QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) VERY nicely done!! Many thanks SF1, its going up as we speak Glad you like it. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) You should have probably cropped out Thome's bat.... Well, I wanted to keep the bats in for each one. It would look kind of weird with PK and JD with bats but not Thome. But then again, it looks weird with the bat coming out of nowhere. Nonetheless, I like the way it came out.

Oh my god. Wynalda just said "Gigi Buffoon." And while on the subject of goalkeepers, everyone want's to blame the new ball. GMAB. -

Holy s***. Alexi Lalas laying the smacketh down on Eric Wynalda. Wynalda is making the excuse that the team was inexperienced and nervous and Lalas comes back with a "Don't complain about inexperience. Experience is what we've been talking about the whole time!" I like Alexi Lalas. BTW, doesn't the US have the most or 2nd most returning players from the last World Cup? -

Actually, I think the US would benefit most from a 4-4-2. With an offense like the Czechs, they need that extra defender and that's where Bocanegra could slip in. -

What a shot by Rosicky! 2-0 Czechs. Which is pronounced "Raw-sich-key" not "Ro-sick-key" 2-0 Czechs. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) Keep it on those channels then. You have a way to avoid your problem; there isn't reason to complain then. Problem is, ESPN is the only channel I can watch all the games on, hence, my complaints. But, it doesn't matter, it's not gonna make ESPN and ABC not talk about the US all the time. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 11:14 AM) f***, US went down 5 minutes into the game on a nice cross that resulted in a header . 14:26 into the game now, still 1-0. Czechs are 2nd ranked in the world apparently. Yes, they are. But FIFA rankings are way overrated. US = 5th. Teams that didn't qualify are ranked higher, in some cases way higher, than teams that did. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) They're doing the same things in China, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, and Serbia. Bash them too. No, they are not. I watched Poland/Ecuador in a German broadcast and they didn't mention Germany once. I watched England/Paraguay in a Serbian broadcast and they didn't mention Serbia once. I watched Serbia/Netherlands in a Spanish broadcast and they only mentioned Mexico once. And it was during halftime. 1-0 Czech Republic on the header by Koller. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) Exactly. Move if you don't want to hear coverage of the HOME country. Every place is doing the exact same thing for their respective country. You've got nothing to complain about. Look, I have nothing to complain about when there are no games on, but like I said, when 2 teams that are not named USA are playing, is it necessary to talk about the US? I'm just sayin... -
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) Forgive my dark clouds here, but I have a feeling that many of those things don't happen nearly as often as they lead people to believe. I am sure injuries occur, but I am also sure that many of the injuries seen on TV are no more real than the rest of what goes on. I can understand where you could get this idea but I would say 75% of the injuries you see are real. Well, back in the day they were.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) Um..you are aware you live in the US right? I'm pretty sure every country focuses their news towards their own team..I could be wrong here as I have no basis for my argument. My Predicition: CZE 2, US 1 I understand that I live in the US, but when I am watching Portugal/Angola, I do not want to hear about the US. When I am watching Serbia/Netherlands, I do not want to hear about the US. When I am watching Mexico/Iran, I do not want to hear about the US. When I am watching US/Czech Republic, then I will want to hear about them. See, on an international level, broadcasters are supposed to be objective. Not to root for a team, but to broadcast the game. Tell me about who has the ball not about how many strands of hair Brian McBride has on his balls. -

This gushing about the US is starting to really piss me off. Every f***ing game has a 10 minute span where all they talk about is the US. These announcers are horrible. I've had to watch these games on the Spanish channels because everytime I flip to ESPN, their talking about the US. I mean, come on. I understand that the country, well, 5% of it, is excited about their team this year but if you're going to choose to cover the World Cup, cover the World f***ing Cup, not the US. Holy s***! After the 1st half in the AUS/JAP game, what does it say will be on during the halftime show? A f***ing US report. TALK ABOUT THE GAME I AM f***ING WATCHING! I WILL HEAR ENOUGH ABOUT THE US WHEN THEY ARE PLAYING THE CZECH REPUBLIC. HOLY f***ING s***! /end of rant -
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) The thread was about toughness. I am sure there are tough guys in the wrestling circuit. but I also think that its a lot easier to handle scripted, rehearsed, known events (which are designed to reduce the chance of injury), than it is to put yourself on the line in unkown, rough situations. That is why I don't see those wrestlers ever being as tough (in my book) as the tough players in a sport like football, or rugby, etc. Can you really plan broken jaws? Ripped biceps? Concussions? Professional weightlifters don't expect 500 pounds to break their knees...does that make them tough?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:12 AM) Oh I'm not saying I'd want to get in a fight with some wrestler. I just don't think what they do is a sport. Boxing is a sport, and even that UFC stuff is sport - because there is actual competition. Professional wrestling is just entertainment, like an action movie for example. There are some tough actors too... but they are still actors. Actor or not, the pain is real. Watch the video's that someone posted. Getting thrown 16 feet off a cage and landing on a table. Getting slammed 10 feet through a fence. Getting tossed on thumb-tacks 3 times. So what if it's planned, that doesn't make what their doing painless.
