  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Detroit, why not let a division rival blow their money with a long term contract on an injured player. It would be more fun to see the Cubs do that.

    QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Sorry to bump such a sad thread, but I thought I would add to its list of thoughts/prayers/concerns. My best friend from highschool just found out the tumor on her heart, previously diagnosed as benign is actually a form of stage 3 or 4 lymphoma. It came as a huge shock to all of use, she's only 22. So, if you could please keep in your thoughts and/or prayers and send her some healthy vibes that would be much appreciated... Prayers from me and my family for sure. I just noticed something in Jester's original post on this subject. He didn't know why he was sharing this with strangers. I'll tell ya why, buddy, because we're not. We may not have all met each other, and we may argue a bit now and then, but when times are tough we pull together for each other like a surrogate family of sorts. Sorry to get a little sappy.

  8. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) And according to reports, in places like Fallujah [re: the BBC] the amount of voters seen there can be "counted on one hand" They updated those numbers to 8,000 in a city that only 20,000 have returned to.
  9. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) That hurt to watch that. Over and over again.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) I'd be curious to see some cencus stats. http://www.cityrating.com/citystats.asp?ci...hicago&state=IL

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) I would guess it would get about as much as this has, which isn't all that much. Remember the frenzy with Monica? The impeachment trial? This isn't close to that magnitude, nor should it be. No, I mean if it came out in addition to this story. If it came out exclusive of this, I think it would get about as much coverage as this has.

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) Seriously, do you really believe that? No, but extensively? Yes.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Willie Harris for that dude from Oak Lawn that killed the Cubs last year? Steve Bartman?
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) I'd love to be a fly on the wall during those negotiations. Regardless of how people might feel about Boras, you have to admit, the guy gets the loot. Agreed. He's just doing his job.

    QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) You know the Bose commercial is a commercial. Yes, the media never reported a single Clinton scandal Yes, I know it's a commercial, but they do the "commercial" within the context of the shows now. Even Paul Harvey says "Page 2" when he does a commercial for JB Weld.

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Sitting here wondering what I would do. If I had just wrote a column that states Dubya has put together the best cabinet of any President this century and I pick up the phone and Chaney is offering me $50,000 to promote the Bush cabinet, do I take it? It is clearly something I already believe, I am not altering my views, and it seems like easy money paid to me wink wink consulting firm. I think that's probably what happened here. I don't like this. I think it's unethical. And it stinks. But, I know it's different, but how different is this from a Rush Limbaugh telling me to buy a Bose Wave Radio all the while he's listening to a Sony? Besidess the tax dollars, what's the major difference?

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) As I mentioned, I will be shocked if the Bush Administration invented this. Give it time, someone will unearth other payments from the Clinton White House. And I will be shocked if it's reported!
  21. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Read this! :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou That was just toooooo tempting! I've got nothing. I'm searching and there's nothing there. You win.
  22. I heard on ESPN this morning that Boras is issuing a counter offer.
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 03:40 AM) I'll read when I want to read You'll read when I tell you to read!
