    Travel Tips

In less than a month I will be flying for the first time since 9/11. Not because I've been scared. I just haven't had anywhere to go. I've just always preferred driving. Anyway, on to my point. Anybody got any tips to get us through security quicker and easier? What not to put into carry-ons? I know I've heard that you should put all of the stuff in your pocket in a clear plastic ziplock. Anything else? Any links?
  2. I'd like to add another thing to this "If we get rid of all the guns, crime and murders will go down and we'll be just like Japan debate." Handguns are outlawed in the city of Chicago. Sunday night my brother-in-law got held up at gunpoint in Chicago. Hmmmm.
  3. It's all over the place. It's not secret. There's also similar results in Great Britain.
  4. Yeah, sorry I didn't comment on it. I was heading out the door for home and HAD to post that!
  5. Australia banned guns. Look what happened within a year afterward: OBSERVABLE FACT, AFTER 12 MONTHS OF DATA: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2% Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6% Australia-wide, armed-robberies are up 44% (yes, FORTY-FOUR PERCENT) In the state of Victoria, homicides-with-firearms are up 300%
  6. I'm better off. WAY better off, in fact. When Bush was elected I was unemployed from a job that I was working 70+ hours a week, very few days off, no Holidays off, no Holiday pay, no overtime. Now, I'm in a "cushy" job. I own my own house, which I remodeled a little bit. Married. Two cars. A 2 year old. Another one on the way. (There, that's my announcement. ) I'll steal this from Chaos: I could have wrote that myself. It's right on the money from what I see and know. My brother-in-law finished school at the end of May from Purdue-Lafayette and moved in with us in hopes of getting a job downtown. He starts with Wachovia Securities next week with a pretty decent starting salary. In the meantime he's been working part tme at a bar and living pretty well.
  7. Yes. Or a mugging. This doesn't mean they shoot the "perp", but only "brandish" the weapon to get the "edge."
  8. "Claim?"??? Ever read the Constitution? :headshake
  9. There are approximately two million defensive gun uses per year by law abiding citizens.
  10. I think your anger (and your brother's) is a bit misguided. The Grandmother is just doing what any parent or guardian would do, especially in the litigious society we live in now. The personal attacks on the Grandmother, and her entire family for that matter are, in my opinion, uncalled for.

    Do you own an ipod?

I don't know what you guys are talking about, but my family has been here for 200 years.
  12. Yeah, that's EXACTLY what the NRA says. And that's EXACTLY what the 2nd amendment says. :rolly
  13. Happy Birthday to a Hoosier from another Hoosier. (I never realized there were so many on here. )
  14. I'm upset about this. I expect more of a warning when he comes back next season!
  15. Attacking Iran or Syria or North Korea isn't in the cards as of yet. It's a totally different situation than Iraq is/was. Diplomatic talks have not been exhausted, as they were in Iraq. Remember, this attack did not just come out of the blue. There were a dozen years of sanctions against Saddaam and Iraq. A dozen years of Saddaam defying those sanctions. A dozen years of our's and the UN's planes being shot at. People continually act like we went over and attacked a peaceful person and nation out of nowhere. That is not the truth.

    Political Coverage

Spinsanity rules! I've been reading it for a while now.
  17. Everything I'm hearing is a quad bypass. Hillary is on her way from upstate NY. Prayers to him and his family.

    RNC Day 3 Thread

I can agree with that. I think it needs to be in a different thread as well, though. This one is becoming more like a study session for the CPA test. My head is spinning.

    RNC Day 3 Thread

I'm sorry. I thought I was in a thread about the Convention.
  20. That's pretty bold. Reagan won 47 states in 1980 and only got 51%. 49 states in 1984 with 58%. I don't think it'll end up being as close as SS thinks, but I don't think W will get 55%. I think the media will make it seem very close on election night, because of how the f***ed up last time they'll be reluctant to call a winner too soon.
  21. I stole this from Jay Nordlinger from National Review. Link
