  1. But I thought this would only happen if the "wing nuts" outlawed abortions?
  2. LaSalle St station is te end of that line and it stops at my building. (LaSalle & Congress) (One Financial Place) You may be best off taking a cab from there. Check the CTA web site for the L to get you to Soxfest. The Purple, Orange and Brown have lines nearby. The Blue line is around the corner and the Red line is about a 4 block walk. When you get off the Metra take the "Y" to the right, go down the escalators and on your left will be a map of the city with all the lines. It should help you.

    Weird Quirks?

    QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) I insist on writing my small "a" like this typeface. Oh, I hate people like you!
  4. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) NYC Cops suck balls. I was on my cell phone for 20 seconds and got a ticket. I didn't even know it was against the law to talk on the cell phone while driving. With my NJ license and Indiana plates, they still didn't believe me. Well, 90 dollars later - now I know. Isn't that called mansrea (sp) or something like that? Lawyers?
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) Which goes to the big philosophical difference between US and many other world governments. We want our government to provide as little as possible to the people. We want to be able to make our own choices for as many things as we can. We don't want to be told what school to attend, what doctor to see, what organizations we will fund etc. Bureaucracy has exploded in the 20th century after the New Deal of the 30's/40's, and now we have an almost entire population who has no idea what it means to exsist without government assistance of one sort or another. Its a direct correlation of why we went from needing no income tax in the 18th and 19th century, to having a huge debt today. Many countries have a history of entitlement so that is how their government and societies are set up. They pay high taxes, and they expect to be handed everything. The US historically wasn't founded like that. One founding father envisioned the US as independant utopian farmers, with an extremely limited government. That is why the government leaves much of charity work up to the private sector. And by and large the private sector responds as US private citizens give more to charities and causes than the rest of the world combined. Thanks, Mike. I was humming "God Bless America" throughout that.
  6. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) Well that's good, but what percentage of aid have they given to Africa this year? That I'd like to know. AIDS makes this tsunami look like a b****.
  7. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) This post made me go out and do some research. -Since World War 2 US Foreign Aid has gone from 15% of the federal budget to .72%. -In 2000 the top recipient of US aid was Israel!?! -Of the other top beneficiaries in 2000 none were from Africa -As of 2000 America isn't even close to being the top foreign aid giver when it comes to percentage of gross domestic product -UN recommends at least 0.7% of the GDP, the US as of 2000 have given 0.1%. -As of January 10 the US was 5th in total amount of aid given (gov't money) Notice I mentioned private dollars in my origianl post.

    Weird Quirks?

    I started doing it recently. I have no idea why.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) KW I doubt. There are players who check out the site, I know that for a fact. If I had to guess, I wouldn't be surprised if the PR dept keeps an eye on us and WSI. I would be willing to bet if anything interesting gets said, it does get passed up the ladder though. Did you say "Eye?"
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) damn we are easily amused We're guys. We like to &
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) A brothel in Nevada was giving a freee "service" to returning GIs from Iraq.
  13. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) Beaver fur will NEVER go out of style. Or do I mean furry beavers?

    Weird Quirks?

    CDs, DVDs, Board Games - Alphabetical Books - I have a large collection of Presidential biographies - They are organized by what number of President they were. Alarm clock time set 5 minutes fast, of course. I brush my teeth in the shower.
  15. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) Don't worry I'll never badmouth the USA, just the yoyos running it and the zombies that follow them. That's badmouthing right there. You're calling me a zombie. Yes, this has lots to do with Indonesia - That's part of foreign policy. Helping out in a time of need anywhere in the world. We give more federal dollars and private dollars than anyone! It's a biproduct of our type of government that you despise so much.
  16. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Because America as is right now is a regressive country. Oh, come on. In your opinion. Yeah, real regressive in Indonesia, huh?
  17. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) Okay I got my facts wrong but as of 2003 the United States defense budget is 11 times as big as the next largest, Great Britain and I'm certain in the last two years this budget has risen. Although I also remember reading recently that they wanted to make budget cuts? http://www.clw.org/milspend/ushighestbudget.html http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0401/S00066.htm Any guesses as to why that is? Shouldn't be that difficult.
  18. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Another thing thats always interesting is everyone hates America so much but yet when something bad happens who is one of the first contries they run and cry to?? Then when they get helped all they do is b**** and cry about how back America and its people are. If I had my way I would let the world figure out their own damn problems and let America work on its problems and see how that works out.... Amen. A - Freakin' - men!
  19. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Because we actually care about putting money into the right places such as healthcare and education. :puke
  20. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) I agree with you totally on this one. We had an open road to Baghdad, solid international backing and about 3 times the troop strength in theater that we have now. I was 13 years old at the time and was watching General Powell doing his little briefing on CNN showing on the map where our forces were and that there was nothing in front of us and thought to myself....."So what's the holdup? Finish it." The "holdup" was the UN and the people around Bush 41. The UN only wanted to get Saddam out of Kuwait. The Bushies thought it would be political suicide to stand up to the UN and "go it alone." He decided to stick with the UN. The future told it was the incorrect decision, and IMO, helped him lose the election in '92.
  21. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Of course it was bulls***...Dubya needed an excuse to go finish what his old man didn't have the balls to do in the 1st place.... Yeah. You know what happened in 91. :rolly
  22. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) I’m a complete failure. Still.

    Semi clean pranks

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Depending on the style of chair you can slowly pour water into the foam until it is water logged. It takes a lot of time but when they sit down it's like sitting in a puddle. We have Herman Miller chairs. They're like a mesh seat. Good prank, though. I'm liking what I'm hearing. Keep 'em coming!
