position, and rely on piggy backing on some one elses statement, Yasny, than it is reasonable to believe you are taking a similar position. Whatever the case, I really do not have time to argue semantics. I would be interested in why believing in god would make you any better at a job than some one who does not believe in god. But that is not the way this thread is heading. SB I don't believe it does automatically make you a better President, but I agree with Yasny, that I'd rather have a Pres that does believe. Can you see the difference. Maybe I'm not making myself clear. I'm commenting about Grahams comments about God guiding elections. I tend to believe that. That's not to say that God only wants Bush as apposed to Kerry this time. I believe it goes further. I believe God guides the men that run for the presidency. Kerry wasn't going to burn bibles or anything like that. I do believe that in a leadership position as influential as President of the United States believing in God will make you a better leader by making you humble. Geroge Bush believes that there is a higher being that he must answer to at sometime and therefore will be less likely to believe that he is God himself.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) To some how equate "believing in religion" with "better president", with out any form of proof or evidence of why, believing in religion will make some one a better president, is kind of silly. Did I do that?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) Scientists are theorizing that the "great dying" was caused by volcanoes and not an asteroid impact. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=2&ObjectID=10007535 "theorizing" makes it true, right? Just like the theory of evolution and the theory about global warming.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) Just for claritys sake, I am not saying the belief in god is right or wrong. But would you want an accountant who kept saying: "You know its harder for a rich man to get into heaven than it is for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle." Or would you want him to carry out his mortal role, and let you worry about your own sanctity, religion. SB My accountant isn't the "Leader of the Free World."
