QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) And that 1 that he walked was the old unintentional-intentional walk too. Jackson deserved the win last night and the loss was on the offense, but Jackson wasn't a dominant pitcher for the middle 3 innings. I could be a real jerk and say "Yeah but Hudson wouldn't have given up as many hits, look at his last game line!" but that's just as silly as your point. My God man, you're disgusting me in this thread. Jackson didn't do enough to shut out the Orioles. f***in a he gave up 1 run. It's blatantly obvious that he'll never be able to live up to your ridiculous expectations of him. Seems like you won't be satisfied unless he throws nothing but perfect games because you love Hudson so much.

Bunting twice with no one out was really, really dumb. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) Just got back after PK's HR. He really is a legitimate MVP candidate. If by candidate you mean "everyone who's a notch under Miguel Cabrera" then yes. -

I hate humanity. The guy apparently should have been hit harder.

Viciedo hits the ball very hard most of the time. -
Seems like McGrady will be a Detroit Piston.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 01:51 AM) Again...will it ever air on Comcast SportsNet? I want to see it >. Ya, I mentioned it earlier. Comcast SportsNet will be re-airing it in the next week or so.

Ugh, so heart-breaking to see that Berkman deal denied.

If we do keep him, I have faith in Cooper that it's an "easy" fix.

QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Ichiro would be a bold move. Hypothetical... RF Ichiro 2B Beckham CF Rios 1B Konerko DH Quentin SS Ramirez C Pierzynski 3B Viciedo/Vizquel LF Pierre

QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Ichiro would be a bold move. And one that I would have loved for the past 3 or 4 years.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) I wonder if KW even checks with Oz or Jerry before making trades or if it's all on him. Probably all on him. Absolutely not. He goes to Ozzie and KW with every single move.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) did Cowley seem like he knew the name or is he just hearing this from his sources without names attached? Hard to tell, but I get the feeling he didn't know any specific names. And technically, he IS a source. He's there at the stadium and with the team every single day. He knows as much about the goings on in the organization as anyone. As much of a douche as he is, he knows what he's talking about.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) Or pick up the option for next season that Berkman may require to waive his NTC. Quite the opposite. From what I've read, he required that teams DO NOT pick up his option.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Are you kidding me? Putting Kemp in RF and hitting Q DH would not make us better? Did you guys see what Kemp did last year? Ya, he'd be an upgrade. I don't really care what he did last year, he's been disappointing this yr. Would I love to have him? Absolutely. But I don't think that's what Cowley was referring to.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) I'd bleep myself if we got Kemp. How is he doing this year? Was one of the most disappointing players in the 1st half.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Yeah I think Kemp could be a possibility. I don't think he fits the "shocker" and "immediately considerably better" tags though though he's been better lately.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:30 AM) You are completely misunderstanding my point. No one said crime isn't an issue, that's a straw man. And all crime is an issue when you are a victim. My point is, the numbers tell us that crime is down, not up. If you want to live with your selection bias and say its not, well, I guess I'll just say I am 8 feet tall and everyone else is lying. There is a lot of crime in Chicago, just like in any other big city. And it sucks, and I am all about finding ways to fix it. But the PERCEIVED increase in crime is the fact that so much more of it is being reported in the MEDIA now, than we saw previously. Hell, the Trib, who ran the article I quoted, is a major contributor to that change, with their constant breaking news band on their site focusing on crime. And by the way, I think that's a good thing - this is exposing us to the reality that was always there, but that we didn't really understand. There is a lot of crime. You can show me a million numbers and statistics and it won't mean anything to me.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:51 AM) While i agree with you that very likely was not a case of mistaken identity... the flipside is still plausible. Could have very well be an a one of, or a combination things: initiation, proving you are a ''man, proving how loyal they are to the gang. If you can kill an innocent person, a kid who has not even had the chance to experience the great things in life, you can kill anyone. In leaders eyes it's highly respected, and they feel you will live and die for that gang, with no in between. If you say you are gonna commit murder (initiation, etc) in a gang, and then renege, they will make sure whatever was planned for your target, is carried out even more brutally on yourself. Exactly. There are so many aspects to being a member of a gang that people don't understand. Find the most religious person you know, and I can find 5 who devote their lives to their gang just as much. It's religion for a lot of these people. For some it's family. And again, the news doesn't report s***. And I don't know what news you watch, but like I said, I've never heard a specific gang name mentioned. And they certainly never say "The Kings and GD's are fighting over so and so block."

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) In the other thread, Russ, name the other teams that have been as active as the White Sox have been over the past 6-7 years in getting big players that become available. This is some fantasy you seem to have that there are other teams out there constantly loaded with prospects and acquiring veteran all-stars every year simply with a wave of their magic wand. There are none. The White Sox have made more transactions than any other team in baseball since KW has been here.
