Sending a kid to college?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) This is what I don't really get. I have gone to a 4 year school from the get go. Now its a commuter school (pretty much all of the Cal State schools are, the UC's are still semi heavy commutter schools) and my family isn't in financial trouble, but my tuition is about 1400 a semseter, books, parking everything else at most 600 bucks which would put you at 2000 a semester (costs and such) and than 4000 a year. I really don't see this as being much at all, in fact I think its probably the best bargain of my entire life. I don't know if most states are this way, but I think most places do a pretty good job of making college affordable. Now if you want to go to Stanford or somewhere else (private schools) obviously your going to pay a lot more and the student can decide whether its worth it (in Stanfords case...maybe so, in the case of USC...hell no, imo). If someone is in that type of bind, they always have the option of 2 years at a community college (absolutely nothing wrong with going this past cause you still can get into any school you want to if your grades are good enough). Its like 21 bucks a unit or something like that so you spend maybe 300 bucks a semester plus books. Highly affordable for 2 years than your final two years you can go for 2000 a semester. Thank you, Jason. Most states have discounts for in-state, but I believe California is by far the best.

Sending a kid to college?
I just read the first part about the California kid going to UNLV. Isn't school free for him at a state school in Cal? Or at least extremely discounted? Stay in state or quitcher b****in'!

Sox should run wild at Coors
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Dookie and Count are bad at keeping runners on...must be a Cuban thing. Freddie taint so great himself. A couple. MB and Garland aren't too bad and that helps keep them numbers down. We would probably be just as bad as the Mets without them. Remember, a pickoff is a CS.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) It's time for Uncle Jerry to call in some of his connections. Like Mayor Daley. He's good at bulldozing things in the middle of the night.

Sox should run wild at Coors
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) I wonder where we rank...we give up lots of steals too... Yeah, but a couple pitchers do a good job keeping them on first. That helps. I would bet that this stat about Colorado has a lot to do with the pitchers.

Pregnant woman arrested after refusing jury duty
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) I am mixed on this. She should have sent the notice back with a doctor's note that she was pregnant instead of attending, getting on a panel and then not showing up. Did she call the court? When you are on a panel, they give you a phone number to contact the court in case of emergency. Exactly. And how pregnant was she? The story doesn't say. Everybody knows - You HAVE to let them know what's going on. That being said, the last time I served - the guy incharge said the send out 1000 notices a week - expecting only 500 to respond and only 250 to show up. He said they rarely go after the no-shows. It depends on the mood of the judge.

Open Mouth. Insert Foot, Fox News
QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Nine times out of ten, the Fox News Channel will deny that there is a bias to their coverage. Although CNN is really becoming just as bad, as much as most people don't want to admit it... the RNC's preferred media outlets are NBC, Fox News and CNN in that order. CNN? Really? I haven't watched it in a long time. I didn't realize.

Chicago Marathon - extra long!
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Chicago Marathon was a mile too long LMAO. How do you screw this up? And what about those people who didn't qualify for Boston because they screwed up? I'd be pissed. Chicago a lot of people use to qualify for Boston because it's flat. I don't think this is the qualifier for Boston. This is the Lakeshore Marathon on Memorial Day. The qualifier is the LaSalle Bank Marathon, usuallly run in October.

Open Mouth. Insert Foot, Fox News
I take the "Fair and Balanced" tag to mean that the news as a whole is now fair and balanced, not neccessarily Fox News itself. I know that's not what they say, but if you look at it that way - it's totally different.
