QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) That's different, the Royals were rebuilding. They'd do things like trade away players to clear salary and bring in AA level players in exchange. That kind of stuff wouldn't be tolerated here. Haven't you, for the last week or so, been adamant that this season is a developmental season and that this team is rebuilding? I don't get it. You can't have both. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) Hawks can't get a RFA this summer due to not enough draft picks. (from the Oduya deal) Schneider would be amazing, but Hawks have to go to the UFA route. Perhaps a guy like Montoya if they trade Crawford. I thought the Oduya picks were next year and not 2012. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) I'd drive Seabrook to the f***ing airport myself if they could unload him. Whoa, can't disagree more. He was our best defenseman by a mile this year. I'd say the 3 names who are most in danger of being traded are Sharp, Hjalmarsson and Stalberg.

How will all these new tv rights deals affect the Sox?

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 11:11 AM) To be fair to the Royals, they're going to terrorize the rest of the American League any day now and all of the Postseason revenue coming their way will allow them to sign whoever they want for however much it takes to sign them. Children in a candy store will show better self control. I think this is sarcasm but I'm not entirely sure. With that said, people have been saying that about the Royals for a while now. And they still suck. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) Its nice that Rios is doing better, Im not sure that its Manto. Rios has done this before, you just never know what youll get. I'm convinced 100% that it's Manto, because I know for a fact that Greg Walker visited him and reworked his swing in the offseason (in one day, mind you) before 2010 and he had a hot start then too.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) Remember, the M's just went out and beat Max Scherzer tonight. It happens. Some questionable decisions there with leaving Gavin in and leaving Beckham to be torn apart by a power fastball pitcher...Rios hasn't been hitting for much power this year, so better to go for the tie-game with one at-bat rather than relying on a bunch of hits being strung together. Then again, you get the game to Konerko and he seems to match up very well with Balfour. That pitch Dunn missed...very few major league power hitters are going to put into play. He was trying to turn on it, and the only possible result with a ball in that location would have been going the other way for a double to LF. But he was trying to get 2 runs with one swing there, clearly. The 3-1 or the 3-2? The 3-1 offering should have been pulverized. The 3-2 was a pretty damn good pitch.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) Looked like he was expecting an offspeed pitch maybe? It's 3-1. You HAVE to think fastball to be successful. If he aces you with an offspeed pitch, there's not much you can do. IF you swing and make weak contact, it'll probably result in an out. He did this the other night with the bases loaded on a 3-2 count. You KNOW it's going to be a fastball right there. The result was a backwards K.
-
How a MLB batter misses that 3-1 pitch is beyond me.

There aren't a ton of UFA goalies this summer, but the RFA crop is interesting. Carey Price, Tukka Rask, Ondrej Pavelec, Corey Schneider. I wonder if a competitive offer to Pavelec would prevent Winnipeg from re-signing him. He had a bit of a down year, but they also have a ton of cap space.

Iron Man > Thor > The Incredible Hulk > Iron Man 2 > Captain America That's how I'd rank them. I quite enjoyed the Edward Norton Hulk movie.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) Technically we do have a developmental goalie "waiting in the wings" Doesn't seem like the organization is as high on Salak as they were in the preseason. 2.69 GAA and .903 SV% in 21 AHL games.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) http://www.complex.com/sports/2012/04/rudy...d-to-talk-trash LMAO That's hilarious, but seriously? Like the Memphis Grizzlies have a great history of winning?
-
Don't stop now, booooooys.

The White Sox are currently 10-6. That's a .625 winning percentage. Over the course of 162 games, if they keep this pace, it's a 101 win season. Just saying.
-
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:07 AM) Remember Mike Smith? The guy who just stood on his head and had a Vezina-like season? At one time...he sucked. So, maybe Crawford needs a different goalie coach...or just needs to find that one thing...or not. But it's too early to give up on him. If the Hawks do hang on to Crawford, our only real hope is that he pulls a Jimmy Howard. Really good rookie season, sophomore slump, then ascends into a top goalie in his 3rd full year in net. It's not likely, but that's what we need. It's not like Crawford hasn't shown flashes. He's 9 months younger than Howard too. Crawford yr 1: 2.30, .917, 4 SO Howard yr 1: 2.26, .924, 3 SO Crawford yr 2: 2.72, .903, 0 SO Howard yr 2: 2.79, .908, 2 SO

The CSN Chicago situation is extremely unique because the teams actually own the network. The nice part is that Reinsdorf owns 40% and the Sox benefit from the Bulls success. -
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 12:08 AM) Add some bad luck and bad officiating to the mix as well. Everything seemed to be going against the Hawks in this series. Crawford playing horrible even with 20 or less shots against in 3 games, Hossa getting injured, a brutal PP and PK, and horrible non-calls against the Coyotes. Pretty hard to win with that much going against you. The missed too-many-men in GM 1, the horrible goalie interference in GM 2, the no-call on the Torres hit in GM 3...those were tough.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) Ugh. Bad matchup vs. Phoenix or bad performance? Hawks go down quietly, losing at home again. Another team that hasn't done much since winning a world championship. Weird hex our championship teams have. Their goalie was hot, our goalie was bad. The 1st period they played tonight was about as good a period as you'll see any hockey team play ever.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) Not comical to me this guy has had MAJOR arm issues. The lat isn't part of the arm, fwiw. -
This is crazy: Peavy now has as many shutouts with the White Sox has he did with the Padres.
