QUOTE (RME JICO @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 12:02 AM) Luck to Fleener about 20 times. That should be an interesting debut for Luck going against the Bears D. Welcome to the NFL Andrew. Hardin Pro Day video: I like what I see; he looks REALLY fast. He's well spoken too, and Emery had nothing but great things to say about him. In an ideal world, Hardin and Wright is a nice safety tandem. Conte did ok last year, but I'm not sold on him as a starter, and I've never liked Craig Steltz. And more important than anything: no Harris and no Meriweather. And words can't describe how much I love the Alshon Jeffrey pick. Emery believed he was the 2nd or 3rd best WR in this year's class. Both Jeffery and Marshall are 6'4.

McClellin will wear jersey #99.

You know what other Bears player plays special teams? Julius Peppers.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) Why is our number 1 pick discussing special teams. If our 1st round draft pick is playing special teams, then the terrorists have already won. Because he was asked about special teams. I don't understand why this is such a big deal. He was on the kick and punt teams in college. It's another skill he possesses and the Bears would be dumb not to use him there with his versatility. How is that at all a bad thing? It doesn't mean he's going to be a special teamer only.

McClellin presser on CSN Chicago right now or at http://www.csnchicago.com/live_bears

"I can tell you with 100% certainty, that sources close to the situation are saying there is definite interest in a cornerback." I just heard this regarding the Eagles on NFL Network. That might be the dumbest, and most poorly worded sentence I've ever heard from a "reporter".

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) I've seen two second round mocks that have the Bears taking Allens: SI.com says Jeff (OT; Illinois) and CBS.com says Dwayne (TE; Clemson). I think I'd be happy with Jeff. I'd be ok with either.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) Interesting that there are some whispers that McClellin will be Urlachers replacement in 2 years. Link?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) I dont think Peppers technically plays either L or R de. Basically Peppers can line up at either side depending on which tackle he thinks he can beat more. My guess is that the Bears draft a big dt/de type to put in the mix for run downs. They then use McClellin as a back up lb on run downs (or maybe he wins a starting job) and then put him in the mix for DE on rush downs. Reading the BSU boards they said McClellin sometimes would line up at nickel back, if that is true it shows he has pretty good athleticism. At the end of the day, with how thin the Bears are at LB/DE, it did make sense to pick a guy who can potentially play both. I just think most Bears fans were somewhat shocked as this is the exact type of player the Bears generally dont draft. Which I am perfectly fine with. Because the type of players we have been drafting along the lines lately haven't been good. We all were begging for change from Jerry Angelo. We got it. And now we're complaining that the change isn't good either. The way I see it: I'd much rather have my game days be more exciting than my draft days.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) The problem with drafting guards is that most of them are unlikely to be able to play tackle, where as if you draft a tackle, they may be able to play guard. When you look at the linemen left, there are a good number who could be interesting. Emery essentially said as much in his pre-draft presser. He felt that this draft was deep with versatile linemen who can play tackle and guard. There is still a ton of talent in the 2nd round: Cordy Glenn, Coby Fleener, Peter Konz, Janoris Jenkins, Jerel Worthy, Coby Fleener, Jonathan Martin, Stephen Hill, Kendall Wright, Mohamed Sanu, Alshon Jeffery, Kelechi Osemele, Brandon Boykin, Orson Charles, Dwayne Allen...

For the love of God, NO to Brandon Inge. I recall people trying to convince me that Tigers fans liked him and that he was a fan favorite and that he was good. He's awful. They hate him. They have for a while now. There was even a blog made called Ab®andon Inge.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 02:06 AM) I'm looking at this Spurs roster. O.M.G. Popovich is the clear-cut choice for COY. Manu Ginobili has missed more games than Rose. And in the games he's played, he's sported his worst across-the-board numbers since 2004. Tim Duncan is barely half the player he was in his prime. Parker has had his normal good year. But let's break down the rest of this Spurs roster (most of it): DeJuan Blair: a second round pick, is their starting C at 6'7, in the west. Danny Green: another second round pick, who had 28 career games played coming into this year. Patty Mills: are you serious? Where the hell did he come from? Another (late) second round pick. Kawhi Leonard: did anybody know who this guy was before this season? Gary Neal: undrafted These are like their top guys. The west is clearly better than the east. The west is 156-114 against the east this season. If you narrow it down to only playoff teams, the west's top 8 is 100-44 against the eastern conference (east playoff teams are only 74-70 against the west). This is a severe no-brainer. Thibs did a tremendous job this year. Rose, while great, is nowhere near as valuable (at least in the regular season) as I thought he was. But Popovich, in a much better conference, has been god-like. There's nothing to discuss here. This is almost as easy as LeBron and his third MVP that's coming next month. It sounds a lot more like you're a proponent of R.C. Buford for Exec of the Year than Pop as Coach of the Year.

Player A: 4.72 40 yd dash, 13 bench press reps, 33 inch vertical, 120 inch broad jump, 7.11 3 cone drill, 4.34 20 yd shuttle (6'6, 240) Player B: 4.63 40 yd dash, 19 bench press reps, 31.5 inch verical, 118 inch broad jump, 7.07 3 cone drill, 4.33 20 yd shuttle (6'3, 260) Player B is Shea McClellin. Player A is Jared Allen. Am I saying he's going to be Jared Allen? Of course not. Should we give the guy a chance? Absolutely.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 01:43 AM) Well its a little stupid to spend the 19th overall pick on a backup when we have glaring holes elsewhere. If they want to take a risk on some small school prospect with no upper body strength in the 2nd round, and you've addressed bigger needs (Offensive Line) already it would be hard not to be OK with it. And Emery doesn't get the benefit of the doubt, that's not how this works. The Bears window, if it isn't closed already, is closing fast... frankly I'd fire the guy outright for pulling a move this stupid when there were clearly better players available. I know I'm in the minority on that, but already I'm sick and tired of Emery. You need to relax.

I can't say I'm shocked at the reaction of Bears fans. Emery seemed to like McClellin's ability to play LB or DE. And the people freaking out because he mentioned special teams are hilarious. He said it in reference to him being a 4-down player, as in, punt/kick plays on 4th down. At least that's what I gathered from it. It's pretty typical of NFL fans to have the "Hey, this isn't the big name guy who went to a big school so this pick sucks" reaction. And seriously, a Dan f***ing Bazuin reference? Disgraceful. Emery gets benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. The guys is known for his extensive scouting and talent evaluation. And with all the scouting they've done, how about we give the guy a chance to play a snap before we jump to conclusions? Expect an offensive linemen or WR in the 2nd round.

Through 18 games, I'm still kinda unsure about this team. They could have a record much better than 10-8 with a bit better execution. 3-4 at home, 7-4 on the road. -
