  1. Sam Smith: It's All Those Jazz! Bulls have their starting two guard as NBA sources say they agree to $12.5 million three-year deal with Ronnie Brewer Currently under contract with the Bulls: Rose Brewer Deng/Korver/Johnson Boozer/Gibson Noah/Asik Marc Spears from Yahoo! Sports reports that Brewer turned down an offer from Boston because of the likelihood of him starting in Chicago. "I got an opportunity to start (in Chi). Both (Chi and Bos) are storied programs. It came down to where I could excel more," Brewer told Y!. Brewer says Celtics offered similar $, but starting & re-joining Utah teammates Boozer, Korver were main draw. Utah never made strong run. And apparently Derrick Rose is the ONLY Bull under contract under 6'7.
  2. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 01:16 AM) Thats why I said "counting tax of course." Sorry I didn't say that as good as I should have (my mistake there), but I know/meant he will make 7 (or technically 8+ since it is front loaded) mil. No, it's still only 7 in the 1st yr. I believe it was 7, 7, and 5 over the 3 years. And another note that I haven't seen, Rudy Fernandez would accept a trade to only 5 teams, and the Bulls would be 1 of those teams. The others are NY, NJ, BOS, and MIA. This is per Frank Isola who covers the Knicks.
  3. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 01:12 AM) It really is a dumb business decision, but their owner is rich so he can do these kind of things. Orlando is now very deep once again and is still a top 3 team in the East. Funny to see Redick will only make 2 million less (counting tax of course) than Dwight Howard this comming season to be a backup. Lets hope if we sign Brewer, Gar can somehow net another sniper to pair with Rose. (Korver alone won't get it done) He doesn't see a penny of that luxury tax money. He'll make 7 million. The Magic will have to pay him 7 million and the NBA 7 million. He won't make 2 million less than Howard, but he'll cost the Magic 2 million less.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) The CBA blocks us from trading anything to the Magic, doesn't it? Correct. Redick can be traded to anyone BUT the Bulls. With that said, Brewer is almost a lock to be a Bull, and I absolutely love it. He's been in constant contact with the Bulls and there is strong mutual interest. Once the Magic officially announce that they are matching Redick, I expect the Bulls to announce that they have signed Brewer. And they would probably still go get someone like Matt Barnes.
  5. Wow, the Magic are taking their sweet ass time deciding on Redick.
  6. Here are some of the remaining options for the Bulls: PG: Jason Williams, Will Bynum, Rafer Alston, CJ Watson, Carlos Arroyo, Earl Watson, Jamaal Tinsley, Anthony Johnson, Sergio Rodriguez, JJ Barea SG: JJ Redick, Matt Barnes, Ronnie Brewer, Roger Mason, Shannon Brown, Josh Howard, Sasha Pavlovic, Rasual Butler, Jarvis Hayes C: Brad Miller, Kurt Thomas, Tony Battie, Shaquille O'Neal, Francisco Elson, Rasho Nesterovic, Kwame Brown, Fabricio Oberto, Etan Thomas
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 11:33 PM) sf1, Pistons are going to be re-signing Bynum in the next few days. Sounds like Wade talked his buddy into waiting to see if the Heat would have cap room, but they won't. And to think, I really liked Wade coming into this off-season.
  8. Here's the full article on Rose and Thibodeau: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baske...0,5243853.story That is absolutely fantastic news.
  9. Also, the Bulls made an offer to Raja Bell (2 years, "in excess of 8 mil) but he ultimately chose Utah for 3/10.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) Well Bledsoe would be the exact opposite style of player youd match up Bouldin with. Bouldin is a bigger guard. Im not basing this off of summer league, basing it off of watching him on Gonzaga last year. I wouldn't count on Bouldin to guard much of anyone.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) I think Bouldin has a shot to make the team. Hes a gritty player who may not be the best athlete but can do most of the little things. He also is kind of a jerk so a great guy to put on the other teams best player. Uh, no thanks. He got burned by Bledsoe pretty bad tonight. Lucas looked REALLY good. I think he was 5/5 from the arc tonight and displayed really good court awareness. His defense on Blesdoe was actually pretty good. He was by far the most impressive player tonight. Almond had a bad 1st half and an better 2nd half. I only remember Bouldin taking 2 shots but he hit both for 3. Plaisted looked really good down low. In other words, don't count on anything from our summer league guys. With Livingston off the market, I'd like one of CJ Watson or Will Bynum as the backup PG. Bynum is a Chicago guy too, went to Crane. Get Bynum, Brewer, and bring Miller back and call it a day. If you can't get Redick, get Barnes.
  12. So the more I think about it, the more I REALLY want Brewer and Redick together on the Bulls. Thinking about what our philosophies will be like next year, they seem to be perfect fits. First and foremost, the Bulls are going to use their youth, speed, and athleticism to run the court and get out in transition. Brewer fits that mold perfectly. He's athletic, can get to the rim and can finish strong. He's also a very good defender. In a half court set, we're going to be drive-and-kick, screen and roll, and ball movement oriented. Redick and Korver make a ton of sense in these sets, and having Boozer to run the pick with Rose is fantastic as well. When Brewer is on the court, the optimal counterpart at SF is Korver. When Redick is at SG, Deng is his wingman. But starting the game, it really wouldn't matter who was on the court. We'd have a VERY deep team. Rose/Livingston Brewer/Redick Deng/Korver/Johnson Boozer/Gibson Noah/Miller/Asik I'd freaking love that team.
