  1. I was laughing at DJ asking Pall what hazing things he had to do and he replied that he had to sing the Canadian National Anthem. DJ tried to get him to sing some of it. They had the same damned conversation in Toroto! Come up with some new material, DJ!
  2. Why do we worry about this?
  3. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 26, 2005 -> 07:15 AM) I realize you're not the first one to make such statements, but they're spurious statements regardless of who from the right is making them. They're borne of the same monochrome perception that begets the "love it or leave it" crap levelled at anybody critical of any aspect of America. Now, it's that anybody who calls screwing up screwing up is a Muslim extremist sympathizer cheering for America to fail. I learned last week at the movies that supposedly only the Sith saw the world in such absolute black and white terms. But that is not actually the case, is it? Again, you misunderstand and I've grown tired of trying to explain the difference between pointing out criticism and rooting for failure. PS I haven't seen Revenge of the Sith.
  4. QUOTE(winodj @ May 26, 2005 -> 06:50 AM) Making the most extreme left wing folk in our movement speak for the rest of us is like saying that David Duke is representative of White America. Being Progressive, or left-wing, or liberal or whatever the hell you wanna call it has less to do with the people involved and more to do with the basic ideas involved. You can be a liberal without liking Susan Sontag as much as you can be a conservative without espousing the views of James Dobson. Aren't you the one that always brings up Limbaugh, Hannity, etc?
  5. Jim, Apparently, I'm not the only one that sees rooting against America by the left. This is what I meant in the other thread.
  6. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 25, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Big surprise. It's a big surprise that our troops abuse detainees? Is that what you mean? Sad that you assume the worst about them.

  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 25, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) The numbers corresponded with their spot in the batting order, not position. Babe Ruth was 3# not #9. And Gehrig was 4

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) I didn't even know about it... Then again I called off to do mortgage crap so I wouldn't have been there anyway. They're expecting 16,000 and I'm the only Soxtalk member? I should get a free T-shirt to wear during the race or something.

Thank you! Yes, Indiana does not claim him. His family only moved to Indiana so he could get into Indy racing.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Just to save you guys time... This thread will now debate the term "Ace" for the next 4-6 pages. Ladies and gentlemen, Nostrodamus!

  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 25, 2005 -> 03:59 AM) Were you sitting near any of those hot chicks they showed on the broadcast? Oh man! The one in the blue tank top? Wow!
  17. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) I also would like to add that I passionately hate the Minnesota Twins along with the Chicago Cubs. Like this is any surprise. O.K. You passed the test. Welcome!
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2005 -> 05:51 AM) What is making this fun is in the past my businesses have all revolved around manufacturing and representing companies. First it was primarily US based, then Mexico, then I was doing overseas purchasing offices in countries whose names I couldn't spell. A friend of mine jumped off that treadmill and started a lawn care business. A Canadian in South Texas, moving lawns I've been watching him for a couple years and he is so damn happy. The other part is my son is old enough and has a few skills that he can add and my wife is interested in helping with a few things. In the past there was really nothing they could do. So my transition to Texan is almost complete. Western boots (steel toed), 3/4 ton V10 Dodge pickup, and a big payroll. Hell, I'm 9/10 of the way to becoming a GOP-erhead If I didn't look so stupid in a western hat, I'd have to pick one up. I'm so proud of you, buddy!
  19. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) We may not be the best choice, although I challenge you to find someone else with the willingness to make it happen, but as of now we are the only choice and without our leadership Saddam Hussein would still be burying thousands of his own people in mass graves. Despite the media's single minded obsession with blood and death in Iraq there are a lot of great things happening over there. Too bad that your "allah fearing clowns" are getting all the press instead of those who are making things better for that country. That's what I'm saying. No, the route to freedom and democracy in the mideast may not be perfect, but something had to be done, IMHO. Can you imagine today's media covering the attack on Normandy? 400,000 died there.
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) RIP Thurl. Thurl did so many great voice characterizations. Half the voices at the Disney theme parks are him, and lots of animated characters as well. The sad thing is he didn't even get credit for his singing part in Grinch until a relreleased version just a few years ago. Boris Karloff was given entire narrative credit, and the song vocalist was left uncredited so the assumption by many was that it was also Karloff. That's why the credits weren't 15 minutes long like they are now. They didn't give credit for every little thing like the star's massage therapist, etc. look at the credits for "It's a Wonderful Life" - probably less than 30 seconds. A lot of eople got jipped in the movie and more than likely the pocketbook as well.
  21. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Let's let it be. We're all too inflamatory here sometimes. The real point is that villainizing the media, the anti-war camp, etc., instead of proactively addressing missteps and misdeeds done in behalf of the war doesn't solve anything. And we can be sure that now that the media has been battered and accussed of not fact checking as aggressively as they should, from here on out all of the things that go wrong are going to be topheavy with fact after gruesome fact. ... and of course the media will again be accused of sensationalism and sabotaging the war effort by publishing all the the facts, the pictures, testamonies, etc. that have been demanded of them. I'll let it be. Let me be clear on this, though. I don't mind criticism, either in here or in the media. But when that criticism crosses the line to rooting against, that's when I have a problem.
  22. He also sang the Grinch song. "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch..." RIP
  23. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) Ach, from what I recall much of that 13 pages was just flames back and forth, but if you think I'll find a pro-behedding post or two in there I guess I'll dig back into it again. Thanks. OK. I never sais there are pro beheaders. I said they seem to be that way. Big leap, Jim. Maybe I was a bit too harsh, but that's how it somes across to me sometimes. Way to focus on one single word in my post.
  24. Interesting commentary on supposed media bias.
