  1. Come on, Roman, Lighten up on Olivo. He's been part of this team since the first day of ST. He's helped win some games and has always hustles, and everyone knows he's getting better all the time. I hate to see our roster shaken up, regardless of the cause.
  2. Jon Adkins had a tough no decision Friday night. 8 innings, 0 runs, 5 hits, 2 K's. Knights lost 1-0 in 10.
  3. DaSox, How can anyone not have time to read a single book.
  4. Another lefty, but I think Carl will be starting.
  5. If Sandy retires after this year, Riv and Burke will fight it out for backup catcher. Question: Was Burke on the 40 man roster before the move? I don't think so. Rivera was, and is, however. That fooled me as much as anything.
  6. Don't tell the Cardinals about his hanging curve.
  7. Burke is supposed to be a better defensive catcher than Rivera -- that's prob why he was brought up.
  8. Uh, Rex, I think I posted something to that effect a couple of days ago. That is, he'll get a couple of starts in Charlotte, and we'll see.
  9. good, I don't want to read that non baseball crap.
  10. Can he play an adequate centerfield or not? I don't get to see enough games to give a valid opinion, but from what I have seen, he plays mighty deep and lets a lot of bloops fall in front of him. There are two things I know to be true: 1. Rowand is a much better centerfielder; and 2. Everett will be playing centerfield. 3. plus, our two rivals have gazelles in center.
  11. Second degree assault is second degree assault. That's what he was prosecuted for. Makes no difference if it was on a baseball field or in a grocery store. The crime does not deserve a life sentence. What the f*** does Gamboa know about the law? Less than Kobe Bryant. Besides, most of the damage done to Gamboa was from 40 rabid players piling on, not from that overly tattoed pipsqueak. Probation and comm. service is not necessarily a cakewalk. I'm a concerned citizen, and I am satisfied.
  12. What happened to our leader?
  13. We can speculate all night on what might have been or might not have been because of that trade, but it just can't be justified because it ruined the 2002 team. No team could have survived Todd Ritchie in 2002, and that trade had nothing to do with Colon coming here this year.
  14. If I'm a minor league pitcher, I think I would like to be in the Red's org for a year or so. We have about six guys who would be promoted to the Reds in no time.
  15. I think he was going by Tucker's reaction. He is a tough kid, and he would not have been grimacing like that for so long over a bone bruise.
  16. You're probably right; they would have held out for one of those guys instead of Biddle.
  17. This team is weird. Tuesday, a 5-1 lead, we hang on to win 5-4. Today, we have a 4-0 lead, we hang on to win 4-3. If we would have been ahead 6-0, we would have won 6-5.
  18. Colon won 20 games the year before for fairly mediocre teams. We would have jumped on him like a tall dog, even if we had three Kips and three Foggs.
  19. No question, Robbie is an upgrade at second base, particularly on defense. But it doesn't make sense to compare him to the departed Jiminez, because I believe that Harris would have been getting most of the action at second had we not acquired Alomar. Jiminez was already toast. If Robbie can continue hitting .290 or so, he will get some offers next year, particularly from us.
  20. Rex, I take you knew Joe when he was with the Barons. What was your reaction when we included him in the Foulke/Koch trade?
  21. Where does it say we would not go for Colon if we had Wells and Fogg?
  22. Called up by Cinci yesterday.
  23. We have our ace going at home against their #6 starter, we get a quick 5-1 lead, and hang on to win 5-4.
  24. Where was he pitching this year and was he lights out?