  13. QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) I linked to this like 30 pages ago, but no one probably read it because no one wants to realize that Darko isn't actually awful (and neither is his deal). Centers with comparable ages, PER and contracts: Krstic is on a 3yr, $15.8 mil contract. Zaza is on a 4yr, $19 mil contract. Biedrins is on a 6yr, $62 mil contract Ty is on a 6yr, $64 mil contract Hollins is on a 3yr, $7 mil contract. Remind me again how his deal is bad? Courtesy of CanisHoopus. There were no other options at center available, so we picked up Darko for market value. He's a 7 footer with decent defense that's still just 25. There's nothing at all wrong with that contract, and I'm getting tired of people bashing it just because Darko is forever associated with being a bust. Dude, I'm probably Darko's biggest fan. Legit 7 footer, still only 25, can defend, block shots and rebound and is a great passer out of the post.

    Anyone seen The Fourth Kind?
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) He played well the last 10 games or so for the Wizards. Signing him though would be a major risk, considering this season will be his full first in about 3-4 years. I caught a couple of games he played last season, and the explosion just isn't there for him anymore. He is tentative still going to the basket as I'm sure in the back of his mind he doesn't want his knee giving out again (though at spurts he will surprise with what he still has and at other spurts, he will ole' an assignment just to protect his knee), which would probably end his career and never had a 3 point shot (which I don't like that fit behind Rose or when Derrick and him play together cause of his length which will happen) and isn't very strong nor as fast guarding quicker PG and stronger SG. With all that said though, he is an excellent passer, excellent court vision (better than Rose) and can break down a defense with his superior ball handling and as a very high basketball I.Q. Sad to see the bad luck he's had though. He could of been one of the most interesting PG to follow in the game now with all his potential. (still has it, but more-so needs to get by with craftiness ala Nash) He is definitely worth the vet minimum though. Paying him say.. Kyle Korver money wouldn't be wise unless it was for a short term deal. (1.. 2 years tops) I might prefer a guy like C.J. Watson, maybe Keyon Dooling (though that is if worse comes to worst, or if the Bulls prefer a veteran backup), but Livingston might be the better fit. I just hope Rose doesn't get too burned out played 38+ minutes a night or I hope Shaun really is back capable of playing at least 13-15 minutes a night. From March 13th on, he was averaging almost 30 minutes a game. I think he's more than capable of that especially with another summer full of rehab and workouts. And he's from Illinois. I think the Bulls could easily get him for under 2 mil a year.
  16. According to the Dash's website, Sale pitched 4 innings, gave up 3 hits and 1 earned run for a 2.25 ERA. 4 K's and 2 BB.

  18. Went to the intramural fields at school yesterday and had my own home run derby. Good to know I still have my swing and a lot of pop.
  19. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) Anyone know if Bulls are looking at Shaun Livingston or Brewer at all or we all just living in a dream world? Bulls Considering Signing Shaun Livingston And Korver said he's texted Brewer. I'm pretty sure the Bulls have been linked to Brewer for a while as well.
  20. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) I'm generally fairly pro-Bosh, but #4 in the league is ridiculous. PER isn't exactly a convincing argument in this case because the difference between Wade at #2 and Bosh at #4 is basically the same as Bosh at #4 and Josh Smith at #20. It was also the best PER Bosh has posted in his career, his average over the last five seasons is 23 as opposed to the 25 he posted this year. It also doesn't really factor in defense (outside of steals/blocks/rebounding), which would easily make up the 1-pointish advantage he had over Duncan and Howard. I'd go as far to say it puts him on an even level with Gasol a little over 2 points down (they were similar players before Pau went to the Lakers, though is teams actually made the playoffs out west with Mike Miller and James Posey as the next best players). He probably belongs somewhere in the 10-20 range. Balta was in love with Tyrus Thomas....that's all I need to know.
  21. Apparently James Johnson has lost 25 pounds and looks noticeably slimmer, according to KC Johnson.
  22. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) i agree with this but i think we need to land one more big man just to give us a cushion especially with us not knowing what Asik brings to the table in the NBA....resigning Miller would be huge IMO Ya, if they have the money to do so, that'd be great. He'd be a nice mentor for Asik too.
  23. Korver just had his press conference. He said he as in contact with Boozer previous to signing and that he has been texting Ronnie Brewer to come and play in Chicago. He jokingly said "Were trying to start the Chicago Jazz." If we do get Redick, the last 2 pieces I'd like to see the Bulls add are a backup PG (Livingston) and a defensive/athletic 2 guard (Brewer). PG - Rose/Livingston SG - Redick/Brewer SF - Deng/Korver/Johnson PF - Boozer/Gibson C - Noah/Asik
  24. Santos striking out Cabrera to end the 8th inning against Detroit with the bases loaded and a 1-0 lead in the final game of that series.
