QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) Except that violent crime rates in Chicago are actually going down, and are lower than a lot of other cities. So despite the fact that we see this in the news every day, we're actually better off than a lot of places. Crime is a major issue here, but its not as bad as most people think, if you look at the numbers. So I'd say the opposite of your post is true: see this article for a perfect illustration of this. Ugh. Go show this post to people on the west side, or the far south/southeast side, or in Pullman, or Roseland, or any of these other neighborhoods and see what happens.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) OK, it's definitely sad for someone of that age to suffer like that. Having said that, and despite his age, you don't get shot 22 times for no reason. It was a mistaken identity, which happens all the damn time unfortunately.

QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:52 AM) Source says the second prospect is another pitcher. I bet it's Torres since he was pulled after 75 pitches tonight. http://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/19890599061 Hudson and Torres for Jackson. I do not like that.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:46 AM) Not sure what to think of this, but if the Sox DO move Hudson, it's going to have to be for a SP with Peavy out. I'm also getting the impression that the Sox aren't as high on Hudson as they've led us to believe. Especially considering that Jackson is having a pretty crappy year and has had his share of mediocre/poor seasons over the course of his career. I dunno, they seemed to be very high on him from everything that has been in the papers and from the little the mentioned him in The Club. They moved him through the minors very quickly.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) Per Espn Insider: good news keep coming for d rose fans. Rose is one of those rare guys who could potentially be the best all around player in the NBA. He's got insane strength for a PG. He's one of the fastest players in the league. He's got a huge wingspan. He's so ridiculously athletic. And he has an incredible work ethic. Improving his defense is a lot more about effort than it is technique. And in a Thidodeau system, there is no reason for him to not be an elite defender with his length, strength, and quickness. He's improved his mid range jumper leaps and bounds and is now working on a 3 pt shot. We know he can distribute the ball, and now he's got more toys to play with. It's scary how good he could be.

I don't really get it. Why the hell not just move Hudson and more for Haren? Here's a couple scenarios going through my head based on how the Sox do things.... 1.) The price for Dunn was Hudson + 1 of Flowers/Danks/Morel. The Sox really like those 3 guys and can get Jackson for Hudson and a lesser prospect, in which case they flip Jackson for Dunn and get him "cheaper." 2.) They keep Jackson and Williams believes he can be dominant based on his stuff + extensive discussions with Don Cooper who has persuaded the FO that he can make something great out of Jackson.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:31 AM) Let's not get carried away. Ya, because I clearly think that is a feasible possibility.

QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:27 AM) I was running on the possibility it wouldn't take Hudson to get EJ. Then using Hudson/+ another prospect to get Dunn. Hudson for EJ ,straight, is a bad trade for us. Hudson has the same ceiling as EJ, and is under team control for longer and cheaper. Hudson could be used to reel in someone bigger than EJ This all just feels a little weird. I'm not used to White Sox trades being reported before it happens.
-
Hell, maybe LaRoche is involved?
-
Hudson/Viciedo/Flowers/Morel for Jackson/Upton. Let's do it.

QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:21 AM) I'm all for it as long as it doesn't involve Hudson. I'm also not so sure it has to. AZ could use bullpen help. I'd love it if they could acquire EJ and then dangle Hudson for a big bat. My 1st choice would be Werth. But what if KW really stuck it to Rizzo and acquired Dunn and Jackson? And to those saying he'll be expensive next year, who's to assume he won't get traded in the offseason. After teams overpay/lose out to free agency they'll frantically look into trading for a reasonably priced SP. It'll only benefit the White Sox, but only if Hudson isn't included. Since, IMO, Hudson has more value than EJ. Edwin Jackson and Jayson Werth to the South Side by Saturday, I've got my fingers crossed. There's no possible way we got both Jackson and Dunn. They want Hudson and more. If we move Hudson for Jackson, then what?

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:19 AM) Rosenthal: #WhiteSox in serious discussions for Edwin Jackson. Would send RHP Daniel Hudson and a prospect to #Diamondbacks. Story on site soon. #MLB 7 minutes ago via web I sure as hell hope not. Oh f*** no.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:18 AM) That wasn't the point. He'd definitely be here if that package was all it took to get him. And now that I think about it, who is Griffith? Nevin Griffith

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:02 AM) If it was, Big Puma would have been starting against the Mariners by now. I don't think so. It seems pretty clear that he isn't very high on the Sox priority list.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:30 AM) The wave does indeed suck. You know what else sucks? All the $60 "authentics" that people now have. First it was football, then hockey, now their invading baseball stadiums nationally. Disgusting. Just buy the replica for $100. I'm not sure what you're talking about. Whats is this $60 authentic?
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) I hate it. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I hate it. That. A friend of mine posted a FB status during the game that said "Doing the wave at the Cell. It went around 5 times!" and I responded "I hate you and everyone else who has ever done the wave at a baseball game."

I'm pretty sure the second that Guillen gets traded, they'll be calling up Kila. They've got Kila, Gordon, and Moustakas sitting in the minors raping ass right now.

CSN will be re-airing The Club starting in mid-to-late August.

No need to look for another pen arm! The signed Joe Adkins to a minor league deal today.

Official deal: Capps/500k cash for Ramos and Joe Testa

Rosenthal says, for now, Yankees out of Dunn sweepstakes.

I don't know if any of you have been hearing about all this, but there have been an insane number of shootings in Chicago this summer. A kid was shot 22 times yesterday while riding his f***ing bike. He wasn't even in 8th grade yet.

Starting seasons on Friday's makes it so much easier for college kids to skip their classes on Opening Day, or simply not having any classes at all.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) Not sure if this has been posted yet Per the Score this morning, Beckham was told by Kenny that he will not be traded. So that nips Fielder talks I would assume. Ya I posted that yesterday. Merkin was all over it.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) Yeah I'm at the point in trying to decide if she's even worth trying for. If a girl is going to flip that quickly I don't really want to be around her. I might give it a few days before I try to talk to her again and if I still want a relationship I'll give her an ultimatum. I'm finally getting out of the shock factor. Things seemed to good to be true, turns out they might have been too good to be true. Ya, I didn't have to decide. Sexy cheerleader, easy to talk to, loves sports, and even more importantly, knows what the hell she's talking about. The only thing I don't like about this girl is her insane love of Tim Tebow.
