  1. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Sadly, common sense, much like common courtesy, ain't so common any more. So true. :headshake
  2. You know what's sad? Everything that's being suggested here is common sense! Come on, people.
  3. mreye

    Holy shredder.. !

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) That was nothing short of the coolest thing I have ever seen. I'll have to get me one of those. You need to get out of the house!
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) For all who are interested in a few more details, I did a blog post about it. http://boringtheworld.blogspot.com/ Another plug? This is getting old, Mike!
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) Or *he* could be hung like his daddy Before y'all get pissy on me, I know y'all were thinking it And congrats again SS Man, he left himself wide open to that, didn't he? Finally! Someone around me having a girl. I've got 2 and everyone I know is having boys! I guess we'll just have to keep trying.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 06:19 AM) I really didn't think so during the trial, but supposedly the longer the jury is out, the worse it is for Jackson... Now where is my sticker? That's my thoughts exactly. I said Tuesday - Not guilty on all. Wednesday - Guilty on contributing alcohol to a minor. Thursday+ - Guilty of molestation.
  7. I think it's kind of cool. What?! What are you looking at? These have been around for years!
  8. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) But can we transform this thread into a 250 post Eric Chavez debate? I'll bet he would help with our attendance problems.
  9. Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  10. Send them both both up the river.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) Here is the initial blog. http://purgatorywithpantagraphs.blogspot.com/ There might be a little tweeking done, but overall, I love the color scheme as it matches the old train and seat colors. Not bad. Oooo, them nasty colors. :puke
  12. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) Caprice (on awaking in the hospital): Hey, Gilby, I guess i made it. Thanks for taking gatting my back, bro'. Marrero: Uhhhh, uhmmm, ...err... [Caprice's wiffe bends down and whispers in husband's ear...] Caprice: HE f***ING DID WHAT???!? That's gonna be one awkward moment.
  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) If he had a medical license, it would have been legal. Two people commit the same crime to their baby, one spends the rest of his life in prison, the other is free because she had a "right" to do it?! :headshake It all seems soooooo wrong and illogical. My thoughts exactly. What a shame. I thought we would only have these things happening when we outlaw abortion.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) D's are a step above failing in the US. Grades go A (90-100%), B (80-90%), C (70-80%) D (60-70%) and F (under 59%) BTW this was my favorite paragraph He got a 69 and 79 in Poly Sci, and got a 77 in French of all classes I didn't catch that. Nice!
  15. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) How about "Exodus on the El"?? It's not the El. It's the South Shore.
  16. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:47 AM) This is why seeing every team in a four or five year rotation is a GOOD thing. Just wait, just wait, until the feeding frenzy this weekend with Red Sox/Cubs. The Boston fans will be all over that neighborhood. And, hopefully, the cops!
  17. Is this like The Price is Right? ONE DOLLAR!!!!!!!!!!!! June 30, 2006 cwsox
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) I kinda wonder how many sox fans will be at Petco this weekend?? Probably not as many, because San Diego is a harder ticket to get. The park will be more full and you won't hear them as much as in Colorado. But, I'm sure the camera guys will be showing them.
  19. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) Something dawned on me this past weekend in reading Ozzie's comments & looking over his mass-substitutions. All he cares about is winning series. I can't really blame him. The Sox are 4 gm's up on the Twins. +5W, -3L. That scares some Sox fans. Ozzie could care less. Once his team has won a series all he cares about is getting guys playing time. That's the luxury winning teams can afford themselves. If the Sox win tonight don't be surprised if he does it again. Over the course of a full season it's probably the smart thing to do. Give everyone as much playing time as you possibly can to sharpen their skills so they are ready to play in the event of an injury to a starter. It could be the difference between winning & losing when that killer Aug comes along. Even though we want the sweeps & we get angry when we let them get away in the big picture they don't mean a heck of lot. Which would you rather have? An 8 gm lead on the Twins now with little playing time for your bench or a 4 gm lead where even your backup C Widger has seen action in about a 3rd of the games? It's been said I think in another thread but there is comfort in knowing that even despite Ozzie's mass-substitution days the difference between winning & losing on most of those days has been bonehead mistakes. The Sox didn't get beat as much as they beat themselves. Great post, Jug! While, I'd like to see some more sweeps, I have to agree with you. Come August, September and even October , we're going to need the bench - BIG time!
  20. It's Interleague baseball, people! There are Sox fans everywhere! If the Sox were in Colorado 5 times a year, it wouldn't have been that loud. This is the first time they've ever been there so every Sox fan for miles around made plans for a special trip when they saw that on the schedule. There are always fans of the visiting team in every park. In interleague baseball it's more concentrated. It's not fair weather fans. Yes, there were probably some there, but that's not who you heard screaming.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:57 AM) Me I probably should have gotten that, but you never know. Personally I liked the obscurity of the name, and the joke that as a South Shore commuter, you get to skip pergatory because you have already been there. If anyone has other cool name ideas, feel free to contribute. And mreye, if you are interested, I would love to have you as one of the posters to the blog. Nothing big, just when you see something funny, ironic, or entertaining, post it. It doesn't have to be an everyday thing or anything. Sure, no problem. No, I don't have any good name ideas. It's actually growing on me already, though.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:46 AM) The Pantagraphs are the metal things on top of the SS train that connect the train to the overhead wires. You're Catholic right? You should know what Pergatory is... Yeah, I know. It should have been green. My cousin works for the railroad, so I know what pantagraphs are, and yes, I'm Catholic. Clever, but how many know what "those electric thingys on top of the train" are called?
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) BTW, what do you all think of the name "Pantagraphs to Pergatory"? I'm from Indiana. I don't know what those words mean.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) I want to try to do the same idea as those other two, the overheard in NY and this one from the CTA CTA Tattler, except having more stuff about the stupid conversations we have, and how many muggles we offend and run off. It has become almost a contest for us. I also want to get as many SS commuters as possible to contribute, that way we can cover as many trains as possible. Sounds cool.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 06:34 AM) Some friends and I are thinking of setting up a comedic style commuter blog for people who ride the South Shore train into Chicago. I wanted to show them a couple different blogs, but I only have the link to the CTA one. I seem to remember that there was a pretty excellent one for New York City, and if anyone has a link and/or a name, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance Geek! BTW, let me know when it's up.
