  1. When we bought our house from my Grandmother, we got it on a quit claim and paid the taxes ourselves. When we got a mortgage, the homestead exemption never transferred. You figure the mortgage company or the title company would say something. Huh. And another thing, the county screwed up our mortgage exemption. It got lost somehow. We still had the receipt that we had paid for the paperwork to have it done, but the county pretty much said, "Oh well, you're screwed for this year and it will be exempted starting next year." Assholes! :fyou As a result of these two f***ups, our property taxes are about $1000 more than they should be. Add that to all the prop tax problems that we already have in Lake county, Indiana and you've got yourself a major clusterf***! / rant over \
  2. Exactly. I think the Dems supported giving China MFN status. That;s just one, but I'm tired. I've been debating this forwarded e-mail with a guy from work all week.
  3. It's a good cause. I have a hard time believing that there isn't enough money from churches to fund a program like this. I KNOW my church gives to things like this, and we don't have enough money to pay for air conditioning.

    Numbers fun..

It is? Ahhhhhhh! Run away. Run away real fast!
  5. Forgotten by who? BUsh? I don't think so. The American people? I don't think so. The people that I know that are currently there? Not by a longshot. By me? No way. By the media? Absolutely. They've dropped the ball on this. I guess there isn't enough blood. It's sad is what it is.
  6. He was sent home? So he "left the building"?
  7. Next time go back 10 pages!
  8. "Damn, your brother in F-I-N-E!"
  9. That sounds familiar. I love my wife even more now!
  10. My wife did that for our wedding. All black dresses. They were able to pick between 4 different styles. The guys wore tuxes, but they were only $20 because it was the 3rd wedding in our group from that same tux shop that summer! The guy set us up real sweet! The worst dresses I ever saw were lime green. The bridesmaids all carried 1 sunflower. Yikes. I had to blink to make sure I wasn't having a nightmare when they started walking down the aisle.
  11. I somewhat agree, Tex. While everyone else was trying to talk him into staying out later I just stayed quiet. I just figured he's gone already. If this is what he wants - it's what he wants. He'll never have the relationship I have and IMO, that's his problem. If this is what he thinks is a perfect relationship - so be it. Part of me is glad they live so far away.
  12. I understand what you mean. But, I mean if she accepts your friends and fits in well, she'll make friend with their girlfriends and wives. My wife went to a huge high school and doesn't stay in constant contact with a lot of people from there, unlike me, who went to a small school. But, she makes friends easily and now hangs with my friends' wives. I'll give you an example: when we were dating we went to a bar with a bunch of my buddies and there girlfriends. I saw somebody I hadn't seen in a long time on the way to the bathroom. I stodd there and talked to him for about 30 minutes. When I got back to the table I thought I was going to hear about it. But, instead, she just said, "Hi." I knew I was in love. A girl that didn't need my constant attention!
  13. How did I EVER get my wife to go out with me?
  14. I don't think it's so bad, if she accepts your friends, but with her, that's obviously not the case.
  15. I'll let somebody else start the baby picture jokes.
  16. Aha! I almost forgot! The first we saw her was during the ceremony and then in the receiving line. The reception was only a dinner and an hour or more of conversation afterward. There were three tables at the dinner. One of her family, one of his family and the third was my wife and I, a buddy of our's that was stag, his frat brother and wife, and his father and his g/f. The bride never came over to our table after the dinner to conversate! And, she didn't have any friends there - only family. That was creepy to me.
  17. They've been together for at least a little over 2 years. I first met her at our ten year reunion, where they got into it and he left without even saying goodbye. That was a red flag to me then. They've been shacking up for a while, from what I understand, in the apartment that she has lived in for close to ten years. He moved away to live with his Dad right after he graduated from college (1996). He came back fro his brother's wedding in 1999 and then I saw him at the reunion (2002) and then now. So, three times since '96. He's changed a lot apparently. To be honest, he never really was that strong of a personality, but this seems to be a little over the top.
  18. See, that's the thing. To us, it wasn't about a "Bachelor party" per se. It was more about not seeing him for over 2 years and who knows when again. We just wanted to hang with him for a while. We promised not to go to the strip club. We promised not to get him drunk. We just wanted to see him...for more than 3 hours.
  19. I posted this right before I left work last night, so I'm going to reply to questions one at a time: It took a while to figure it out why they went to Vegas. I guess she is infatuated with Vegas. She knows all about the history and such. She's been keeping up with the trial of Jack Binion's murder and so on. And during the reception dinner she spoke and said, "Thanks to everyone for making my vision come true."
