  3. I wish I could say I was surprised.
  4. It's done. They just did it. :rolly :sleep
  5. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) i think it's a combination of both the Ryan screw-up and the strength of the party. I think the Ryan issue might have a greater effect on statewide races such as Govenor or Senate.. but even in local Congressional Races (Bean vs Crane) the Dems have been doing a great job of getting out the vote. On a side note, I also think the great Suburban sprawl will help the party a lot. Younger people like myself that are buying their first house are moving to areas that were typically solid Republican areas. (Batavia-area, Round Lake-area, Plainfield-area, etc) Thus I would expect races in these heavily Republican areas to get closer and closer each year. You're probably right. Good anaylis.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Considering the GOP ran ANOTHER governor candidate nameds Ryan, and had to "import" a candidate for the senate, I'd say the Illinois GOP is so screwed up that there is only one effective political party in Illinois. I absolutely agree. I think the GOP is done in Illinois for a long time. The only way to speed up the recovery would be for the National party to come in and clean house, but not put in their own people. I'm glad I live in Indiana, but I still care about what's happened to the Illinois GOP. I hope King George rots in jail.
  7. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Content Democrat... while I'm unhappy with my party on a National Basis, I'm very happy with how my party has been doing here on a State Basis in Illinois. It could be better, but it certainly could be worse. Just a question. Not trying to spark an arguement. Do you really think the Dems are doing well in Illinois, or is it that George Ryan so screwed the GOP that people want nothing to do with the Republicans?
  8. Come on you two, I think you know that's not what he means (At least I hope it's not since I'm defending him ) I think he means the BS about lawncare and a book. Come on, this is ridiculous. And coffee sweetener? Everyone knows coffee's better black anyway!
  9. Don't forget this part of that sentence, Tex.

    Best Seinfeld Episode

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) I'm trying to think of a bad one . . . I didn't really care for the 2 when Kramer was in California, but other than that it's hard to think of any. Besides, the final episode, of course.
  13. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) Thanks SS2K5 -- It looks like the other one came June 30, 1999 against Jon Lieber also No way! That's awesome!

    Photoshop Contest

    QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) I have so many ideas for this thread, so little skill at photoshop. Same here. Really enjoying all the great ideas, though!
  15. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) which is exactly why this team is drastically different than the past 4 years. that should be enough to not be discouraged. Don't worry. It's January. I'll be excited by March.
  16. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Yea, but look at the class of 2007! No kidding! I could see 4 or 5 going.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) I disagree. The main point of this thread was the abuse of the Patriot Act by our wonderful Federal Gov't. See the thread title, if you have any questions. EDIT: Damn new board ... this was supposed to be a response to Mr Eye's remark: "What's that supposed to mean? No, the main point of this thread was this guy and his case." Yeah, but in this particular case, not the Patriot Act as a whole. I guess it really doesn't matter.

    Ready for snow?

    QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) Here in Indiana where I live were supposed to get 1/2-1 inch of ice and 2 inches of snow. Im hoping for no school! Where in Indiana?
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) So...this means it was a REALLY bad stocking stuffer for my daughter this Christmas? Oh, man. You are SO going to hell!
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) And really, that seems to be the main point of this thread. Thanks for steering it back on track. What's that supposed to mean? No, the main point of this thread was this guy and his case.
  21. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) There's a column in Salon.com by the Ask the Pilot guy that talks about how difficult it is to blind someone by a laser beam in a cockpit. The "temporary blinding" that they are talking about is more like the cockpit being briefly bathed in light rather than actual blinding. Although its not a great thing to do, this is hardly a sinister act. The guy shouldn't get off. But he shouldn't be spending 25 years in the pen because he was looking at the stars with his daughter and a glorified laser pointer. ACK! We agree again! WTF?
