On one hand, it doesn't surprise me that they would find out some relevant info. On the other, it doesn't surprise me that the Administration would claim this - true or not. Just my $0.02

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) hey! One at a time! Don't break him. O s***!

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Your one eye isn't the only thing round shaped. Wait, that came out wrong.... but I'm gonna go with it anyway. "You lookin' at my gut? I'M WORKIN' ON IT!"

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) Then whose ass did i grab? Hey, big boy.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) They could also choose to not watch the TV show. I'm not a fan of pressure on affiliates to drop programming. I'm a fan of pressure on advertisers to stop supporting programming. I'm a fan of encouraging people to not watch a station because of programming. But mostly, I'm a fan of watching "controversial" programming disappearing because its just so f***ing boring. My favorite was The Savage Nation! on MSNBC. It got the axe because he said something about I hope that gay person catches AIDS and dies or whatever. But it was gonna get the axe because it was flatlining in the ratings anyway, getting 0.1s. That's always more fun to watch. I think they can pressure whomever they feel like pressuring, but I get your points. I hear ya on "Savage Nation" - I never even heard of it until he said that s***.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/01/05/t...reut/index.html If you dont like it, change the channel. Dont deprive others of watching something because you dont agree with it. aaahhhhh censorship Who are you talking to? The AFA? That's their point. It's called boycotting, not censorship. They don't have the direct power to take it off the air. Am I missing something? How come it's OK for a Union to strike, or lefties to march against...well, just about everything, but it's censorship when a religious group speaks out against a TV show?

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) You make some good points, but obvious it's that LCR wasn't really trying to point out the difference. To the contrary, he didn't care if he stepped on the toes of a billion+ Catholics with his comments. And when he calls the members of the Catholic Church "hypocrites" and "fascists," that includes my priest. And I take offense to that. Ditto.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) If the mods/admins are concentrating on the issue of the discussion on the church or some other specific hot button issue, then frankly, the point of this thread has been missed. The thing that burned people up here, if you look at the initial postings, was that an Admin used their authority to post in a blocked thread to get in a last word. And his response, frankly, was well short of any kind of apology, or even an acknowledgement that he/she did something wrong. This situation may cool off quicker if said Admin apologized, or at least acknowledged the classless act, and then promised to not do that again. He kind of did and re-opened it. It has since be re-closed. While I still have a problem with it, it's not my "beef" anymore.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) Wow. I hate to offend anybody, but this a subject that is a powder keg. The way I'm seeing this discussion is that LCR, Mr. Kickass and FlaSoxxJim are condemning some of the policies of the institution of the Catholic Church, and not the faith or the religion as a whole. The Church, throughout history, has done an uncalculable amount good and compassionate deeds. Conversely, the Church has history of spilling a lot of blood, corruption, using the name of Christ to serve it's own policies and politics. Maybe you're right, but apparently more than one person was offended personally. I'm not a "rapist apologist". I am deeply offended by the actions of the church in some of these cases, but I am also offended by someone saying: If you want to f*** kids join the preisthood. All priests are not pedophiles. It's a stereotypical statement that wouldn't fly in any other case and IMO shouldn't fly here - Fillibuster or not.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 09:45 AM) You know what I hate? They say "Quarter-Pounder", but that's the weight pre-cooked. If you are advertising 4 ounces of burger, then that's what I expect, not whatever's left once you're done screwing around with it. And nobody speaks up about it either, they just let it go on. The American public needs to wake up! I just order a double.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) I see that this forum is going to become a cesspool of crap now. No offense, PA... but why start a thread specifically just to start crap? As has been stated in a couple of other threads, we'll have to figure out how we want the events of the last two days to shape this forum. Until then, let's at least not bait people. Bravo!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 08:48 AM) Actually I hate to put this on hold, but basically we are trying to decide for ourselves what we want to do here... The whole point of this board was to let all of the mindless crap that had infected SLaP go somewhere else, and that we could let people basically be idiots if they felt the overwealming need, and the implicit agreement was that if you were posting there, you know what you could read there, and we wouldn't have to babysit. Basically we are discussing if there still needs to be a line, and what crosses it... Stay tuned for further developments. If there wasn't a "line", then I stand corrected and will keep my disdaine to myself. But, if you want my opinion there should be a line as I said in my other post. You know me, Mike. I'm not one to get into these heated arguments too often. I'm not one to start a thread like the two I've started the last couple days. But, this really burns me up. It's blantant disrespect for someone's religion and faith - NOT a debate. It's stereotypical bulls***. Again, I can't get away with that when it comes to race or sexual orientation. It's the same thing.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 08:53 AM) You're Catholic, white, and republican, pretty much everything you say is racist. Even asking if you can say something is racist...so please stop with the offensive questions/comments.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 07:17 AM) They were saying this morning on WBBM AM that it was his left brain functions that were affected and he would very likely never return to politics. I pray for him and his family, not to mention the Palestians and Israelis through this process. I just heard he's "Critical" now. It doesn't sound good.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) Cwsox?

But, blatant disrespectful, stereotypical bigotry is quite another: I'm not faint of heart and I'm more than willing to get into a heated argument, but does this mean I should have to put up with this? Could I, as a male, white Catholic, say the same type of things about Jews? Blacks? Women? Does that fall under "heated argument"?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 07:45 AM) Thank you. Those "jokes" place us in the same light as beer drinking, coach attacking, running on the field, simpletons. What'd you say about me?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) LMFAO! I know - you haven't been out much... and that's cool... but dude, someone's got to get you out to a real steak joint. Amen! I love the Bourbon Street steak at Applebee's, but come on! I still need some Heinz 57 with it.

South Park Really Ticks Off Catholics

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) I could really give less than a good damn about offending the majority of Catholics. Thank you. While you don't care you have. Me being one. I think any appeasement of rape, abuse of children is evil. That shouldn't be a reflection of me as a Catholic or any other practicing Catholic. We're more outraged than any non-Catholic. Trust me. I should not be condemned and insulted because or the despicable few. Thank you. -
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) I think Mommy and Gramma need to relax. You know what would help them relax? A nice HOT bath of their own.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) Before you pile on the s*** storm, if he was posting when the thread was locked, he can still post and not know the difference. I've done that before and not meant to. He posted 2 and a half hours after it was locked.

Mods abusing their power by opening up a closed and locked thread, making huge assumptions, name calling, calling priests thugs and goons and then re-closing the thread. Pretty f***ing classless if you ask me. Reminds me of a former mod/admin we had a problem with. Pretty f***ing despicable. Is this not under the rules of attacking? :headshake

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) If a law is needed to clarify for a parent that their kids shouldn't be left alone while they are in another state.. then they shouldn't be parents. I don't care how mature the 9 year old... or 10 year old.. or 11 year old... etc, etc.. JMO.. But it was Vegas!...on New Years!

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:10 AM) Yep. One woman said he very clearly and emphatically told the families they were alive. How the eff did he tell the families that, when clealry he was unsure? Hopefully the media circus will get the hell otta there now and let those poor families grieve in peace. Yeah, right! They have to stay for at least the funerals. Duh!
