Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
SoxFan1 replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 11:25 PM) This is what the set-up will be like for the outdoor game. If you're in one of the top rows behind home plate in the upper deck, have fun seeing nothing. This is why every seat at Soldier Field is a good one in terms of having a hockey game there. That looks terrible. Obviously, I don't think that the field will be in place underneath, but it was just a bad decision. Soldier Field would have been much better. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) So missing the first 2 games of the Dodgers series (20 days after the wrist injury) with a lower back tightness (same thing he has now) followed by a 20 game stretch where he managed a .186/.234/.314/.548 line doesn't count? How frickin' bored are you?
-
Probably another clubhouse thing they're doing to be silly. I'm sure Toby/Swish were in on it. Or it was just some sort of bet.
-
Last time Crede missed games due to injury was after that rocket off his wrist. He came back after that and absolutely tore it up for a week and a half or so. We could use that again in these upcoming series' vs MIN and DET.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 02:48 PM) I'm not a fan of Walker either, but give the man credit where credit is due. If Cooper gets credit for Danks and Floyd and Vazquez and the bullpen, Walker can atleast get a little bit of credit for Alexei and Quentin and Dye, can't he? Absolutely not. He's a terrible hitting coach and we should fire him yesteryear. Quentin was already as stud coming from Arizona. Alexei was already a Cuban pro...clearly similar talent than the MLB. Dye figured it out himself because he's a veteran. Oh, and Joe Crede's 1st full year was with Walker as a hitting coach. Crede figured it out on his own as well.

QUOTE (FranktheTank35 @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Really? I don't think so at all. We can't really do much better on offense right now. Current MLB Rankings (AL Rankings): AVG: .265 - 10th (6th) SLG: .442 - 3rd (3rd) OBP: .338 - 9th (5th) HRs: 133 - 3rd (1st) So, we are in the top 10 for every category that matters really. The only thing we desperately need is a base stealing threat, as we are #25 in the league in those. Basically, the offense is the last of our worries right now. The offense is worrisome because of it's incredible inconsistencies. No one is arguing the stats.

Sox Option Russell, Call Up Clayton Richard
SoxFan1 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't like Richard's pitching motion at all. He looks very stiff and uncomfortable on the mound. He short arms it big time, snapping the arm around, and he doesn't follow through very much. He also doesn't stride out much at all. For a tall guy, that's not good, because he can get wild high in the zone and eventually leave some pitches up to get crushed. Hopefully he proves me wrong. Can't wait to see him throw. -
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) Wow LaRoche under the instruction of Greg Walker....man it would probably ruin what ever career he may have left. No kidding. Look how terrible Quentin and Ramirez ended up being.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 10:48 PM) It would be served well to get rid of Mariotti Woody Paige is the only reason I watch it once in a while. And it's not even because he knows what he's talking about.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 01:03 AM) I finally saw this today. Subtract Ledger and you have an average to possibly a boring film. I understand that every film has an actor who carries it, but is there anyone else in this film who you'd say was above average in their role? That makes no sense what so ever. Of course it would be boring...the movie was about him. Oldman, Eckhart, and Freeman were all great in this movie as well. And Christian Bale is the best Batman/Bruce Wayne of all.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) Indeed this website doesn't make enough money to sign a major league pitcher. I think if all 3000+ members chipped in, we can give someone a 1 yr deal.

I gotta say, Sox fans are NEVER satisfied with their 3rd base coach. I think Cox has done a phenomenal job. He's right MUCH more than he is wrong.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) I was being sarcastic earlier about blacksox8 ruining it. I FINALLY SAW IT! I went up to the theater tonight at 6:00 for the 6:40 show. There was already a sign saying that it was sold out. Wow. Good thing I had bought my tickets at 3:00. Pretty good movie. It did get slow for me a bit late in the film between

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) I'm expecting Texas to pound him. The same Texas team that just scored a whopping 3 total runs in the last 3 games? -

Show us something kid. It'd be REALLY refreshing to see a minor leaguer come in an earn a prominent role on the team. OR, show us you're ready for the MLB so we can trade you for a good SP. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) Nope, cause of sucking It was kind of weird because both were replaced between innings.

Baines statue to be unveiled at the Cell on Sunday

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) Nice pics. This one needs to have a photoshop contest with that kid on the right. ? -
Another question...why were Bannister and Danks taken out of the games so early? I don't think either had that high of a pitch count. My guess was the heat?

Was anyone else at the unveiling? I was standing right behind the ropes and got to see a bunch of the players/coaches/legends up close. I only got a couple pictures though... -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) X-rays negative, got him on the other knee. Glad it was nothing serious. From the way he went down at the game, it looked much worse. I thought it might have got him in the same knee.
-
Just got back from the game, any news on Dye? Did it hit him in the knee again?
